Blink & Speed Grapher
Wow... that was quite an episode, and it was one of the best I've ever seen. It was nice and creepy, although given the age I'm at it wasn't very scary =P For younger kids watching though, I bet quite a few would jump and hide during certain scenes.
The Weeping Angels are a very nice concept for an alien species: they don't exist when they're being observed, instead they turn to stone. But then you look away and they come to life... *shiver* They don't turn you to stone though. They touch you, send you back in time, and feed off the potential energy you could have had living the rest of your life in the present.
Heh, I could go on but I won't ramble =P Suffice to say, it was a well-crafted story.
And last night (or make that early this morning), I finished Speed Grapher. Although it doesn't always have the best animation, what made it work was the interesting story, and most importantly the characters. When you can get so involved in a story that what's happening makes you yell at your TV, you know you've found something good =P I'd have to rate it as one of my favorite anime now.
For the younger viewers though, be warned: despite it's trappings of people turning into monsters with weird powers, it's essentially about a society that has completely given in to greed and excess. There's a reason why the show has an "M" rating.
Now, what to watch next...?
