Chapter One
Hello peoples. Well, not much to say right now, but here it is. For those of you that asked for more of the story, here's chapter one.
Haku walked solemnly down the stone hall, staring out the arched windows as he went. The hall had been put together with large, gray bricks with windows to Haku’s left and bedrooms to his right. His cold eyes pierced through the hall as his steps echoed through.
Rain tapped on the floor of the hall, as the windows weren’t set up with glass. The light gray clouds slowly drifted away from view. Haku stopped and looked out a window, but said nothing. Then, his ears perked up.
A small, orange fox ran up to Haku and held up a piece of paper. “The master would like to see you, sir.” It exclaimed.
“Thank you Jinbo. You’re dismissed.” Haku said taking the paper from Jinbo. His cold voice was the usual for the little fox.
“Best of luck to you.” Jinbo said quickly bowing. “There is much work to be done and I shan't waste anymore of you’re time, Haku.” He hastily leapt down the hall, out of Alex’s view.
Haku studied the piece of paper and began walking once more. He turned into another hallway and looked closely at large, bold words written on the paper. “You’ve been summoned…lalala…hmm? Rights of services? What could that mean?” He asked himself. He forgot about it and continued walking.
Eventually, he came up to a large double door. They were trimmed with gold and were made of what seemed to be smooth red oak, much different from the rest of the place. Haku gripped a handle in a lion’s mouth that was attached to the door. He pulled it and the door creaked open.
The room he walked into was the exact opposite of how the rest of the castle looked. The floor was painted a turquoise blue and the walls were a grayish white. Three large, elegant stained glass windows were placed on both of the sidewalls with a large red, gold trimmed carpet running down the middle. Many, small sets of stairs led up to a red throne at the top of the room. A man clothed in navy blue robes was sitting on the throne. His white hair gleamed in the light from windows, but his face looked cold and ruthless.
The man looked down and studied Haku, from his brown hair to his torn vest on the outside of his armor, and to the black and purple wing on Haku’s back. “Haku,” the man said with authority, “do you remember when I first took you in as my own?”
“Of course.” Haku responded. “It was the day after Lethe was burned to the ground. Why do you want to-”
The man interrupted Haku with reminisces about the past. “I remember. I was walking to see where all the smoke had come from, and I saw a city of rubble and you, sprawled over the body of a girl. You were crying so much; I couldn’t help but feel sorry for you. It was then that I took you in and learned about your ordeal. How many years ago was that?”
“Four.” Haku answered with annoyence, due to his master's lack of memory. He was recollecting images from the moment he saw his deceased sister, but couldn’t cry. Haku had never cried after a while of living with this man. He hadn’t felt any emotion since then.
“Yes, yes, four, that’s right.” He told himself with a slight grin. “Couldn’t you even say my name once in a while?”
“Sorry, Andrel.” Haku apologized sarcastically. It seemed that Andrel was used to Haku’s rudeness and merely kept speaking.
“I raised you,” Andrel exclaimed thoughtfully, “and soon you became one of my most favored men. I’m very proud of you Alex, and that’s why I’m assigning you this mission. Apparently, there are villages growing outside this castle, rebellious villages. They don’t approve of us and want to see our downfall. What do you think?”
“I’ll do it.” Haku answered sternly. “No one will stand in our way. I will take these villages out.”
“Good, good.” Andrel said clapping. “Now go.” Andrel snapped his fingers.
The two double doors swung open and many soldiers clothed in scarlet armor marched into the room, spears held high.
“Come.” Haku commanded walking out of the room. All of the soldiers briskly followed him.
“All in due time…” Andrel exclaimed chuckling as the doors shut.
