back... sort of
The problem with falling off the face of the earth is that eventually you have to land.
And so I've landed, with a thud, back into the swing of things.
Halloweeeeeeeen is coming up and with any luck, I will have at least one new drawing to post by then. I am still working on a few requests, but as I want them to be as close to perfect as I can draw, they are taking a long time. My bedroom floor is scattered with pages torn from sketch books and scraps of paper used to practive anatomy.
I've been a mess lately, both literally and mentally. I have a tendency to repeat my mistakes, ignoring lessons learned. Otherwise, I've been well.
My neice turned 16 last week, and for her birthday, I made her a nightmare before Christmas cake. I was thinking of posting some pictures, since it came out pretty cool. If you're interested, let me know and I'll put up a link.
And onto anime... because no matter how demanding my schedule, there is always time for big eyes and j-pop!
Ai Yori Aoshi is not your typical harem anime. Unlike other popular titles, like Love Hina, in this series, our hero already has the love and devotion of his soul mate. The series centers on Kaoru and Aoi, who's arranged marriage was unarranged. The two are reunited, but must keep their feelings a secret from their housemates and friends. The story is touching, the characters are all likeable, though not wholly original. There is Tina, the rowdy lush American, Miss Miyabi - a strict manager entrusted with Aoi's care, and a handful of others who add to the stories humor. What the characters lack in originality, they make up for in development. Expect classic anime scenarios - like a trip to a hot spring, a haunting adventure (or two), culture clashes between traditional and modern Japanese values, and some very good laughs.
I've also started to watch Black Cat, and next up is Elfen Lied. Both series caught my eyes through theO, so I'm looking forward to seeing them. If anyone has a show to reccomend, let me know!
