   The Family of Yoko
[Side Note: this story is irrelated to my other YYH fanfic]

As a friend once told me, “Foxes have litters, right?” So thus began the ideas of Yoko Kurama having multiple siblings. I developed a storyline and it ends up to *gasp* have no love story in it. Sure there’s still family love, but no couples (what a relief to all those fangirls who don’t have to see yet someone else with our beloved Kurama). The story takes place after YuYu Hakusho has ended, therefore, nothing is finalized until I know where the characters are at after the series.

Outline till Ready to write

The gang starts off with a reunion picnic and minding their own business when screaming starts on the other side of a hill. They find many innocent humans are being terrorized by a disguised demon.

The gang yells at her and challenges her, but she comments how it’s not fair that they outnumber her and she is suddenly swallowed by a plant. Yuske blames Kurama for attacking before he had a shot, but Kurama insisted that he didn’t do anything.

“Now you’ve sparked my interest” the demon’s voice rang from the trees. She emerges in a hideous demon form. Yuske turns demon and they start to fight. She overpowers him and knocks him aside. The others discuss who would go next, Hiei is very insistent on being next, but the demon asks if she had a say and insisted on going against the one with long red hair.

Kurama accepts and turns into Yoko. The demon recognizes him and says that he should know her as well. She changed again into a less powerful form, which Yoko did recognize as Yokira. They lunge at each other and start biting each others necks and digging their fingernails/claws into the other’s back. Yuske is recovering and remarks, “That’s an interesting way to fight!”

It was really their way of hugging, since Yokira is Yoko’s sister. He hasn’t contacted his siblings in hundreds of years. They heard about his death, but after the Dark Tournament, rumors came back to demon world that Yoko had returned. She insisted that hey come back to visit. He agreed, but needed a week to get ready.

In that time, it is discovered that Yokira had a human disguise as a gypsy singer for a café while in the human world. She spends a little time with Kurama as he tries to show her how he’s changed demonstrates kindness to her. She just thinks that he’s grown weak to let people take advantage of him. He does not wish to spend too long away, so they agree that he will stay at least a week, if they can still stand him, he will stay a month then choose if he wants to remain a part of the family. If not, then they are never to bother him again, although Yokira agrees to leave him alone, she claims she cannot make that promise for their siblings and he will have take that up with them.

At the end of the week they return to demon world through one of the family’s secret gateways. Everyone is excited to see Yoko again. They catch up with each other and the others are thrilled about Yoko’s achievement of stealing from King Yama’s vault, but then scoff when they learned how he used the Forlorn Hope. True he survived, but how could he be willing to give his life for a human?

Kurama feels detached from his siblings and Yokira tries to understand him. She explains how they want the old Yoko back, but Kurama is happy with his new personality. Yokira then blames their siblings for always picking on him (he’s the runt of the litter and even as Yoko, is still the shortest of the 6). If they didn’t, he wouldn’t have left them to be a loner and be involved with the botched burglary that sent him to the human world where he changed.

They last out the week and the siblings insist that they want Yoko for the rest of the month. Yoko is disappointed, but keeps his end of the bargain. Then their brother who always took charge sprung his latest plan. The whole intention of bringing the siblings together is revealed. Yoko wishes to not participate, but everyone is needed to pull it off and they threaten to hurt his human mother if he backs out.

While they are carrying out the plans, Yuske shows up to stop them. Yoko is ordered to take care of him, but instead he stands by Yuske, opposing his siblings. The leader throws Yoko unconscious with a blast. Yokira disagrees with the fact he did that to their brother, but realizes they must remain united to win, but she vows to herself that she will avenge Yoko after the operation is complete.

Yokira and Yuske fight when he insisted that he had a score from before that he had to settle with her. She is surprised at how much stronger he became since their last fight. She admits that she may have been sloppy to not kill him before in her haste of finding her brother. He defeats her and she is left on the verge of death near the edge of the cave while the battle ensues.

By then Yoko has regained consciousness and transformed back to Kurama, laughing about how embarrassing it would be for them if he defeated them in his human form that they detest so much. He and the leader go at it while the remaining 3 take on Yuske. Kurama and Yuske are victorious.

Yuske goes to Yokira and tells her all her siblings are dead. She asks him to put her out of her misery and take her life. He would, but since she spared him before, he would do the same for her this time, but Kurama may still chose to kill her. Then Yuske warned her that should she live, if ever they met on opposing sides again, then he wouldn’t be so forgiving.

He and Kurama then left. Yokira reminisced on the new Kurama. His last act of kindness in sparing her life hit her the hardest. But why? What made him that way? How did he turn into a completely different character? Could she do the same?
