Chapter 1: Lost in the Past

A memory of the past...
"Mommy..." a little girl tugged on her mother's skirt. Her gray eyes looked into her mother's eyes."... I wanna go to the park."
"Okay Miaka..." her mother agreed with her. "Ken, can you take your little sister to the nearby park," she asked her son.
"Aw, but I wanted to go to the store with Dad," Ken complained.
His little sister, Miaka, started to break into tears and sniffling.
"Okay," Ken agreed. "I'll take you to the park," he held her hand in his.
"Yay!" she smiled.

Ken and Miaka left the hotel, hand in hand. They walked down a couple of blocks to the nearest park. As they arrived at the park, Miak ran to the swings.
"Okay, Miaka, now your at the park..." said Ken.
"Onii-chan," Miaka called out to her older brother. "Push me!" she said.
"No Miaka," Ken shook his head at her. "I've got to go somewhere else..."
Ken turned around and began to walk towards the exit of the park with his hands in his pocket.
"Onii-chan..." Miaka softly called out for her brother. She sat there continuing to swing slowly on her swing. Her hair, mahogany and in pig tails, flowed in the wind.
After a while, she got sick of swing by herself and headed for the slide. Miaka played all by herself on the playground. Waiting for her brother to return. She looked up into the sky.
"Where'd you go, Onii-chan...?" she asked quietly.
Miaka slided down the little slide and ran back up onto the platform where the slide was. As she started climbing the steps of the platform of the playground, she tripped up one of the tiny steps.
"Ah!" She screamed as she fell to her knees. She sat up and looked at her knees, her right knee was all scraped up.
"Ow," tears began to flow in her eyes and she tried to hold back the pain she held. She began to cry and wipe her tears away.
"Onii-chan..." again, she called out for her brother to help her. She wiped her tears away using the palm of her hands.
"Here..." Miaka looked up. It was a little boy about her age. He had short, black hair and brown eyes. He reminded her of Ken a bit. He handed her a hankerchief to wipe her eyes. She slowly took it and wiped her tears, then she looked back up at him.
"Are you okay?" he asked her.
"No," said Miaka quietly.
"What's the wrong?" he asked her another question.
"I tripped and hurt myself," she pointed to her knee.
"Here..." he placed his hand out for her, Miaka grabbed his hand and he pulled her up.
"Let's see," he looked at her injury. "Where does it hurt?"
"Here..." she pointed to the scrap on her right knee. She looked at her knee, the boy took out another hankerchief and tied it around her knee.
"Thank you," she said smiling.
"Do you feel better?" he asked.
"Yes, much better," she said cheerfully. "Um... what's your name?"
"My name is Masaki," he said in a properly. "What is your name?"
"I'm Miaka, nice to meet you, Masaki," she said.
"Nice to meet you too, Miaka," he said with a smile.
"Do you want to play with me?" she asked him.
"Sure," he said.
They played around the playground together, swinging on the swings, going down slides, and many other attractions.

Suddenly, a car pulled up to the curb at the park. It looked like a rich car for the slick black car was a expensive brand of cars.
"Master Masaki, there you are," a man got out of the car. He looked like a caretaker. The door of the back seat opened.
"Masaki, Mom and Dad are worried about you.
"Big Brother! Soji!" Masaki called out to them.
"Master Haru wanted to come out and find you personally," said the Soji the Butler.
"Yes...," Masaki's older brother said quietly. He looked a lot different than Masaki, like Miaka and Ken. Haru had blonde hair that looked nicely with his green eyes.
"Haru, do I have to go home now?" Masaki asked Haru.
"Yes, it's getting late," said Haru. Masaki turned towards Miaka.
"I've gotta go now..." he said to her.
"Really...?" She was a little disappointed that her new friend was leaving. Haru walked up to Masaki and Miaka.
"And who are you?" Haru asked Miaka.
"I'm Miaka..." she replied.
"Do you know how to get home?" Masaki asked Miaka.
"No," she replied to his question.
"Why not?" asked Haru.
"Onii-chan brought me here and I don't know how to get back," she said to them.
"It's getting really late..." he looked at his watch, then looked back up at her. "He must be irresponsible or something."
"Do you need a ride home?" asked Masaki.
"Mommy told me not to go with strangers..." she replied.
"But were friends, right?" Masaki said with a smile.
"Yes... okay," she smiled. "I am friends with Masaki and Haru." Haru blushed.
"Where do you live?" Haru asked Miaka.
"I live in Saitama..." said Miaka.
"So you're here on vacation?" said Haru.
"Yes," said Miaka.
"Is your hotel near here?" asked Haru.
"Yes," she said.
"Then we'll take you there," said Masaki. Miaka smiled.

Miaka got in the car with Masaki and Haru and headed towards the hotel. On their way to the hotel, Miaka looked out the window and something caught her eyes.
"Lookie!" she pointed to the photobooth. "A photobooth."
"Yes, it is," said Masaki. "Do you want to take pictures of us together?"
"Yes!" Miaka said with a big smile.
"All right," said Haru. "Soji, turn around and stop at that photobooth back there."
"Yes Master Haru," Soji turned the car around and parked near the curb. Masaki and Miaka got out of the car and ran to the photobooth. Masaki slipped in some yens and they choosed a frame for the photos. Haru stood outside of the booth. Flashes went off and Masaki and Miaka posed for the camera, then Miaka noticed Haru standing out there alone.
"Haru, come take a photo with us," Miaka pulled Haru into the booth by his arm. He blushed as she pulled him in. They all posed for the camera. The turn ended and they all got out of the booth with the photos in their hands.
"Miaka, you keep those," said Masaki as he pointed to her photos. "We'll keep these," he pointed the the other set of photos.
"Okay," she smiled.
"Now," said Haru. "Let's take you back to your parents, Miaka."
"Okay," she followed them to the car.

They all got back into the car rode to the hotel Miaka's family was staying in. Soji escorted Haru, Masaki, and Miaka into the hotel and lead them up to Miaka's room.
"Is this the place?" asked Haru?
"Yes," said Miaka.
"I'll take you to your family," said Haru.
"Um..." Miaka turned to face Masaki. She pulled the hankerchief out of her pocket.
"Here," she handed back the hankerchief she had wiped her tears with.
"Thank you. You can keep the other one though, for your knee," he said to her.
"Then you can have this," Miaka said to Masaki. She took her ribbon off her pigtail and gave it to Masaki.
"Thank you," said Masaki.
"And here," Miaka took off her other ribbon and handed it to Haru.
"So that you guys will remember me," Miaka smiled.
"Oh," Haru reached into his pocket and pulled out a little silver key. "This belonged to something, but I had forgotten what it was so you can have it."
"Thank you Haru," she smiled.
"Come on, let's go," said Haru.
"Um, this is my last day here... we're leaving tomorrow," said Miaka.
"Oh," Masaki looked depressed.
"So, good-bye," she said to both of them, she hugged Masaki then Haru.
"Good-bye," said Masaki as he received the hug.
"Good-bye," said Haru.
Haru walked Miaka to the door of her room, then he knocked on the door.
"Yes, how may I help you?" Miaka's father looked stressed and depressed.
"Daddy!" Miaka ran up to her father.
"Miaka!" he opened his arms and held her.
"Miaka! Where is she?" her mother ran up to the door.
"Mommy!" she got out of her father's arms and hugged her mother.
"How can I thank you?" said Miaka's father.
"You can watch over her better," said Haru, he turned around and walked down the hallway.
"Bye..." Miaka said to Haru as he was about to turn the corner.
"Bye," Haru turned the corner and left.
