OK Now I'm Worried
As some of you may know, I am from New Orleans, LA. I'm now starting to get really worried about my family and friends who are still down there. Since I'm up at college now, I'm out of harm's way, though. Many people don't know this, but it's common knowledge where I live that if a major cat. 5 hurricane makes a direct hit in New Orleans, the levee around the Mississippi River will break and the whole city will be under water.
Many of my friends and family members are making plans to leave and I'm also happy that our current mayor was smart enough to issue evacuation orders yesterday instead of waiting till the last minute.
I was talking to my mom earlier today about what they are doing about Ivan. She said that my brother and uncle went to get plywood for the windows, which is wierd because we've never boarded up our windows for a hurricane. Also, my brother had some trouble finding gas and the traffic getting out of the city is bumper to bumper. As of now they don't plan to leave but my mom said there was the chance they would leave, which is also weird.
I really hope that I don't go home to find my home distroyed or find out any of my friends or family were hurt or worse.
