CHAPTER 7: the way of life
|
Playing with Snowleaf I realized why isn’t she helping or teach, for that fact, me anything about medicine cat duties. She was always making a joke or laughing at someone doing something wrong. She was just a kit inside a loyal medicine cat’s body. I wish I could be more like her…she was always laughing…she was never depressed. I have never once saw her angry or sad none the lease I have never seen her in action, what I mean by that is I have never seen her serious before. She also never cared about what anyone said to her. “Greenpaw pay attention…” she said with enthusiasm. “What should I pay attention to?” I wished I had never said that…she’s going to think that I think she’s boring. “Look “ she said pointing to a guard at the door. “Now watch!” she slightly whispered. She then flicked a twig with her tail at the warrior. He glanced at her with anger…but she stared at him back with mocking eyes that seemed to burn into his eyes. Then he looked deeply in to hers…he then smiled in relief that it was just a joke. She then laughed. She looked at me then said, “How was that…” I glanced at her then glanced at the guard and saw that he was smiling and not angry like before. He looked at me with a happy look on his face. Then he went back to work guarding the entrance only to allow the clan members in. I looked back at Snowleaf and said with confusion “what was that?” “That was magic…magic that only medicine cats wiled. And someday you will be able to make anyone smile.” I stared at her with tearful eyes. “But remember, no crying…” she said so sweetly and kind cleaning off the tear that slipped from my eye. Then I saw mudpaw slid out of the bushes behind the elders’ den. I padded over to her…it was still morning so her fur was shining brightly. She looked at me and smiled a fake smile. Then winked at me and pointed with her eyes at lemurtail. Lemurtail just looked at me angrily. He dashed off to Snowleaf. Snowleaf just sat there staring at him then she glanced at me with a confused look and then went back to lemurtail. “What is it lemurtail?” she said impatiently. He whispered into her ear. “I need to barrow your apprentice for a short moment…” “Ok…but what for?” she said again out of patients. He started to run out of words. As I sat there watching him blab on about nothing mudpaw tapped my shoulder and nodded her head to follow her. I got up and followed her lead. For some reason she was always in front…I didn’t mind though…I kind of liked having her as a leader. She always knew where to go and what to do at the right time…she was never stuck in a pickle…she always chewed her way out. She was a kind sister and was always happy-go-lucky. She was sweet as well. She then turned around sharply. Then pushed me into the hole in which we had followed the mountain clans’ deputy. She then twitched her ears and made sure no one was looking or coming. Then she lifted her head and sniffed the air. No one was to be seen, heard, or smelt. Then she looked at me and bent down to whisper in my ear…I listen carefully… “Greenpaw…have you told any one about last night?” I shook my head no. “good because if you do…we’ll…” she swallowed hard “we’ll be banished from the clan!” I looked at her blankly. She wasn’t joking…I could tell from her eyes. “Well…what are we going to do?” “We have two choices that lemurtail gave us…on we either run away and never return…or two we keep quiet and forget this ever happened.” “I would rather go with for getting.” I said standing up. She nodded her head with agreement…by the time we desisted to leave it had already been sun high. “hey greenpaw…I got to go…Rockfur is going to kill me!” “See ya later” I saw that lemurtail had left and that Snowleaf had already picking herbs. I found her and helped pick and smiled and started to hum a tune my mother sang to us before we slept under the starry sky. And Snowleaf stared to dance to it her moves were so graceful.
