When in Rome....
Do as the Romans. I know, I know. Blah blah blah blah...shit. I'm a bit inflamed now on somethings--I'd probably try to start a protest if I weren't a minor.

I'll talk about what we're taling about in Sociology, and about that 'Government within the Government' that seems to be the source of our problems.

But first, a little lesson.

There are three main characteristics of a Totalitarian Government:

1) Gross use of Ideaology

2) Control of the Media

and

3) A single party in control of the Government.

Let's connect this to the current day, shall we?

1) This whole 'War on Terror' bit--it's a little hard to wage a war against an intangible force. Besides this, the terrorists do not belong to any single country. To the American people, the terrorists thought about are of Middle Eastern descent and wear a turban--Muslims.

Isn't this religious discrimination?

On the religion note--ever notice how Bush is trying to be ultra conservative in his approach to his Supreme Court Justices. Methinks he only wants to overturn Roe v. Wade. If he does, he'll have some pissed off women to deal with.

2) Take a gander at the media. We're not hearing shit about this War on Terror. Frankly, I kind of want to know whats going on. Even Mr. Drudge's website, the Drudge Report, is sadly lacking in this department. Nobody really cares about how many little boys Michael Jackson moslests, right?

Right.

Fox and Friends is clearly an ultra Conservative news show, and Robin and Company is only good for a few laughs.

Where are the reliable journalists?

In Canada. I think.

3) We're pretty damn close to a single party system. If you look at the Presidential elections, past and present, only one third party candidate became President; Mr. Abraham Lincoln. As many good ideas as he had, Mr. Nader didn't even have a chance.

Besides, we're supposed to have a divided government so that Congress and the President can push and pull each other over different issues. Obviously, it's not working out that way, considering that the Republican Party is the Majority Party.

The Democrats are little better than the Republicans. They won't do crap about anything anymore. Apparently most of the country is registered Democrat--what happened with the last election?

My history teacher warned my class about this sophomore year. It's a little creepy to see his predictions coming true.

One more note, and then I'll stop. All this crap about the Patriot Act--it's a violation of the Fourth Ammendment and the ramdom searches and seizures.

In conjunction, apparently the CIA has records of whom ever has a copy of 'The Communist Manifesto' and 'Mein Kampf'--two books I'd like to read some day, just out of curiosity.

Honetly, I find it funny that the CIA wants to know what people are looking up on Google. Funny, and Scary. If anyone here has read '1984', I pray that you're listening.

I don't want America to wind up like the world depicted in 1984. I don't want to have to refer to my President as Big Brother. But, Jesus, we're coming pretty damn close!
