Review of the anime Berserk
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Berserk

Value: 4/5

Genre. Action

Rating. 16+

STORY.

Guts is a young warrior who wields a huge sword. He attracks the attention of Griffith who is the leader of a elite mercenary unit called Band of the Hawk. He asks Guts to join and although Guts isn't exactly thrilled he comes to join the unit. Over the years he rises through the ranks and the other members become his friends and family. He finds himself helping Griffith fulfilling his dream of becoming part of the nobility and starts to wonder what his dreams are. Can he find his own dream and can is Griffith willing to pay the price for his dream?

CHRACTERS.

Guts. A young fighter who wields a huge sword. After attracting Griffith's attantion he joins his unit and soon rises through the ranks. He also becomes good friends with Griffith and the other mercenaries.

Griffith. As a child he had a dream to one day become the ruler of the land and made a pact. To make his dream come true he founded a mercenary unit and becomes a very powerfull and wanted leader. He is very skilled in weapons, tactics and very ambitious.

Caska. She is the second in command of Griffith's unit and the onlu female fighter. She is very good however and she has followed Griffith sinds a very early age. She loves him deeply and will do any thing for him.

Band of the Hawk. This is a elite unit of mercenaries that are led by Griffith. They are all very good fighters and a tight unit that is loyal to Griffith alone.

ART & MUSIC.

Both the art (5/5) and music (5/5) are excellent.

VOICE ACTING

The Japanese acting was great as usual (5/5). I didn't watch the English dub so i don't know how good or bad it was.

Personal note. Love this anime. The story is very good and so is the action. It is also very violent and bloody. The story follows the group over the course of a few years and although new members come and go the core of the unit remains the same. It is fun to watch them grow and develop and it is quite rare to see this in anime's so this is a extra treat. Annoying is the end though as it left me rather unsatisfied and makes me wonder whether there is a second season. Also the first episode gives something away as the first episode could just as easely could have been the last so this spoils it somewhat. Stll a great anime.

Review of the anime Battle Skipper the Movie
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Battle Skipper the Movie

Value: 3/5

Genre. Action/mecha/comedy

Rating. 13+

STORY.

Soari, Shihoko and Sayaka are all first years who are elected to enter St Ignacio. This is a elite school where only the best students are allowed. They each deside to join the etiquette club in favor of the bedutant club. By accident they discover the etiquette clubs secret and find some powerfull battle skippers. They start to pilot these machines and are soon full members of the etiquette club. Just as they start to pilot the powerfull battle skippers they get a new and powerfull enemy. The president of the debutant club is hyngry for more power and feels that the Battle skippers are in her way. Can the girls hold the ambitions of the powerfull woman in check?

CHRACTERS.

Saori. She has been Shihoko's best friend for years. She follows Shihoko into the etiqutte club where she discovers the clubs secret.

Shihoko. She is Saori's best friend. She isn't the quickest or the brightest girl around. As she is very impressed with Rei and Reika and because of this she wants to join the etiquette club instead of the debutant club.

Kanami. She is very smart and is among the top three students in the country. Although she doesn't look it she is also very athletic.

Sayaka. She is very rich and very well connected. She is the president of the debutant club and very ambitious for more power.

Rei. She is very tough and action-oriented. She is also vice-president of the etiquette club who, at the school, is the only opposition for the debutant club.

Todo. He is Rei's personal servant and completely obedient to her. He will do anything she wants and worships the ground she walks on.

Reika. She is the very gracefull and the best student of St.Ignacio. She is the president of the etiquette club. It was her grandfather who build the battle skippers as a way to atone for all the destructive weapons he was forced to create.

Battle Skippers. These are powerfull robots designed for combat. They are a cross between tanks and the typical humanoid robots.

ART & MUSIC.

Both the art (5/5) and music (5/5) are excellent.

VOICE ACTING

The Japanese acting was great as usual (5/5). I didn't watch the English dub so i don't know how good or bad it is..

Personal note. The fact that they put the word movie behind the title suggests that there is a series of this anime. I'm not sure if this is a good thing. It isn't a bad anime but it sure isn't that good either. All of it has been done before, after and better than this. If you have seen the series and liked it than you will probably love this movie.

Review of the anime Bastard
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Bastard!!

Value: 4/5

Genre. Action/comedy

Rating. 13+

STORY.

