EVER HEARD OF A SONG THAT CAN KILL...LITERALLY?
Hey guys! Before anything else, I want you to read or, if possible, sing the lyrics of this classic song by Frank Sinatra. It's entitled, "My Way". (Ask your parents or grandparents about him and the song. I bet they know.)
My Way
by Frank Sinatra
And now the end is near
And so I face the final curtain,
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case of which I'm certain.
I've lived a life that's full
I travelled each and ev'ry highway,
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.
Regrets, I've had a few
But then again, too few to mention,
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.
I planned each chartered course
Each careful step along the by way,
And more, much more than this
I did it my way.
Refrain:
Yes, there were times
I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew,
But threw it all when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out,
I faced it all and stood tall
And did it my way.
I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I've had my fill, my share of losing,
And now as tears subside
I find it all so amusing.
To think I did all that
And may I say, not in a shy way,
Oh no, oh no, not me.
I did it my way.
Refrain:
What is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has not,
To say the things he truly feels
And not the words of one who kneels,
The record shows, I took the blows
And did it my way.
(Instrumental)
I did it my way.
"Now why did I share you this song?", you ask. You see in our country, this song has literally killed a number of individuals and injured others. The rising key changes and high notes of this song often cause singers to go out of tune, sometimes resulting in laughter and jeers from listeners, in turn sparking violent reprisals.
Some of these tragedies include:
1. A man getting shot dead and another wounded in February after laughing at a performance of the song;
2. A fight that broke out in a bar last October after a waitress refused to play the song; and
3. A man getting stabbed last week by a listener who didn't like the way the man sang the song.
And when you analyze the lyrics of the song itself, it really sounds like a eulogy for the victim itself! How ironic.
I think this is a bit funny that things like this happen. But on another sense, it's also tragic. To be killed because of being a bad singer and to kill because of singing bad. Has the world gone cuckoo already?
And I really pity ol' Sinatra. He was a renowned singer at his time, (and I guess a legend today) and now his song becomes the cause of a number of deaths? I sure hope the late singer can still rest in peace despite these events.
That's all for today. HAVE A NICE DAY!
