Tech Talk
Okay, I'm not the religious sort, but I am a tech person at the church my family goes to. As a tech person, I normally help out with the weekly service and any extra shows the choirs may have.
I work the robotic camera, and I know a little about using the light board. It may help me later when finding a job.
Anyway, we have a goofy crew in the Tech Room, and it doesn't help that out head tech is also the Deputy Chief of the Clearwater Police Department. We have people from everywhere in that job, such as my mom who is currently a college adjunct professor and a Music Therapist, and Mr. Bill Carns, the head of the business department at the church.
It can get wild up there sometimes.
Let's see...I've since done two Christmas shows for the kids, two Christmas Cantatas that the music Director, also the Chorus director at my high school, plans every year. I've also done two Fourth of July Cantatas--again, the same guy as the other cantatas--and a production of Godspell by the youth.
It was all fun.
However, a sorta famous Christian music group came to the church a couple of years ago to do a show.
That group is called Jump 5.
Ever heard of them?
Anyway, they were fun to do the robotic cams on. It was all very fast paced, and they kept on jumping out of my shots.
My analogy: Try playing Afronova on Heavy Mode, and then you might understand. Tricky, yes, especially seeing that I can barely do Afronova on Light Mode.
So, I don't mind doing all of this tech work for my church, even if I am probably one of the least religious, and most egoistic, people you'll meet.
Besides, there's free food for the techs.

Senses Project
Aside from taking the SAT today (God, I hope I did well this time...)I've been working on a project for my Anatomy and physiology Honors class about the special senses.
We all know these; Sight, Hearing, Smell, Taste, and Touch.
I'm in a group of three, and we divided everything up. I got stuck with the sense of smell, all of the disorders associated with the senses, and making a Power Point for our presentation.
Not that I mind. I like the disorders, and I'm pretty good at making Power Points for a 17 year old.
I'm one of those wierd people who studies up on all of the wierd illnesses a person can come down with, just for the fun of it. I also like studying genetic anomalies, like Xeroderma Pigmentosa and Albinism.
Because of this, I really get irked when someone pulls a cliche when making RP characters--Albinism in humans doesn't mean that they have red eyes and snow white skin and hair.
Actually, they have a pinkish complexion, cream colored hair, and really REALLY pale blue eyes, accompanied by a massive case of photophobia and a high risk of sunburn.
So, one of the disorders I chose to do was Sensory Integration Disorder, a disorder that is less well known than Synesthesia.
While Synesthesia merely mixes up the senses, such as smelling sounds and tasting sights, SID impaires the individual so profoundly that they can't function in every day life without specialized therapies and coping skills.
The world is too loud and too bright, and even the lightest touch can be painful. Some even have to lay on the ground because they can't feel the pull of gravity on them, or some even crave sensory stimuli that they apparently don't recieve.
Like this one Autistic girl my mom works with. She's such a sweet heart, but her tactile sense is hypocative, causing her to occassionally lay on Mom's keyboard or climb all over me so that I'll tickle her.
It also affects the sense of hearing, and my mom seems to think that I have a very mild case of something like this.
We have a macaw at home, and when she starts screaming it's torture on me. I can't think. The school fire alarm; I immediately jump, drop everything, and hold my head. I don't think about it, it just happens.
I also have issues computing what a person is saying sometimes, to the point where I'll ask for multiple repitions before I actually understand. My dad doesn't like it, because he doens't like repeating himself. He once even went as far as to say that I do it for the hell of it.
What little he understands.
My mom is a Music Therapist, but there is only so much that she can do to help her children. But, I think I can live with my auditory issues. Beacuse that's all they are--bothersome little issues.

Grades!!!
Yay!!! To those who were paying attention to my ramblings over marijuana laws, I'm sure you'll be glad to know that I did well on the paper.
88/100=88%
Yay! My teacher's not an ass after all!!
Oh. Kuro-Tan and Starwind; I wasn't stressing out over the flag. Apologies if it came out that way.

The Pledge of Allegiance
There's just so much hassel over the words 'One nation, under God, indivisible" that it's simply maddening!
Don't get me wrong; I'm for taking the words 'Under God' out of it.
Why?
Because those words were added 70 years ago to separate ourselves from the so-called 'godless Russians' of that era. We were in the midst of the Cold War, and worried over Communism.
People don't realize that the Pledge is no longer in it's original form.
I mean, why would a Socialist put the words 'under God' in something he wrote? The Pledge was written for our allegiance to our flag and country, not to a God of any sort.
It's...maddening.
I'm telling you tht truth. The Pledge was written by a Socialist. Look it up for yourself. I doubt my American Government professor would lie about that.

Thank You!
Thank you, Kuro-Tan, for the help! I'd give you a cookie, but I have a better present for you.
A picture of Sir Laguna!

Change of Style
I was getting a little bored with Canti-Sama, so I decided to change my site to a more Samurai Champloo feel. It is one of my favorite anime now, to the point where I may buy the DVDs if I can't find the CDs. Gotta love that music.
But I'm still working out the kinks. If anyone can tell me how to fix it so that only the swords are showing in the background, without these blocks of color, I'd be most grateful.
Kuro-Tan, Sand dragon 19, NekoVampLuna, and MiasmaMoon, I'm talking to you all.