Years ago the Bastard Dark Schneider was leading a large army bend on world conquest when he was defeated and imprisoned. Now he is the only hope of the people of Meta-Rikana to stop another army from conquering them. Dark isn't about to help the people who had kept him imprisoned for years but he wasn't going to let someone else conquer them either. Especially when he learns that the army is led by his former generals.

CHRACTERS.

Dark Schneider. A very powerfull warrior and warlock who once led a huge army. After years of imprisonment he is released to stop his old army from doing what he failed to do. Besides being very strong he is close to being immortal and very hard to kill.

Rushe. A young boy who is the container that holds Dark Schneider. He is a kind and sweet boy who is friends with Yoko.

Yoko. She is the daughter of the high priest and the one who holds the key to release Dark from his prison. Because she and Dark's imprisoned form Rushe were friends she can somewhat control him.

Kall-Su. One of the Four lords of Havoc and a former generall of Dark. He is a powerfull wizard.

Gara. One of the Four lords of Havoc and a former generall of Dark. He is a powerfull warrior and a ninja master. He was once send by a kingdom to kill Dark but impressed by him he joined his army instead.

Arshes Nei. One of the Four lords of Havoc and a former generall of Dark. She is a dark elf and also Dark's former lover. He found her when she was still a child, raised her as his daughter and taught her everything she knows.

Abigail. One of the Four lords of Havoc and a former generall of Dark. He is very powerfull and now leads the army in Dark's place but for very different reasons. He wants to free Ansla Sax.

Ansla Sax. God of ultimate evil who burned the old world in seven days. There are four seals that keep him prisoner one of which is lokated in Meta-Rikana.

ART & MUSIC.

Both the art (5/5) and music (5/5) are excellent.

VOICE ACTING

The Japanese acting was great as usual (5/5). I did watch the English dub and while it wasn't bad i didn't like it (3/5).

Personal note. I really like this anime, the story and the action are excellent. The humor is less important than the action but i still found it pretty funny. There is also some nudity in this anime and a lot of blood and violence. The end is very open however and lends itself to a sequal that isn't there.

Review of the anime Banner of the Stars II
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Banner of the Stars II. (This is the third part of the crest of the Stars)

Value: 5/5

Genre. Action/comedy/drama

Rating. 13+

STORY.

It is some time after the events in Banner of the Stars and the Abh empire is launching his own assault and beating the alliance back on all fronts. This has a problem however as they conquer a lot of systems which need to be overseen by a Abh nobel. Lafiel and Jinto get the job of overseeing one such systems and they soon discover that this isn't as easy as it sounds. Especially as this is a prison planet. Things seem to be going well however untill a remnent of the enemy fleet breaks through and heads strait for them. While they are trying to figure out what to do some of the prisoners revolt and Jinto is lost somewhere on the planet. Lafiel is forced to choose between her hart and her duty, can she make the right desission and save them all?

CHRACTERS.

Jinto lin. He was a normal boy who became a member of the Abh nobility. He still sees himself as the normal boy he used to be and doesn't hold much value to his title. He becomes friends with Lafiel who liked the fact that he treats her as a normal person too.

Lafiel. She is a member of the Abh royal family who has become Jinto's friend beause he treats her like a normal person. Because of her royal heritage this she usually appears cold and distand but she is nothing of the sort.

Bebaus. He is the admiral in charge of the system that they must defend. The rumour is that he is suffering from his family curse and is completely insane.

Abh. The are build for space travel and almost never set foot on a planet. They have blue hair, live for over 200 years and look a lot like elfs. They have no interest whatsoever in the planets that inhabit the systems they conquer other than to maintain the peace.

United Mankind. This is one of the four factions remaining that opposes the Abh. They are the most aggressive of the three and they hate the Abh with a passion. They are the most powerfull faction after the Abh.

Federation of Hania. One of the four factions. They have allied themselfs to United Mankind and are the second strongest faction in the alliance.

Republic of Greater Alcont. One of the four factions. They have allied themselfs to United Mankind and are the third strongest of the alliance.

People's Sovereign Union of Planets. One of the four factions. They have allied themselfs to United Mankind and are the weakest of the alliance.

ART & MUSIC.

Both the art (5/5) and music (5/5) are very good.

VOICE ACTING

The Japanese acting is great as usual (5/5). I haven't seen the English dub so i don't know how good or bad it was..

