Faust VIII from Shaman King
FaustVIII is a tragic hero who loses his one, most treasured and beloved wife. He had slaved for years in his youth trying to cure the disease in her when they were young. Finally, with many trials, he succeded. They got married and started a clinic. His wife was murdered shortly after this.
In his efforts to revive her he was driven into insanity. In his insanity, he resorted to necromancy to revive her body. But that was all he could revive, he could never find her soul. Therefore he fights in the Shaman Fights to get her soul. If one wins the fight, they get to speak to "the DIVINE BEING" and do miracles. Faust wants to make the miracle of TOTALLY reviving the body and soul of his beloved wife, Eliza.
He had a noble cause but stooped to dishonorable means.

Faust
Faust, while not only being a character in the very popular Shaman King Manga, is a name very few people knew before his debute in the manga. As, you might have guessed, Faust was a Necromancer. These sorcerors gained their power from Lucifer(aka Satan, the devil, and that red guy w/ horns, a tail, and a pitch-fork). The only way you could gain this power is by giving your soul over to this demon. I must say one must be increddibly stupid to do this. To hand over your soul to gain incredible power for about 60 years is nothing compared to the infinite time you'll spend suffering after the demon claims you at death.
But who wants to hear one of MY leactures? Anywho, Faust was a master foremost of illusions and summoning demons. His art of necromancy was only conducted in secret.
He used his power of illusion many times to trick the people/s around him. I won't go into great detail because it takes up too much space. Anyone can find additional information on the internet.
German soldiers during the end of WW2 tried to find Faust's book of his sorcery and necromancy. I have a belief that they wanted to raise an "ARMY OF THE DEAD" from their fallen comrads and allies to fight for them. A DEMON would be pretty useful in a scrap too, also the ability to cast illusions would be devestating. Lucky for us, they never found it.
Many people believe that the Faust Legend isn't true. But we have a bad tendency to shy away from stories of the evil and vile. I say their is truth in this story. I believe Necromancy is a true sorcery.
O yes, before you try to do magic, consider this:
Faust died screaming. When his lackeys found him, he had been flayed, he was laying in shit, his eyes had been ripped out along w/ his toung, his skin was in pieces around him, and a their was a hole in his chest. This hole was made by some huge, blunt object pushing its way through his back and out his chest. It was judged that ONLY THEN he had died.
Faust had been tempted by power and greed, he payed the price for it. For in his greed, he signed his death warrant.
I wish to say to any who read this, don't do sorcery. The price is too great and no amount of power can EVER keep you form dieing.
