Ordered Diazepam [Valium] 2mg PO. How many mL are given?
Translation: "How much friggin' Valium do you have to give orally in mililiters?"
.... you have to see the label to solve. :P But yeah. It's 2mL, peeps. A bit of an aggravating day today. I still don't know what I got on my exam. I do know that I missed at least 3 b/c the teach emailed us the questions that were most missed. I missed them all. ^ ^;;;; It thundered a lot making it really hard to concentrate. I don't like thunder anywhere exept at home in my bed. There it's okay. But I'm in friggin' trailer/portable for classes! O_ o I learned how to put in a feeding tube through your nose [nasogastric tube]. It hurts to put it in, folks. Fair warning. We did it on a manican [sp?]. I learned that this same tube can also be attached to a pump to pump the stomach... in case we OD on caffeine pills. O_ x Learned to give enemas... that's basically a tube in your bum, using gravity to push water up in you to break down... stuff... if it's like concrete hard [and it CAN get like concrete!!!! O. o]. So ya gotta eat your fiber, homies... Also learned to remove, change, and clean around a stoma. What is a stoma? It's an opening in your abdominal cavity in case your intestines aren't working correctly or if you have urinary problems. It's like this little puckered, shiny, soft protrusion that IS your intestine. There is a pouch there to collect the... stuff. It can get dirty... plus since there is a hole there now... You can't hold in gas... Sooooooo, pt's have to watch what they eat and drink. My Nana has one. It's right at the end of her small intestine, so it's... extra messy. :( You usually get this if a part of your intestine stops working or there is LOTS of damage [temp or permanent]. Hope I didn't ruin anyone's breakfast. T.T We had to do this before lunch! T.T ::THUD:: ::ZzzzZzZZzzzz::

Post Midterm Crisis
::Pokes self:: Nope. Still alive. So yeah. The exam wasn't as bad as I had thought. There were of course the occasional: "Ooooh... I didn't read that chapter... Whoops." ^ ^;;;;; I think mostly I pulled off a rather high B. Not an A. Nononono... I will freak if I do get an A! O_ o
I have the big Dosage Calculation Exam the day after the 4th of July. >. < This is way worse because it's all math and I HAVE to get an 80% or better! T____________T I swam a lot this evening so I'm pretty tired. I'll see you guys next post! ::ZzzzzzzZ::

Urk.
Brain is on auto-pilot right now... Lots of cleaning though... O_ o Oh yes, I cleaned teh room. I just have to put stuff away and suck stuff up in the electric thingy sucker-upper. >. o I finally have an easier week to start teh homework and study more. I've had to work so much! I got paid last Friday! A big old $300 buck-a-roos! xD Yay me. But, $230 goes toward bills so >. < Fack. I saw something really cool this week... It'll take about 20 minutes to watch, but I've never been this impressed in my life.
For those of you that played Mario 64 until you were blue in the face, watch this. It's CRAZY! My brother thinks that it's just crap cause: "It's on an emulator/PC and he slowed down the play speed to think about what he was going to do next." Whatev. Who cares? With all the weird/cool shit in this vid AND still doing it within a DAY................. Doooooode! It's amazing! Watch it, please! It's crazy! Anyway, gotta head to bed. BIG EXAM... |

Ibuprofen...
... aka Motrin & Advil. Indications for use: Mild to moderate pain. Inflammatory disorders [Rheumatoid Arthritis, osteoarthritis], and lowering of fever. Side Effects: [some of MANY] headache [go figure :P ], dizziness, drowsiness, GI bleeding [intestinal/stomach], hepatitis, constipation, nausea, vomiting, rashes, renal failure... I just wanted to type a drug up cause I was bored. There are a lot more side effects than listed. Those were the ones that were more often than others. The ones in red are things that nurse have to look out for in case of surgery or people with hepatic [liver] disease. Those are potentially life threatening. I take at least 800mg [big pill] whenever I get bad headaches or the "lady problems" bother me. I moved down from Naproxen which is basically Aleve, but I had a higher dose than what you get at the store. It's almost the same as Ibuprofen, but it is more absorbed, has a higher risk of bleeding problems because of the interactions with other drugs and food can increase the anticoagulantic [blood thinning] effect. There are more differences, but it's hard to put in normal word fashion. Both thin the blood so you should really tell your doc before surgery if you take this stuff cause it slows down your ability to stop bleeding!! Dangerous if you take some right before it cause you can bleed to death! O. o Always tell about your over the counter meds and even the foods you eat and the vitamins you take! Guess what? If you like garlic or licorice and are taking Aleve those two foods can increase the thinning effect? Kooky, ne? Questions about the drugs! I learn better when I show others what I've learned and what I need to look up to answer. |

Lava lamps...
... have real lava in them, don't they? No!? That's false advertisement, I say! Then again... calling them: "Similar Lava Consistency Lamps" probably wouldn't even grant any publicity. I guess bad publicity really IS great publicity! Now, people buy lava lamps left and right to bust them open and really see if it is lava!! False advertisement is genius! O. o Now...is it still lava... when the lamp is off? Does it turn into a rock or something? I don't have a lava lamp, but I have a "glitter" one. It's purple liquidy schtuff and glitter that moves! Pwetty. ^ ^ Side note: This is what happens when you study pharmacology too hard... sleep deprivation and mentality impaired... ack! I'm even writing up my nursing diagnoses!!!! *doom* Make it stoooop. |

I have a coconut cup...
... but did/do girls really use it as a bra? Doesn't it like itch or something? And what if you were allergic to the coconut oil?! Did you just run around topless? I'm sure the men loved it, but still... Maybe I shouldn't sing "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts" anymore, huh? Well, regardless... they make lovely horses in England, but those one-pound swallows... they can't carry coconuts, can they? |

What about the red brick road?
... I just noticed that the yellow brick road had a red twin in the Wizard of Oz. Just wondering what would have happened had she taken the "road less traveled".
Sometimes I wonder what would have happened had I made other decisions in the past half a year. I know that they probably wouldn't have been good... but, it's funny. I thought that taking a different path that I wouldn't run into what I tried to leave behind. Now I feel awkward... and awful. ::scratches head:: Then again, Dorothy followed the right road anyway and still wound up facing a past she tried to run from.
Damn ruby red slippers... what kinda fashion statement is that? Sequins and blue plaid. Don't get me started on Glinda and her bling bling outfit from beyond the grave [she's dead I think...]. :P
Anyway... I guess I have to face whatever is thrown my way. Lots of run ins to things that I don't wanna deal with anymore, but I just wish I knew how to not feel awkward about it. It's not a bad feeling... more like the feeling is annoying the hell out of me! :P
I've kinda had an achy heart about all this. Just kinda lonely I guess. Naaaah.
Wow. Random post. I think something was in the quesadilla I had for dinner. O_ o

It can't rain all the time...
So bastard stole my umbrella today while I was shopping in the mall. I was looking at DVDs and I had to set it down in order to see all the movies behind each other and this dirty looking guy... just snatches it!!! O_ o I didn't catch him cause he was so fast and there weren't a lot of people in the mall cause it was closing, so no one was able to stop him. The funny thing is that it was raining really hard when I left the mall. It was my favorite umbrella too. A red one. Booo... ... and I had to walk a lot in the rain to get back to my car. My taco got soaked. :(