Personal note. What is there not to like about this one. Action, drama, humor, romance and a great story. This anime has it all. Where Banner of the Stars was more about the war and the battles this story is much more about Jinto and Lafiel. The character development is continued and you can see the characters grow more and more. At the start of the very first episode they show a part of the anime where they speak the original language of the Abh. They also do this at the start of each episode.

Review of anime Banner of the Stars
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Banner of the Stars. (This is the sequel of the anime Crest of the Stars)

Value: 5/5

Genre. Action/comedy/drama

Rating. 13+

STORY.

It is three years after the events of Crest of the stars and Jinto has finished his officer training. He gets assigned to the assault ship the Basroil where Lafiel is captain. Dispite not having seen each other for this time their friendship is as strong as ever. The joy of being reunited is overshadowed however by the fact that the war is raging as strong and violently as ever. They soon find themselfs in the thick of battle against a relentless enemy who is using a new devastiting weapon. Can they hold long enough for the reinforcements to arrive?

CHRACTERS.

Personal note. What is there not to like about this one. Action, drama, humor, romance and a great story. This anime has it all. Unlike Crest of the Stars this anime is a lot more serious. War has broken out and there are a lot of battles but there is still a lot of humor left and the story is excellent. The character development is continued and you can see the characters grow more and more. At the start of the very first episode they show a part of the anime where they speak the original language of the Abh. They also do this at the start of each episode.

Review of anime Azumanga Daioh
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Azumanga Daioh.

Value: 4/5

Rating: 10+

Genre. Comedy

STORY.

Basically the story is about a group of children as they go through school. The group is followed over a three year period during which they deal with all of the school isues that pop up. Such as the super smart ten year old prodigy Chiyochan, school rivalries and wierd teachers.

CHRACTERS

Yukari. The english homeroom teacher of the girls. She is the biggest child in the class. She is always in fierce rivalry battle with the sports teacher Minamo.

Minamo. The sports teacher. She has known Yukari all her live but unlike yukari she has grown out of her child phase (somewhat).

Chiyo. A child prodogy. She skips kindergarden and is at ten years the youngest pupil in the class. She excels at her studies but is very bad at sports. Dispite her age she is one of the more responsible people in the class.

Osaka. This is not the real name of this girl but as she is a transfer student from Osaka everyone calls her that. She is a real airhead and her greatest hobby is sleeping.

Tomo. The typical energetic girl. She jumps around and makes a lot of noice but most of her energy is wasted as it laks direction. She scores near the bottom of the class with her test scores.

Kagura. Is a sportsbuff. She is a member of the swmteam and joins the class in the second year. She tries to be the rival of Sakaki who is a natural athleet and beats Kagura at sports regularely

Sakaki. She is a natural athlete and also a good student. She is cool and collected but goes absolutely nuts over animals as her dream is to become a veterinarian. The only problem is that every cat she tries to pet attacks her.

Yomi. Lifelong friend of Tomo she is a good student and a average athlete. She fights a lot with Tomo and is always worried about her weight.

ART & MUSIC.

Art (5/5) and music (5/5) are excellent.

VOICE ACTING

The japanese acting is once again excellent (5/5). Didn't watch the english subs, if anyone has let me know.

Personal note. I realy loved this series. It was a little hard to get into the storie because there are a lot of things that are specific for Japanese culture. So there might be some gags that you won't understand. But the ones that do come through are more than worth it.

Review of anime Armageddon
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Armageddon

Value: 1/5

Genre. Action

Rating. 13+

STORY.

Years ago live started in the Andromedas system. These liveforms creared powerful computers which they launched into space with a mission to create new live on other worlds. Delta 88-89 created Earth while Gama 6666 created live on another planet. Both computers are bitter enemies and are trying to destroy each other. Delta 88-89 creates the perfect weapon in the form of Delta Boy who is a normal human who has incredible powers locked within him. While agents of Gama 6666 try to kill him before he reaches his potentiol it is up to the warriors of Elca, a world allied to Delta 88-89, to protect and guide him. Will Delta boy be succesfull in saving the Earth and destroying Gama 6666?

CHRACTERS.

Delta 88-89. The computer responsible for creating live on Earth and the greatest opponent of Gama 6666.

