more anime part 4
My sister and I watched Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind this past week. All the movies I've seen which were directed by Miyazaki Hayao are fantastic. The animation isn't quite as clean as Princess Mononoke or Spirited Away, but the imagery is beautiful none the less. The characters are archetypes for his later works. The emphasis on environmentalism which I've come to expect from his films, is full force. If you're a Miyazaki fan, you must see Nausicaa!
One other note - I actually didn't mind the dubbed voices. Uma Thurman in particular did a wonderful job.

We also started to watch Pretear this week. It was sort of inevitable that we watch it, since we love magical girl anime. It's been cute and typical so far, but still worth renting.

I've also been watching MoonPhase. Though I can't explain why, I'm hooked! I guess I was expecting another run-of-the-mill vampire anime, like Hellsing or Vampire Hunter, (and don't get me wrong, I love those!) but the series is actually warm and lighthearted. I attribute this mostly to the love-hate relationship between two main characters.

And I know I said I would be posting Jun Jun soon, but I haven't found the right background idea yet. My new avatar is a preview of the drawing though, so enjoy! lol
