Cream Filling & Nougat: Second Coating (Chapter X)
Everybody was escorted back down to the ground floor of the plaza. Local officers and paramedics soon arrived and started attending to everyone, trying to make sense of what had happened that night. One of the higher ups was speaking with Cream and Nougat, discussing matters of collateral damage and insurance - Cream took most of the responsibility.
"So, the chief's gonna tear you a new one, isn't he?" the officer said.
"Wouldn't be the first time," Cream replied, "but, we've - I've - done worse before, so I'm sure we'll live." The officer wrote down a couple more things on a small pad.
"So what are you gonna tell him this time?" Cream shrugged.
"I dunno, that I hate Valentine's Day?" The officer just shook his head before he walked away to some of the newly-arrived representatives of the plaza; they all looked rather upset.

A paramedic asked Cream to take a seat and get his wrist checked out and he complied, sitting down on a bench near the entrance of the plaza. After watching his partner sit down, Nougat took a good look at the main doors into the plaza. That sort of damage to any highly public area was always frowned upon, and he knew it was going to be a long time before they dug their way out of this one, regardless of how many millions of dollars in jewels they saved. While he sighed, he looked towards Connie and Basil, who were sitting at a bench across from Cream was; a paramedic was catering to his arm.

Nougat walked over to the two would-be jewel thieves. Basil was making an odd face of sorts as the paramedic stitched his right arm back together. Connie, meanwhile, sat with a blanket around herself; her arms were clasped around Basil's left, her hand intertwined with his. Nougat stepped before them.
"Alright, I need to know," he said, "why this?" Basil shrugged.
"Those gems would've bought a lot of nice things . . ."
"You're serious?" Nougat threw back. "This wasn't exactly a simple heist you tried to pull off tonight. It was just for the hell of getting some extra cash?"

"Hey," Connie said before Basil could say anything, "those jewels would have bought a lot of anonymity. We could have gotten out of this city, away from everyone and everything . . ." Nougat just glared at her.
". . . that was the stupidest thing I've ever heard!" Connie lowered her brows. "This is the real world! That sort of crap doesn't just happen to work out like in the movies! Geez . . . didn't your parents teach you anything?"
"You think I even care about that right now?" Connie spat back, holding Basil's arm tighter while both of them glared hard at Nougat - he rolled his eyes and threw up his arms.
"Alright, you know what? Screw it, you two are goin' to jail, happy Valentine's Day . . ."

Nougat walked back over to his partner, holding his shaking head with one hand.
"Man, are all you kids that impulsive and stupid?" he asked. Cream smiled.
"Heh . . . . . yeah, more or less . . . most of us, anyway . . ." Nougat took a knee in front of Cream and the paramedic, who was still bandaging the cuts in Cream's wrist.
"Well, I guess you've just got another good reason to hate this day?"
"Nah," Cream responded, his jaw jutting out at an angle as he spoke, "there've been worse days than today . . . well, this particular day, anyway."
"I'm sure . . ."
"No, really, I'm not kiddin' . . ."

After people were patched up and Basil and Connie were put into the ambulance, two familiar officers came up to the stars of the night. With broad smiles, Cream and Nougat happily relinquished their borrowed vests and sidearms.
"So you guys gonna give us a ride home or what?" Nougat asked, pouting as masculinely as he could.
"Ah, get in," the one on the driver's side said. Nougat laughed in triumph and walked over to the back door of the squad car; Cream just smirked, shook his head, and walked over to the other one.

The other two officers had already gotten into the front seats when Nougat called Cream over the top of the car.
"Hey Whip', for what it's worth . . ." he said, "I don't much care for this day either . . ." Cream cocked his head as he nodded to him. "But still, it's not that bad to ya, is it?" Cream scoffed, though he retained his smile.
"Come on, it's easy for you to say . . . believe me, I'm sure most girls would be much happier with a 'Nougat' for Valentine's Day than a 'Cream'." Nougat paused for a moment before looking back up.
"Yeah, you're probably right." Cream shook his head again and opened the car door while Nougat laughed.

"Ya know," Nougat went on, "I'm gonna tell 'Mel that you broke her security systems."
"I broke the building, not the systems attached to it!" Nougat continued to laugh as he got into the car. "Seriously, you say anything like that to her and you're gonna be in for a world of hurt . . . you know I don't bluff about that sort of stuff!" Cream closed the door and looked to his side; Nougat just stared, giving an odd look of sorts. "'sides," Cream continued, "I'm totally gonna call 'Mel before you do . . ."
"Yeah, yeah . . ." Nougat said, grinding the words out as long and harsh as he could. Cream could contain his laughter upon hearing that . . .

"Ah, just get me home . . ." he said to the driver through the plastic divider in the car, "so I can finally kill off this blasted day . . . . . I'll even give you level three authorization to go lights and sirens . . ." Cream could see the officer visibly shake from laughter as he drove away from the wrecked City Centre. "No, seriously, man . . . . ."

And so ends the sequel to the soon-to-be-famous duo of Cream Filling and Nougat. Man, this thing took a lot of free time outta me - especially since I didn't know what I was writing about! Heehee . . . . but yeah, as always, I hope you all enjoyed my over-stretching of events that may or may not have occured on the day of February 14th. As always, I take no responsibility for having pissed anyone off, yada yada yada. Good night, rest well . . . I'll most likely kill you in the morning . . . . . peace!
