Skii trip..whee..
Like every year, I'm going to be spending a weekend this winter up in the mountains, skiing. And it just so happens that this coming up weekend is that weekend, or else why the heck would I be writing this post? :/

Anyway, I've been going up every year to skii ever since..about seven years ago when I was invited through scouts as a form of "recruitment" to join their troup, lol. I ended up joining a different one, and taking advantage of these skii trips.

Seven years is a long time, and I'd say I'm decent at skiing. My first year was the only year when I took lessons for basics, and from then on I taught myself, so my training isn't very high, lol. I try to parallel skii, but I'm not sure how effective my technique really is. The sort of slopes that I do are mainly blue square, which I believe is a step below diamond. I do a few green circles for fun every now and then, and maybe one or two black diomands when I want to challenge myself. I have done a double black diamond before, but honestly I think it should have been rated a single. I'm not complaining if I get bragging rights, though. :D

The first time I went skiing was, as I said, fourth grade. I went up with the scouts, had a two-hour lesson, and skiied a bit the first day. My friend who was also on the trip invited me to go night skiing with him and his dad, and after convincing my mom that I'd be extremely careful, I set out..night skiing on my first day. All of the elements were against me; it hadn't been snowing so there was hard, fake snow on the ground, the snow had frozen in the night cold, and it was night which reduced eye sight. All it needed was for me to make a stupid decision, and that came when I went down a blue square. I didn't know how to slow down, so my skiis were parallel, going faster and faster until I hit a bump and slammed my head right into the snow. When I went back to school, I had this huge scab on my forehead, and everyone in my class was asking what happened. So naturally, I told them I got attacked by a polar bear.

This time we'll be going up about 8 hours or so to these mountains in New York with some family friends of ours. Yeah, same ones who I went to on New Years day. That should be fun. Also, going up there, I am going to bring our portable DVD player with system hook-ups, so we can watch movies or play video games in the car. I love long car rides. ^_^
