more anime part 4
My sister and I watched Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind this past week. All the movies I've seen which were directed by Miyazaki Hayao are fantastic. The animation isn't quite as clean as Princess Mononoke or Spirited Away, but the imagery is beautiful none the less. The characters are archetypes for his later works. The emphasis on environmentalism which I've come to expect from his films, is full force. If you're a Miyazaki fan, you must see Nausicaa!
One other note - I actually didn't mind the dubbed voices. Uma Thurman in particular did a wonderful job.
We also started to watch Pretear this week. It was sort of inevitable that we watch it, since we love magical girl anime. It's been cute and typical so far, but still worth renting.
I've also been watching MoonPhase. Though I can't explain why, I'm hooked! I guess I was expecting another run-of-the-mill vampire anime, like Hellsing or Vampire Hunter, (and don't get me wrong, I love those!) but the series is actually warm and lighthearted. I attribute this mostly to the love-hate relationship between two main characters.
And I know I said I would be posting Jun Jun soon, but I haven't found the right background idea yet. My new avatar is a preview of the drawing though, so enjoy! lol

more anime part 3
My sister (ShippoMoon) and I finished watching Chrno Crusade the other night. The series is awesome; check it out.
We're also about to finish the second arc of Magic Knight Rayearth. If you like magical girl anime (like Sailor Moon) or mecha with a girlie side (Visions of Escaflowne, the series) then you'd enjoy MKR.
I've been sketching some original characters and thinking of an interesting manga idea. I've actually got two ideas tumbling around in my head. I doubt they'll make it out though lol.
Be on the watch for a drawing of JunJun from Sailor Moon (manga style) and maybe a computer version of my last drawing (Sesshomaru).

this weekend (more anime part 2)
So I finished watching The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya a few days ago. I have to say, it quickly moved to the top of my favorite anime list. It was refreshing and the way it pokes fun at itself was charming!
I also watched Ouran High School Host Club. I didn't feel well today, so I pretty much watched the last 8 episodes in a marathon tonight.
I was supposed to go to a party with some friends, but I was out Thursday night, so I was too tired today for another party! Besides, I had promised myself a drama-free weekend!

Grrr! I haven't had a chance to really draw in a few days and it is driving me crazy! Normally, I get a fair amount of drawing in each night while I watch netflix or cartoon network with my sister (ShippoMoon). This weekend was filled with drama (I hate drama! Aren't I too old for it?) which mainly stems from my best friend's boyfriend getting us thrown out of a club on St. Patrick's Day. It is a long and ridiculous story...
I think we will have to stay in this weekend to avoid anymore chaos!

my first post!
I'm new so I thought I'd write a quick little bit to say hello! I've got a lot of unfinished/sketchy drawings that I hope to finish and post. My goal is to draw fan art of all the series I love and eventually post them here. We'll see how much time I can realistically devote to this goal! I just have to tell myself, "Makenai!"
