CHAPTER 12: thoughts

It was dawn, i could see the sun slowly rising way off in the distance. my heart was heavy, i could tell that Greenpaw was depressed but she wouldn't say why. and i couldn't get that dream out of my head, the one with the misty cat and the blood stained earth. Snowleaf said it was a sign from star clan, an omen, and that i shouldn't tell any other cat. not Rockfur, nor greenpaw. i was laying at the mouth of the apprentices den, as i said, it was dawn. a cool breeze ruffled my fur and then slowly died away, if i didn't have the dream to worry about, and greenpaw was happy, this would be the most relaxing morning ever. but, it wasn't. i rose to my feet and padded out into the clearing. it would be a bad day...i just knew it! the next thing i noticed was clawpaw, he was just entering camp with his mentor, Barkface. i guessed that they had been out for an early training session. Barkface looked proud, and so did Clawpaw. it looked like the session went well! when Rockfur finally woke up he made me go on a hunting patrol with Mousefoot, Catoninetail, and hogpaw. i thought it was strange, he had woken up late, and then sent me on a patrol he wasn't part off. that was not what mentors were supposed to do! as i fallowed Mousefoot and Catoninetail through the rocky slops of mountain clan territory i realized that something must be up. lemurtail was the same way most of the time, the same way as Rockfur had acted this morning, waking up long after all the other cats, but...he had been that way for a while. i had figured that it was because he would always meet with Rainstar. but he wasn't anymore, at least i have never seen him sneak out again. and Rockfur had nothing to do with all that! something was definitely up! WHAM! i had been so wrapped up in my thoughts that i didn't see the others stop, i slammed right into Mousefoot's behind! i heard Hogpaw snicker from somewhere behind me. I grunted at him angerly. "Look!" cried Mousefoot, i saw them. Three cats, bigger then ive ever seen. they looked almost identical to the black cat that attacked the nursery before. fear took over me, i wanted to run but my feet just wouldn't listen!
