Yet another reason why my children shall be sent to boarding school in Europe....
Me: can I help you ma'am?
Middle-aged woman (at the very least): *holds out paper* Yea, I need these books.
Me: *gets her first and third book* Which edition of Romeo and Juliet would you like?
Her: The one by William Shakespeare.
Me: *slow nod* Yes, I know, but which edition? Signet, Folgers, Penguin, American Standard?
Her: *annoyed* The author is William Shakespeare.
Me: *getting irritated but still in sales mode* I know who the author is, ma'am. What I'm asking you is which edition of Romeo and Juliet do you need?
Her: The book.
Me: You mean the play.
Her: No, I want the book.
Me: *on the verge of losing it* Ma'am, Romeo and Juliet is only a play. *points out books on shelves while speaking deliberately slow* Now...which one of these do you want?
Her: *sighs heavily* Well, I want the book, but if all you have is the play, I'll just take any one. If it's wrong I'll just bring it back.
Me: *grabs a Signet copy off the shelf and hands it to her* Have a nice day!
Believe it or not, shit like this happens EVERY FRIGGIN' DAY!!! I kid you not! Today happened to be exceptionally blessed with idiocy.