Laguna Dream Sequence
I've been on a torrent lately with this idea, but I think I'll give it a rest for now.
I was playing FFVIII again today, and I got to the first Laguna dream sequence.
I know. Laugh later. I'm not a hardcore gamer.
My first impression of Laguna was that he was a complete joke.
"Come on, we're fighting a war here!"
"Can't we just go and have a friendly drink?"
It was something like that--I can't remember it exactly.
And then, of course, the battle music. Man with the Machine Gun is the title, and if anyone can help me find a midi file of it I'd be so happy. I'd like to add it to my site.
It's one of my favorite songs on the FITHOS LUSEC WECOS VINOSEC CD. Something about it reminds me of Yanni for an odd reason. Undrestandable, considering that I have two of this man's CDs.
As much as I like Squall--and relate with him, because I'm also socially awkward to nearly that calibur in a situation--I think Laguna is going to usurp him with that title.
A given. He's the resident Bishonen so far.
I'm going to play more tonight. I can't wait to get to the next dream sequence!

V
Even with the lack of responces, I felt the need to post this. Kuro-Tan and Starwind both like it, so I figured that I had nothing to lose.
If you want me to post some technical terms too, I can easily do that

Character Sketches: Alec Hughes
Time: 4:15 DAY
Location: Kalisian Carrier-Class Airship ‘Serenity’s Rebellion’; Cockpit
A blow from the opposition knocked his field of vision askew. “Kid,” called a voice over the com, “What’s the status?”
Alec fumbled with the controls that brought the familiar blue sky, now overwhelmed with enemy Strikers, back into view. “Not too good,” He replied, stunned by their horrible turn of luck. A glance at the console told him that the shields were low—they wouldn’t last another attack—and he knew for a fact that a Carrier never had weapons of its own.
“Talk to me, kid.” The captain said, her voice sounding more like a request than an order. He glanced toward the internal video feed, and saw her gazing straight at him, her face stern but her eyes carrying a hint of softness directed at him.
“Like I said, it doesn’t look good, Captain.” Alec fought to keep the controls steady as he flew the Carrier in the midst of the Strikers, full speed, and simultaneously keep his voice calm. “Serenity has received heavy damage in spite of the shields, and there is little chance we can escape as we are right now.”
Even as he spoke, he could see the ultimate problem; the Strikers were built for speed and quick assaults on their opponent, while Carriers were merely cargo ships that were built for the safe passage of Darts and Strikers. No Carrier could stand a chance against either, for they were too large and ungainly for fast travel.
“But there is a chance?” The Captain pressed.
Not much,” Alec replied, his voice sounding grim to his own ears, “Not unless…” He trailed off as a realization struck him.
“Unless…?”
“The Zephyr Zenith Driver,” Alec said hurriedly, “is it installed?”
“What are you--?”
“Never mind.” Alec took matters into his own hands, and used his own neuro-link with the ship to his advantage. Even as he dodged another blow from a Striker, he searched through his awareness for the object he connected to the Rebellion earlier—the ZZ Driver, as he had dubbed it.
He groped around mentally, and found the object he was searching for. Through the data he felt the brand new, never been used sheen over it, and felt a tingle go up his spine in anticipation. The instant he touched it he knew what to do.
He flipped his microphone on so that the entire crew could hear:
“Everyone, hold on!”
With that said he activated the ZZ Driver, and felt the burst of power shoot throughout his entire nervous system. Adrenaline surged through his veins, sending pain and pleasure signals throughout his being. Visual and Auditory input temporarily ceased, but he felt a chill against his cheeks and a tingling all over his flesh.
Then it stopped.
Shell shocked. That was the only phrase that could describe what he felt as all stimuli ceased to exist. He felt as if he were floating in a void…perhaps even Nirvana? No…he felt something cold against his cheek, if it even existed anymore. There was also something unpleasantly strong that he smelled…salts? It didn’t matter, in Nirvana nothing existed…
“Alec.” Someone called, softly at first, then louder; “Alec.”
Vision was the last to return, and he found himself gazing into the glittery eyes of his Captain. He heard someone groan—was it him?—and the next thing he knew he was staring at the steel plated floor. His body ached, and he shuddered violently.
The captain lifted his chin so that they could look eye to eye. “What happened?” It sounded like a request, but he recognized it as something close to a worried query and an order.
He smiled, then winced. “The ZZ Driver,” He replied, embarrassed about how his voice cracked.
“What ever you did…” The Captain began, “…got us out of there.” Before he knew it he was being held against her body—a hug. “Good job, Kid. And…Thank you.”

Mental Overload
Okay...that idea I told you about earlier has taken up residence in my head, forcing me to embellish upon it until it's a complete universe.
I kinda like it right now.
And, considering the lack of feedback I've recieved on it so far, I'm considering posting it in the Anthology on the OtakuBoards. I figure I might get something there.
My ultimate plan for this thing is to finish the story and post it on FictionPress.com, and post the link to the story in my intro.
Either that or post the link to my profile on there om my OB profile.
Starwind, I know you'll pop by sometime--I told you to. Comment, please!
