   Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo
























So I watched the first episode of Gankutsuou, and I .......


.... am not sure what to think of it yet. The premise is pretty cool. The hand drawn portions of the art are nice. But.....
...mmmmm ... . I am not entirely sure about the ecclectic style of the surface coloring. I liked it but at times it was really hard to visually differenciate the characters from the background. And at times, due to the patterns, the characters looked extremely flat. I know the are two dimensional, but I mean they look as though if turned they would be like looking at the thin edge of a piece of paper.
The whole thing seemed like a mushroom trip gone bad. I guess it was not bad just a little hard to visually adjust to. Well catch you later.
