CHAPTER 10: full moon

I didn't want to be taken care of, the medicine cat would be plenty busy treating all the other cats who had been hurt in the fight. things had happened so quickly i could hardly wrap my mind around it all! "you will become a warrior in time, for now you must rest" rockfur spoke softly yet suddenly, i had ran out of the medicine cat, snoweleaf's den to tell him that i wanted to be a warrior, that i wanted to be strong enough to protect the clan, but now i felt a little foolish. i was bleeding kinda bad, it was mouse-brained to be moving around in this condition...so i just nodded with out saying anything. as i turned to go back to snowleaf's den i felt weaker then ever. i just couldn't make up my mind, i didn't want to be treated, but i didn't want to just stand here bleeding either. my head hurt, my whole body hurt! i didn't want to think about anything right now. but as i heard fallingstar's voice ring out across the clearing those thoughts became the least of my worries, i just KNEW something bad was coming, whatever fallingstar had to say it would not be good news. "let all of mountain clan gather under the high rock!" he yowled, i bounded over to snowleafs den a fast as my body would let me...not very fast. every time i took a step pain shot up my legs, my wounds were hurting even more now, as i entered the den i saw greenpaw laying down on a bed of moss, snowleaf was watching me "you better lay down and let me clean your cuts before the become infected!" he sounded stern, "what about fallingstar, he has just called a meeting." i mewed softly. "don't worry about it" i recognized the voice as sinpaw's, he sounded kinda depressed "it doesnt concern kits like us..." he trailed off. 'kits' the word ecohed in my mind. maby we were just kits. i sighed heavily as i plopped down on an un-ocupied patch of moss, straining my ears i could just make out what fallingstar was saying out side. "Those cats were dust clan cats" there was a slight pause "i do not know there reasons for attacking, but i intent to find out at the next gathering." a few meows arose from the cats gathered around the high rock on which fallingstar stood, but i couldn't make them out out. "DUSTCLAN!" that was green paw, "but there leader is Rainstar! he wouldn't do anything like this!" right after she said that i remembered that rainstar was the dustclan leader, he was gentle and very kind. there was no way he would have attacked mountain clan! i thought hard, it had to've been skyclan or willowclan! there were 4 clans in the forest, mountain clan, dust clan, willow clan, and skyclan...falling star had to've meant willowclan, not dustclan. the cats in willowclan were a shady bunch. i must've dozed off. it was dark already! i was still in the snowleafs den, but hogpaw, sinpaw and clawpaw were no longer there. i could see greenpaw though, she was standing at the den entrance. she looked like mist, the light of the full moon framed her and made her look like she truly was made of mist. but...as i got closer to her i was slowly becoming unsure whether it was greenpaw or not, and something else struck me as odd, the FULL moon. it couldn't be the full moon! that would mean that it was the night of the gathering! the gathering was where all four clans meet under a promise of peace, the clans would do this every full moon. and it was a rule from star clan that there would be no fighting. it didn't make sense! the gathering wasn't for a while! just then the mist-like cat snapped around. "finally!" she yowled impatiently, that definitely wasn't greenpaw. "i told you to be ready for the gathering!" the cat continued "the stars are all in place! now it's time to clean the bloodstained dirt!" i just stared, i didn't feel like my self. i was taller, and i felt smarter. and much stronger! i looked at my paws, they were covered in mud...and, BLOOD! i realized for the first time. the ground around me seemed to be stained with blood! i also realized that i was no longer in snowleafs den! the mist cat looked at me for a moment. then smiled "you'll be ready" she mewed strongly. my eyes popped open! snowleaf was standing over me. "your certainly squirmy when your asleep" she mewed gently "sleep? so, all that was dream?!" i half-yowled "was all of what a dream?" her eyes started burning "tell me what happened!"
