CHAPTER 6: anger between cats

I would sleep well that night,so would Greenpaw! it was really late! we had just gotten back from fallowing lemurtail, and as i was laying in the apprentices den i thought about how Rainstar seemed like a nice cat, nicer then Fallingstar...come to think of it, i never had had a conversation with Fallingstar before. it seemed like he rarely ever left his den, the one in the large, hallowed out space underneath the High rock, where me and my siblings had gotten our apprentice names. "mudpaw, what is it?" i looked around and saw Clawpaw, he was on the opposite side of the den, he was awake and looked like he had been for a while. "I'm just thinking" i replied. "oh" he mewed tiredly. "i saw you and greenpaw sneak out." i was surprised, clawpaw had always been shy. when he mewed something his voice would always shake. but now his voice was as bold as any other cats. "we, uh..." "we talked with lemurtail" it was greenpaw "he was just pacing around, so we went to talk to him, said he couldn't sleep" i nodded agreeingly. "o-oh" clawpaw mewed. his voice was shaking now. we all laid down after that. it was, for some very strange reson, awkward all of a sudden. so instead of saying anything else i decided to sleep, tomorrow would be our first day of training with our mentors. i was excited again. "OW!" my eyes poped open! i sat up startled. Catoninetail was standing near hogpaw "why did you kick me!" hogpaw yowled, he must had been the one who had just yowled 'ow!' and woke me up! "your being lazy, it's time to begin training" Catoninetail replied calmly. i kinda wanted to laugh now. it was with a start that i realized Greenpaw was no where inside the den. "hey,Catoninetail, where is greenpaw?" i asked. "she is already with snowleaf" he mewed quickly before turning his attention back to Hogpaw. it was with another start that i realized NO ONE was in den but hogpaw and Catoninetail. oh no! i thought, I'm late! i rushed past the quarrelling apprentice and mentor, out into the clearing, the camp was busy, i saw a patrol leaving and a hunting party being formed by the high rock. i glanced at the warriors den and saw Rockfur siting just outside it, eyeing me impatiently. i had woken up late! cursing my self under my breath i padded over to him as fast as i could. "your late" he mewed. "i know, I'm sorry!" i replied nervously. i dipped my head in respect, "i was awake until the moon was going down last night" he just eyed me "too much excitement?" his voice was kind, i felt a wave of relief. "well, that, and i fallowed le-" i broke off as i saw lemurtail bounding over to me and rockfur. "i'm so sorry rockfur, but may i borrow your apprentice for a few moments?" lemurtail's voice was creepy sounding, like he was trying to stop him self from yowling in anger. i looked up at Rockfur, he looked like a shadow with eyes, irritated eyes. his black fur puffed out and laid flat again before he replied, "we are already off to a late start today, we need to get some training in." lemurtail stuck his tail straight up in the air, clearly impatient. "i-it's alright rockfur" i mewed softly, i won't let him keep me too long, and I'll be up before sunrise next time!" he turned his irritated eyes on me, "alright, be quick about it!" i nodded and waited for lemurtail, he flicked his tail and padded off, i fallowed. i respected Rockfur more then ever now, he had stood up to the mountianclan deputy! i whised i could be that brave! we were heading to the elders den, elders were cats that were too old or had suffered a great injury and were no longer fit to be warriors. eatch clan took care to keep there elders heatley and happy as possible. lemurtail stopped when we reached the den "behind here" he muttered as he crept behind the den, i, again fallowed. i was scared, why was he leading me back here?! as soon as we were both out of site, behind the tightly entwined branches that made up the elders den, he whirled on me "don't tell ANY CAT about what you and greenpaw saw last night!! not even your mentor!!...........i stared at him, why was he so angry, was meeting with Rainstar THAT bad!?
