Rixari stuff
Just random little bits about Caleb and Inay. Mostly Inay. I'm working on Caleb's backstory right now since I'm trying to avoid my homework in Anthropology. I should just do it. It won't take long and it's only supposed to be a page long about the movie we saw in class Tuesday, but I just can seem to bring myself to go look at the movie again or get my stuff from upstairs.
Anyway, for some reason, probably because Inay seriously loathes Rixari and Rixarians, I never gave his parents names. For family on his character sheet, it just says he has a sister named Strawberry. Strawberry and Inay are ten years a part. She's twelve and he's twenty two. So when Inay was ten years old he was shunned. He didn't leave Rixari until Caleb was five, so he was twelve when he left the island and convinced himself he was insane. I always thought he was older when he left but he can't be. Kalevi (Caleb's brother) is ten and Inay left before he was born. That's why he's so fixated on Caleb. If he stayed on the island anothr month or two he would've seen how shunned and hated Caleb was and would leave him alone. Maybe not though. Unlike Caleb, Inay believes in the Fire God (living sun) but he just thinks it hates him for being a half and half. He thinks Caleb's the Fire God and that he's lying to test the Rixarians. Caleb thinks believing in a Fire God is stupid. He says that if there was a Fire God they wouldn't have the need for water or air to survive, they would just need fire. So, the problem both of them have is thinking in some sort of way. Caleb thinks there's more and Inay thinks it's a test.
Well, the kara Masou family is the Chiefs and Chieftesses of Rixari. Funny thing is, they used to be extremely poor hundreds of years ago. The only people with any power in Rixari was the de la Requiem, the family of preists, preistesses and necromacers. They were the only ones with a last name too, but then the prophocy was made and the poor little family was suddenly special and wealthy. They became the kara Masou. So the two powerhouses waited around a couple hundred years for Caleb to be born.
The de la Requiem still have more power then the kara Masou. Right now there is Thaddeus de la Requiem, the priest. His father was a necromancer. Ew. And there's Fola de la Requiem, the priestess. She married in. Then you have Inay de la Requiem, the high-priest. He was shunned and then ran off, but he's still a high-priest. And last is Strawberry de la Requiem, the high-priestess. She's still roaming around Rixari as high-priestess. Inay and Strawberry are elevated because Inay was supposed to be Caleb's personal priest, but then he wasn't special. Kalevi was believed to be special so Strawberry became his personal priestess when he was about two. So she was about four, much later then when Inay was appointed Caleb's priest. He was born Caleb's priest because of the stupid prophocy. That's Inay's family. Well, Fola isn't his mother but she took care of him like he was hers until he was ten. Rixarians have perfection issues or something. I'm not a big fan of them. Caleb's parents pretty much stopped paying attention to him when he was five. They kicked him out of the house when he was eleven and haven't used his name since he was five. Rixarians as a whole are very messed up people. There are a few younger ones that are starting to think that things are weird but they won't say anything after seeing how badly everyone reactted to Caleb. They tried to hang him. He managed to scare them so bad though that they banished him instead.
And I was wondering how Caleb would meet up with Flair and Keoki. The closest thing to him is Sogna. He could drift just enough to be picked up by one of their fishing ships. Then he could meet Giuseppe and get a ride with him to the middle continent since he'd be going there to open opera houses. Just an idea. At least I don't have to worry about Caleb and Inay finding each other. Caleb can run all he wants but he'll never get rid of Inay.
