Man on the Edge - Iron Maiden
I'm reading this book called "Chariots of the Gods" by Erich von Däniken. Has anyone read it or heard of it? It's very interesting. It's all about this theory that ancient civilizations
were visited by beings from other planets, and that these beings are the "gods" in all modern religious texts and legends. For example, the story Sodom and Gomorrah, two towns in the Old Testament that were filled with unpleasant people, were supposed to be destroyed by "God" with brimstone and fire. But, the angels that saved Lot and his family acted as if there was a set time in which they had to escape. If God was truly all powerful, couldn't he just wait until Lot and his family were safe to destroy the cities? Däniken hypothesizes that the cities were destroyed by an atomic weapon. The "angels," who were actually just people from another planet, knew this and that they only had a certain amount of time before it hit. At the end of the story, Lot's wife looks back and is turned to a "pillar of salt." If she looked directly into the atomic sun, a similar effect would have in fact happened. Just a little food for thought. Oh yeah, and the Ark of the Covenant? It's a powerful battery. That's why Uzzah died when he grabbed hold of it. Anyway, here's the song.

The freeway is jammed and it's backed up for miles
The car is an oven and baking is wild
Nothing is ever the way it should be
What we deserve we just don't get you see

A briefcase, a lunch and a man on the edge
Each step gets closer to losing his head
Is someone in heaven are they looking down
'Cause nothing is fair just you look around

Falling down

He's sick of waiting of lying like this
There's a hole in the sky for the angels to kiss
Branded a leper because you don't fit
In the land of the free you can live by your wits

Once he built missiles a nation's defence
Now he can't even give birthday presents
Across the city he leaves in his wake
A glimpse of the future a cannibal state

Falling down

The freeway is jammed and it's backed up for miles
The car is an oven and baking is wild
Nothing is ever the way it should be
What we deserve we just don't get you see

A briefcase, a lunch and a man on the edge
Each step gets closer to losing his head
Is someone in heaven are they looking down
'Cause nothing is fair just you look around

Falling down