Gama 6666. Like Delta 88-89 a computer send out to create new live. He hates Delta 88-89 and wants to destroy him and the Earth with it.

Delta Boy/Haï Sung. Haï is a ordinairy student who has now idea of the powers that are hidden within him.

Casaros. A very cruel and powerful general who works for Gama 6666.

Elca. A world that is allied to Delta 88-89. Their technology is far mor advanced than that of Earth and they will do anything to protect Delta Boy.

Era/Pandora. Era is the Queen of Elca. She has sworn to protect Delta Boy but she isn't very happy to see him. The reason for this has to do with the fact that her twin sister Pandora sacrificed herself to save him.

ART & MUSIC.

Both the art (5/5) and music (5/5) are excellent.

VOICE ACTING

Korean voice acting (that's a first)..... Maybe it's because i wasn't used to it but i really hated it. I'm sure they tried their best and all but like everything else it sucked.

Personal note. Never have i felt such a strong urge to gouge out my eyes as when i watched this. This is beyond bad and i have no idea how i managed to watch it till the end.

Review of anime Arjuna
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Arjuna

Value: 4/5

Genre. Action/comedy/drama

Rating. 13+

STORY.

Juna is a normal highschool girl who tries her best to make it in present day Kobe. Then one day she and her friend Tokio get into a accident and she is rushed to hospital. While hovering between live and death she has a vision of the Earth being destroyed by huge monsters. She is given a choice by Chris to either die or to become the avatar of time and help save the planet. She accepts and the powers within her are awakened. She joins a organisation called SEED who are fighting the monsters called Raaja. Unfortunately she has no clue how to use her powers or how to fight the Raaja. The battle for Earth has becun and the fate of the world lies in the hands of one confused girl.

CHRACTERS.

Juna. She is a normal girl who is told that she is the avatar of time. She is able to feel the pain of the world and is sensitive to any damage done to it. Although she tries to do her best to fight the Raaja she is often scolded by Chris for doing it wrong.

Chris. A sickly young boy who has the same powers as Juna. Due to his illness he spends most of his time in a weelchair or in hospital. His mind however has no such problems and he often sends it out to help and guide Juna.

Tokio. He is a friend of Juna and he has a crush on her. Although he doesn't always understand the new Juna he refuses to leave her side.

Cindy. She is a loud mouthed young girl who takes care of Chris. She is very protective of him and doesn't believe that Juna is the avatar of time. She is a very powerfull telepath who translates for Chris who has lost the ability to speak.

Raaja. These are wormlike monsters who appear to be ravaging the world. As they can't be seen by normal humans most people don't see the threat they pose. The truth is that most if not all Raaja are created by humans by polluting the planet.

ART & MUSIC.

Both the art (5/5) and music (5/5) are excellent.

VOICE ACTING

The Japanese acting was great as usual (5/5). I didn't watch the English dub so i don't know how good or bad it is.

Personal note. At first i was in two minds about this anime. I liked it a lot but all the enviromental messages slowed the story and action down. However i find myself watching it again and again. Not only that but it gets better every time. This is a great anime with a powerfull message about how we are destroying the world we live in.

Review of anime Arc the Lad
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Arc the Lad

Value: 3/5

Genre. Action

Rating. 13+

STORY.

The world used to be a peaceful place that was governed by the five geniuses. But now the land is torn apart by wars and the land cries out for a savior. As things start to heat up once again some people will stop at nothing to get more power. They even start to create chimera's again and are collecting people from all over the world. The only thing that is in their path is a young man called Arc. Will he be able to stop them and restore peace to the land?

CHRACTERS.

Arc. A very powerful young man who can control the wind. He collected a number of special people like himself and he dedicated his life to stopping people who abuse others.

Liisa. Like Yeaiko she was taken from her village because of her special ability. Just what this ability is is unclear but it does allow her to comunicate with animals. She is very kind and gentle.

Gulaibo. A city official who wields a lot of power. Although he appears loyal it is clear that he has a agenda of his own.

Yeaiko. After his vilage was destroyed he was saved by Xiu who trained him as a Hunter. He has the ability to call fire and use it as a deadly weapon. His goal in live is a capture Arc who he believes is responsible for the destruction of his village.

Xiu. A very skilled Hunter and Yeaiko's mentor. He found Yeaiko in the desert 5 years before and decided to take him with him.

