   Pharaoh's Future; Chapter 1: Reunion
Well, I decided to put off the next part of my YYH fanfic. I hope all of you don't mind. This is one goes with Yu-Gi-Oh! and I've done extensive research on the whole series so by the time I've completed it and posted everything, all mysteries will be solved and it can logically fit into the anime series. Please don't read if you are waiting for the rest of the series to come out in Eng first, it will give some of the mysteries of the series away. This is a 2-part Fanfic 'Pharaoh's Past' & 'Pharaoh's Future' I thought chp.1 of Future would be a nice intro for my post here.

**Note: Background knowledge of the Yu-Gi-Oh! series is needed for everything to make sense. Don’t read if you do not know the whole series unless you don’t mind spoilers. I got my information from the summaries on www.janime.net**

Yami Yugi passed through the portal where his friends and family from his Egyptian past were waiting for him. Even Seto, Isis, and Shimon were among his former priest even though their souls were previously in Kaiba, Ishizu, and Yugi’s grandpa. Mahado and Mana were also there in person, despite their previous uniting with their ka. He noticed that he had regained the form from 5,000 years ago. His father, the former Pharaoh Akunumkanon, was the first to embrace him.

“Welcome back, my son,” Akunumkanon stated lovingly.

Atemu hugged all his friends and then his father informed him that there was someone who wanted to see him. He led Atemu to a room while the young Pharaoh wondered what this was about. Akunumkanon had Atemu wait out side as he stood in the doorway and conversed with the person inside.

“The ceremonial battle was today,” he started off.

“Oh, that was today, I missed it?” sincerely replied a female’s voice, “I must have been caught up in my work again, how did it turn out? Did he win?”

“Well, I think it went better this time…” He trailed off while bringing Atemu into the room where he saw a young red head at a desk full of piles of papers surrounding a computer. She looked up from her work and upon seeing him, her heart visibly skipped a beat as her face lit up and then changed to a look of distress.

“Did Shadi win then?” she asked Akunumkanon while glancing between her two visitors as she rose from her chair.

“Well no, he didn’t even pose a threat, little Yugi won against Atemu in the final battle,” Akunumkanon explained.

The young woman walked around her desk and speed up her walk towards Atemu, “Of course, I wasn’t there to improve his deck, so must of used his regular strategies which Yugi prepared for!” Upon reaching him, she tightly embraced him, adding to his confusion. She added, “So since his former powers weren’t returned to him, Shadi couldn’t challenge the Pharaoh. This worked out so much better than I could have planned it!” She loosened her grip and looked at him and moved her face closer to his for a kiss.

Atemu drew back in bewilderment, “Uh, do I know you?”

The girl pulled back and lowered her hands from his shoulders to his elbows. Her face expressed horror and sadness.

“What do you mean? Of course you know her!” gasped Akunumkanon, “Why, she’s your fiancée!” *The word ‘fiancée’ is replaced with ‘wife’ as far as the manga is concerned, but this version is edited for the anime. The reason is that Pharaoh is younger in the anime series because due to clues that he was born before the creation of the millennium items in the manga and after their creation in the anime.*

“My what?!” Atemu exclaimed, “I have a fiancée?”

“Well, yes,” said the girl shyly lowering her hands enough this time to grab his and pressed them eagerly, “Don’t you remember me?”

“I haven’t the faintest.”

“Hasn’t your memory returned?” She clenched his hands as if trying to squeeze the memory out of him.

“Yes, it has,” he replied cautiously

“And you still don’t remember me?” she pleaded.

Atemu searched her face for some clue, some hint to who she could be. There was no mention of any such close relationship when he was retrieving his memory. Her pale white skin, her big green eyes, her smooth red hair. She was so different from any of the Egyptians from his past that he thought she would stick out enough for him to remember her. He bit his lip and slightly shook his head. Tears formed in her eyes as she let go of his hands.

“That’s enough Atemu,” Akunumkanon reproached, “You can stop joking now.”

“But father, I really don’t recognize her at all.”

“I’ve waited so long,” the girl muttered to herself.

“I’m sorry,” replied Atemu.

The girl started crying and started to leave. Akunumkanon held her by her shoulders and looked sadly into her face. He drew her into a hug and caressed her hair. She let him for a while then pushed away and ran through the door. Akunumkanon turned sorrowfully and looked at his son who looked down disappointedly.

“I tried,” Atemu sighed.

“I know,” His father comforted his father, “Hopefully it will come back later.”

“I thought my memory was completely restored.”

“Maybe you should go see her and get to know her again.”

“I guess.”

“But first there’s some business to attend to for your arrival, just the standard stuff that everyone goes through,” he put his arm around his son’s shoulders and led him out.
