Music!
My CDs came in the mail today *does a little dance and doesn't care if anyone sees it* It's been too long since I ordered any music, the anime started taking up most of my spending. And given the fact that 99% of my music collection is made up of CD's ordered on the internet, it's always a joy to get more, since I can't simply waltz into a store and buy them.
This time I got:
Threshold - "Dead Reckoning" (their brand new album)
Suspyre - "A Great Divide"
Thought Chamber - "Angular Perceptions" (new Prog-metal band featuring the vocals of Ted Leonard of Enchant)
Circle II Circle - "Burden Of Truth" (concept album based on the Da Vinci Code story & Holy Blood, Holy Grail)
And in the next couple of months, new releases from Rush, Dream Theater, Kamelot, and Queensryche will be popping up. 2007 is turning into a stellar year for Progressive rock/metal fans.

Nothing much happening, but I figure until the pace of life picks up, I'll post at least once or twice a month, just to keep the journal from flagging. Overall, it's not a bad weekend:
My video suggestion made it as this week's Otaku Attraction.
Doctor Who has reached the first 2-part story of the new season, which I'm currently downloading.
An acquaintence made a CD of 100 J-Rock songs which she gave to me.
My latest CD order should be arriving within very few days.
I'm kicking back to a MythBusters marathon on TV.
All in all, one of the better weekends I've had in awhile.

Job Hunting
Slowly beginning to work my way around all the possibilties we've looked into for a job. Went to the post office today looking for information on maybe taking the civil service exam. I have a couple of other prospects I'd rather check out first. I'll have more updates later.

Just to say something...
I know I said I wouldn't post again until I had positive news on the job front, but I'm just going to throw this in so that what I had before doesn't continue to linger. I'm feeling much better than I did when I last posted, and I'm keeping somewhat busy continuing to edit a story for a friend from another forum. It's actually a little bit of a challenge, because I first had to come up with a system for marking all the various changes that needed to be made. It's a great story though, and I look forward to continuing to edit it - at 22 Chapters, it's only halfway done. I'm hoping this will also spur me to commit something down to... um, paper =P

Feeling Rotten
My habits will eventually kill me. I stay up way too late, and with my medical issues I'm really putting a drain on myself. I need more sleep, and I need more exercise. And I need to get out of this house for more than 2-3 hours a day, if I'm lucky. Since last summer I've just been off kilter, being cranky more often and snapping at my family when I really shouldn't. I've been starting to finally feel the toll since February, and over the weekend I've been teetering on the edge of being a physical and emotional wreck.
This week I'm lighting a fire under my rear to get a job. I need work, I need money, I need a life. I need the opportunity to meet and interact with new people and hopefully make friends, people I can spend time with once in awhile.
I'll wait to post again until I can say something about whatever job (out of the options I have lined up) I get.

Banal and Beta
The relatives have been gone since Wednesday, so it's back to banal for me. Although I'm working on the job angle and have taken up the task to beta read and edit someone's Bleach fanfiction. Gotta prove myself worthy of that BA in English I worked oh so hard for.

Family Invasion
Wow... I take back what I said about not much happening. Where before we were going to have just an aunt, uncle, and cousin visiting, it's suddenly turned into a small family reunion as a surprise for my aunt's 60th birthday. Now for an indeterminate time we're going to be invaded by 9 people and a herd of weiner dogs; that's another uncle and his girlfriend, they always bring their daschunds with them.
This is going to get crazy...

Not Much Happening
Not a lot has happened lately. It's been wonderfully quiet since that whole jury duty thing *shudder* A few nice things though:
- 2nd meeting of the Manga Book Club was last night. It's still hard to get such a big group to really be focussed on discussion, and having it in a corner of a book store doesn't help much. Ironically it's better when the meeting is over and a few of us hang around for another hour or so talking amongst ourselves. I was also convinced to read the Kanshin manga, so I've started getting that.
- I finally found pocky today!!! Heh, I had to look in one of the small Wal-Mart Neighborhood Markets, and they only had strawberry and chocolate. I'm going to still look for an Asian food market around here to see if I can track down other flavors.
- Relatives will be ariving this weekend to visit for a few days, including a cousin I haven't seen in something like 15 years or more.
- I've got a few more job ideas lined up and need to get off my lazy tucus and make calls and send in applications.
That's pretty much it for now. I can't think anything major will change until I get something definitive going with work.

Disorder in the Court?
Not really. But I did have to report for jury duty. Most of it was "hurry up and wait." We were divided into two groups, each going to a different judge.
While the other group ended up being dismissed eventually beacuse the person in their case made a deal, my group did have to go through some initial questions.
We broke for lunch, came back, waited some more *drums fingers* and when we got called back in we were told that our guy had entered a plea, so we too were dismissed.
Although this was an interesting first glimpse in the actual judicial process... I hope it's a loooong time before I have to go through that again, preferably not ever.
And now I'm totally wiped out and on the verge of collapse. At least it's over.

Jury Duty?
I have to call a phone # tonight to find out if I still have to report for jury selection tomorrow morning... VERY EARLY morning o_O Not exactly the best time to be asking people a bunch of questions, but then I'm not a morning person.
So we'll see what happens. More on this later.