Chimera. Although they look like man and may have been human once they are now monsters. Different chimera have different powers but all are very powerful.

ART & MUSIC.

Both the art (4/5) and music (4/5) are excellent.

VOICE ACTING

The Japanese acting is great as usual (5/5). I didn't watch the English dub so i have no clue how good or how bad it was.

Personal note. What to say about this one? Perhaps it is best said this way. I have a excellent memory for some things. Especially books and anime's i can often remember if not perfectly than at least what it was about. This one though.....complete blank, i just can't remember what it was about. Some charecters stuck around but even they are very unclear. This doesn't mean that it is a bad anime but just that it is either very average or not very memorable. If you do know this anime better than me feel free to post your personal comment.

Review of the anime Aquarian Age
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Aquarian age.

Value: 4/5

Genre. Action/drama

Rating. 13+

STORY.

Kyouta and his friends have a band whos dream is to become pop idols. They get a lucky break when a Cosmopop agent offers to manage their debut. Just as things look like it can't go wrong Kyuota starts to get visions of magical girl battling it out in the sky. Only they aren't visions, Kyouta is about to get caught in the middle of a five way magical battle that has been raging for centuries. Not only that but his girlfriend Yoriko is also part of it and she holds the power to tip the balance of the stalemate.

CHRACTERS.

Kyouta. He is a young man who dreams of becoming a popular idol. He starts to notice some strange things around him and sees magical girls fighting in the sky. He learns that he has a power to and that he is a mindbreaker.

Yoriko. She has been Kyota's friend for years and loves his singing very much. She is also afraid of her power and the fate people try to pin on her.

Shingo/Junichi. These are the other bandmembers in Kyouka's band.

Mindbreakers. Mindbreakers are humans who have the ability to control the magical girls. Each mindbreaker has their own method of releasing the power but most if not all want to controll them for the power it gives them.

Abuto. A mindbreaker who is after Yoriko because of her power. Controling her will give him immense power. He uses his position as manager of a talent agency to lure girls to him.

Kanae. One of the magical girls, a Darklore, who is under Abuto's control. She is intensly jelous of Yoriko because Abuto focuses his attention on Yoriko instead on her.

ART & MUSIC.

Both the art (5/5) and music (5/5) are excellent. The music plays a very important part in the anime and Kyouta is a very good singer who performes with his band.

VOICE ACTING

The Japanese acting is great as usual (5/5).

Personal note. I liked this anime a lot. It would have been usefull if they explained the situation between the factions a bit more than they did but this is not a necessity. The story is very good and the music is excellent.

Review of the anime Appleseed OVA
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Appleseed

Value: 2/5

Genre. Action

Rating. 13+

STORY.

Olympus is a very advanced city whos day to day business is run by a supercomputer called Gaia. Like any other city there is crime here but in order to deal with these threats a elite police unit excists called ESWAT. Then a famous terrorist sets his sights on Olympus and he tries to finish what he started years before. His target is the computer that runs the city but facing him are two officers of ESWAT. Will they be succesful in stoping Sebastian and save the city?

CHRACTERS.

Deunan. She is a member of ESWAT and a expert on counter terrorism. She is rather violent, doesn't have a sweet personality and is very persistend,

Briareos. He is Deunan's partner. After 'surviving' a assassination attempt his body is almost completely mechanical.

ESWAT. Extra Special Weapons And Tactics. A elite unit of officers who are tasked with protecting the city of Olympus.

Gaia. The supercomputer that runs the day to day live of the city.

Sebastian. A terrorist that is trying to hack into Gaia's systems for his own goals. He always seems to be one step ahead of ESWAT.

ART & MUSIC.

Personal note. For those who wonder, this is the original Appleseed. There is a new series out that is made in CGI but i don't have it. If you have read my review about Urda you may understand why i'm not exactly eager to get it either. Back to this though. Pretty standard anime, it isn't anything special and there a lot like it. For fans of the genre it may be interesting but otherwise......

Review of anime Angel Sanctuary OVA
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Angel Sanctuary OVA

Value: 2/5

Genre. Action

Rating. 13+

STORY.

