ouch
you know what sucks? I was at work...the end. Maby I'll start from the begining:
I got this job over the summer, right, just once a week watering cactus. I was working only once a week for minimum wage but I was happy to have gotten anything. so i had gone in for the fourth or fifth time, you know, just walking my beatlike usual. I still cant figure out why I didnt quit after day one: it was unbearably hot, as tocson often is during summer, and because I never eat breakfast, I was panged with hunger. I hadnt eaten since one or two AM the previos day. hunger is often a problem for me because I never get up for something to eat, I'm to lazy and the hunger usually subsides after about ten minutes.
So I was standing in the heat with an empty stomache. The monotony of the thing was really dogging me down. My job consisted of watering five and ten gallon cacti aming witch are octopus agave, golden barrel cactus and the dreded pricklypear. for those who aren't familliar with native arizonan plants, the more important of said plants, the prikleypear, is covered with tiny golden splinters clustered around a large, white, hard, evil thorn.
I was watering these prickleypears and I droped my water-wand in them. Woohoo. I picked it up only to find that the foam grip on an otherwise smooth water-wand was drenched in these tiny golden prickers, witch, of course, were immediately transfered to my unprotected palm never to retun from the depths of myv skin. Needless to say, it hurt. Like HELL. SO WHAT DID I do?
I kept watering... like an idiot. than I quit.
what a great story. At least I came out of it with $82.50 and the knowledge of a few common cactus names.
