CHAPTER 14: the clearing

I gaped in amazement at Clawpaw. he had never been like that. but when i saw his eyes i quickly figured out why. "ARE YOU OKAY!!??" he yowled to Greenpaw. i watched as she bowed her head gratefully "yes, I'm fine" she replied. "hey, thanks clawpaw" i mewed quietly. at first i wasn't sure if any sound had left me at all. i guess it hadn't for i didn't hear a reply. it was just silence. i didn't hear the tusseling or yowls of battle it all seemed to be blocked out. the next thing i new i was spiraling through the air! i yowled in alarm. as soon as i hit the ground i rolled over to see a large white she cat. she was a rouge, but looked healthier then the rest. she had a sleek pelt and you could see her muscles ripple under her fur as she moved. For a moment i wondered if she had one been a clan cat, we were no match for her! Greenpaw and Clawpaw were standing close to where i was. i could tell by the looks on there faces that they were just as scared as i was! in another heartbeat the whole scene changed. The white she cat was now yowling in anger as she struggled with a ginger colored warrior. he had pop-ed out of no where!! i stood watching as the two cats fought, there moves were way out of my league. i couldn't even keep up! "CLAWPAW, GREENPAW, MUDPAW!!!" i jumped, looking around i saw lamurtail. he had called us. "help me protect the nursery!!" he yowled. all 3 of us ran to him as fast as we could, he lead us the nursery where mousefoot was clawing desperately at an angry rouge. lemurtail jumped into help him imeadiatly, greenpaw hissed and unsheathed her claws, both her and clawpaw dove into the frenzie. they had the old rouge out numbered, so i wasn't worried. i decided to go in the nursery, and help keep the kits calm. i pushed my way through the tightly in-twined twigs and leaves that made the entrance to the nursery. it was alot easier to go through when i was still a kit. inside i saw Dawnflower, a queen, and her recently born kits. Dawnflower looked up at me. "what are you doing!?" she spat "go help them outside!" "OK" i mewed softly "i just wanted to make sure everyone was okay" "and clam" i add hastily. she gave me a nod "were fine" The fighting was finally over. the moon had risen and set before it all had finally stopped though. I learned from lemurtail that the ginger tom cat who had rescued me, greenpaw, and clawpaw had been Rainstar. He had explained everything to lemurtail, and at sundown, right before the upcoming gathering, they were to meet and talk about what was happening. but what surprised me most was when lemurtail invited me and greenpaw to come along! it was now sunhigh, i couldn't wait until dusk!!