Setsuna is a young boy who lives in Tokyo and has a huge crush on his siter Sara. If this isn't bad enough strange things start to happen and he is constantly being attacked by powerful creatures. Piece by peice he learns that a powerful creature livies within his pody. Inside him resides the dormant spirit of one of the most powerful celestial beings i the cosmos, the organic angel Alexial. Dazed and confused by the turmoil inside him he dsides to run away with his sister but they soon are attacked again. Sara dies and Alexial is awakened by Setsuna's rage and grief. Mourning his loss he gets told that Sara can be revived but before he can do so he must reclaim her soul. Will they be reunited?

CHRACTERS.

Setsuna. A young boy who has a huge crush on his sister and who houses the spirit of a powerful celestial being. As Alexial starts to wake up it changes Setsuna making him violent and very strong.

Sara. She is Setsuna's sister. She is a very kind, naïve and gentle girl who shares her brothers feelings for her.

Kira. He is Setsuna's friend and protector. Although he looks human his knowledge about the celestial war shows he's no ordinary man.

Alexial. One of the most powerful celestial beings ever created. She revolted against God and was sealed inside the body of a mortal. As she unknowingly changes Setsuna he changes her creating a mix of the two personalities.

Rosiel. He is Alexial's twin brother and he will do anything to revive her. He is very powerful, vain and cruel.

Katan. He is Rosiel's loyal and obedient servant. He will do anything for him but doesn't want to revive Alexial because he fears that she will hurt Rosiel again.

Arachne/Kurai. They are two demons who are trying to awaken Alexial in order to continue their fight against God.

ART & MUSIC.

Both the art (5/5) and music (5/5) are excellent.

VOICE ACTING

The Japanese acting is great as usual (5/5). I didn't watch the English dub so i don't know how good or bad it was.

Personal note. Sounds like a good story doesn't it? So why just 2 stars.....Well it has to do with the ending of the anime or rather the lack of one. The end is a cliffhanger that ends when Setsuna is about to start his journey to recover his sisters soul. I know it isn't like me to tell you how a anime ends but.....what end? This just stops in the middle of the story. If there is a version somewhere that continues beyond this point then get it. This story has so much potential that i'm very disappointed with the end result. You could of course get the manga instead as that will almost certanly cotinue with the story (or at leat i hope so).

Review of the anime Angel Cop
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Angel Cop

Value: 1/5

Genre. Action

Rating. 16 years and older.

STORY.

With crime and terrorism on the rise a special police force is created who have permission to deal with said criminals with deadly force. Angel is a member of this force and she deals with them ruthlessly. Then others start to kill the criminals as well but these hunters appear to be using strange powers. Determent to get to the bottom of things Angel starts to investigate.

CHARACTERS.

Angel. A very tough female cop who shoots first and asks no questions. Her work is her live and she lets nothing get in her way.

Raiden. He is Angel's partner. Unlike Angel he isn't so ruthless and usually tries non-violent methods first. After being critically hurt in a crash he is rebuild with cybernetics.

Ichihara. He's the head of the institute for cybernetics. He finds Raiden critically wounded and takes him with him to his lab.

Hunters. These small group of psychics were trained by the military. Each hunter has special abilities making them extremely powerful and deadly.

Asuro. One of the Hunters. He can teleport, use telepathy and telekineses. Although he hates criminals and has no trouble killing them he doesn't want to hurt innocents.

Freya. Dispite her young age she is a Hunter. She can use telepathy and can create a powerful shield to protect herself. She always stays close to Asuro with whom she is friends with.

Lucifer. Leader and most powerful of the Hunters. She can use telekineses and drain her victems of knowledge and power. She can use her powers to regenerate and is extremely tough. Like Angel she will let nothing stop her and she is without mercy.

Red May. One of the many terrorist organisations that threaten the peace. The have the bad luck of being selected by both the Hunters and the police.

ART & MUSIC.

Both the art (3/5) and music (3/5) are OK. The art is a bit dated but still good.

VOICE ACTING

The Japanese acting was great as usual (5/5). I didn't see the English dub so i have no idea how good or bad it was.

Personal note. A standard tough cop movie with the tough cop being a female this time. I have absolutely no problem with this and i usually prefer this over male characters. Unfortunately it doesn't work in this case as the story is very bad. Also the Raiden thing bothered me. Not the fact that he gets turned into a killing machine but the way it is done. The entire procedure takes place in a day and not only that but he apperently has no problems with it. If i were to wake up after a crash and some wierd docter i never saw before tells me i'm now a cyborg i would be pretty darn pissed.

