I thought I should update.
For the past weeks I've been doing nothing but immersing myself in CATS. Yes, that strange little musical that hardly has any dialogue and the performers do nothing but gallivant onstage dressed as kitties. I absolutely love the musical, but I've never seen it live. I've read all of Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats online and I bought the DVD of CATS after watching all I could of it on YouTube. After said craziness, I got inspired. I started to write a short story after telling my friend Adriana about the musical and my interest in it... Soon, we created two original CATS characters. We did a lot of "shopping" when it came to the pictures and we thought long and hard about what our cat would look like so that it reflected our personalities. I already knew that she was going to be a pretty, slim cat with bold colors and she agreed that I'd be a black fluffy-ish one. I had already come up with a name, but she had some trouble and I soon found out that it wouldn't be so easy with her cat. We thought for a good half hour before I offered up "HiJinx" which she loved. So I wrote out some of the story and I also did some art, which is what I wanted to show you.

Jinx is a short hair calico. She's quick, athletic, good natured, thin, and quite pretty. However, due to a genetic mutation, she has two tails. Besides that, she's a normal queen. She never says, but it seems like she's been with human families before and therefore has more knowledge about humans. Because her companion Solosoot has lost her sense of smell, it's up to Jinx to find their dinners. Jinx seems the polar opposite of Soot and makes friends easily.

Solosoot is my cat and she's something like a black Turkish Angora. She has never had a human family because she never seemed that friendly. In truth, she just doesn't like being disturbed. Her claws are much too long, she looks dirty (though in reality she's a very cleanly creature with fur soft as dandelion fluff), and she looks like a black puffy hell spawn. While she seems outwardly annoyed with Jinx most of the time, she cares a lot for her friend-- not that she'll ever admit that. She provides Jinx with protection.

Some little sketches for fun:

This is the cat that Adriana and based Jinx off of. I was attracted by the bold, rich colors.
Thanks to this site for the picture: http://users.adelphia.net/~rkulrich/Italy_02/Creatures/index.html

The cat I chose as my own. :)

Some serious art made before Adriana chose to have two tails.

A picture I made of our two characters as regular Jellicles.

And why I dislike Grizabella (Yes, I made this):
