Oh. My. God.
Hey guys. Hope all is well with everyone else out there because everything her is everything but well. I guess you could say it's hell. I'm staying at my friend's house right now because my mom got very very sick very very rapidly. It's like, one day, she was great, and the next she could hardly stand. So she got me off to school the next day and I get home and my uncle is there instead of my mom. (my dad is dead) And so he tells us that mom is at the ER and so my friend's mom ends up coming to get me. I end up spending the night with her and during the middle of 5th period today, they called me to the office. The prinicpal tells me that my mom will be staying at the hospital for awhile and I was like, "Okay, how long?" and she said, "At least a couple of weeks." and I looked at her and said, "Why? What's wrong?" and she called my mom's hospital room for my mom to tell me. I pick up the phone and my mom says, "Boo, I'm very sick." and I said, "Yeah, mama, I had that figured out. What exactly is wrong?" and she was quiet for a few minutes and then she sighed and said, "Boo, I have cancer." And then my mind went blank. I didn't know what to do or what to say. I guess my brain just shut off because I woke up a little while later in the nurse's office and they said I had passed out. So then I thought it was all a dream, like maybe, you know, I accidentaly took a bite of the school lunchroom food or ran too much at track practice or something. But then Mrs. Deborah, the nurse, said, "I'm sure your mom will be just fine, Rachel. She's a strong woman. She's pulled through a lot and I'm confident she'll pull through this." so I got up off the cot, I asked her to write me a pass to class, and I went to my class. I didn't absorb anything I was supposed to learn today after that. It's almost like I'm dead.