Review of the anime Amon Saga.
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Amon saga.

Value: 3/5

Rating: 15+

Genre. Action/adventure

STORY.

Amon is a young warrior who is on a quest to avenge the death of his mother. To get close to her killer, emperor Valhiss, he must first join his army. After surviving the initiation he meets princess Lichia who is hold captive by Valhiss. She is captured to get a map that is in the posession of her father. This map shows the way to a great treasure. Amon finds himself drawn to Lichia and disides to rescue her but he hasn't forgotten the man responsible for his mothers death.

CHRACTERS.

Amon. A young man who lost everything at a early age. He was taken in by a master swordsman who trained him to be a excellent warrior. Now his training complete he sets out to fing the man who is responsible for his mothers death.

Valhiss. He is the leader of the country that bears his name. This country is very special however as it is lokated on the back of a giant turtle. He is very powerfull and ruthless who only lets the most powerfull fighters join his army.

Lichia. She is the daughter of king Sem Darai who has in his posession a map showing the way to a great treasure.

ART & MUSIC.

Both the art (4/5) and music (4/5) are excellent.

VOICE ACTING

The Japanese acting is great as usual (5/5). I didn't watch the English dub so i don't know how good or bad it was.

Personal note. The setting for this anime is a fantasy world were almost anything is possible. Such as giant turtles and ships that sail across a sea of grass. The technology is barbarian and so is the culture. As expected their quite a bit of blood and violence so this is not for the very young. The story is OK but nothing you haven't seen before.

Review of the anime Alita
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Alita

Value: 1/5

Genre. Action

Rating. 13 years and older.

STORY.

In a postapocalyptic world there are two cities. One is Tiphares, who floats in mid air suspended by cables, the other is called the Scrap yard and in below Tiphares. Basically the Scrap yard is the carbage dump of Tiphares. Ido is a cybernetics specialist from Tiphares who now lives in the Scrap yard trying to help people. One day he finds a android girl who is still alive. He rescues her, repairs her body and as she has lost her memories decides to call her Gally. After following Ido one night she learns that he has a second job as a bounty hunter. She also discovers that she has a gift for fighting and soon joins the ranks of bounty hunters. Her very first job immediatly puts her against a very powerful opponent but she defeats him easely. She also falls in love with young boy who has a dream of going to Tiphares. In order to raise money he has to break the law and when Gally finds out she has to make a choice. Take his bounty or follow him to Tiphares.

CHRACTERS.

Ido. A former inhabitant of Tiphares. He decided to leave and live in the Scrap yard so that he could help the people living there.

Gally. A cyborg that Ido found in Tipharess' carbage. She has no memories but somehow retained the knowledge to fight. She falls hard for Yugo.

Yugo. A young hardworking boy whos dream is to go to Tiphares.

Guryushika. A very powerful cyborg who is a endorphin junky. He is completely insane and is the first true opponent of Gally.

Shiren. Like Ido she is from Tiphares but unlike him she is deeply unhappy and would like nothing better than to return.

ART & MUSIC.

Both the art (5/5) and music (5/5) are excellent.

VOICE ACTING

English only and although not very good i've heard worse (3/5)

Personal note. I must say that this was one of the first anime's that i saw and i liked it very much then. So how come the 1 star? Well severall things have changed. First i'm older and have seen more and better anime's but most importand i have the manga. The manga is so much better that i'm not even going to try to describe it. It would be like compairing a pile of crap to the elysian fields. Also this anime is English only and i know that some things are hard to translate but.....Gally!? Was Alita to difficult? Her name is Alita A.L.I.T.A! Maybe Gally is a name that is used more in English or better pronounceble than Alita. Now to be fair she is called Gally in the manga. It was one chapter during her fight with Desty Nova but that was in one of the later volumes and not in the first two that were used to make this anime. Sorry folks but if you have this toss it away and buy the manga. If you don't have it don't get but buy the manga.

Review of the anime Alien Nine

STORY.

Every year a alien party is selected to protect the school from aliens. This year three girls have been elected one of them is Yuri. Each girl gets a alien symbiont assigned to them which will help them to capture the aliens. Unfortunately Yuri is terrified of aliens and the thought of hunting them repulses her and fills her with dread. But she has to overcome her dislike of them and work with her symbiont as more and more aliens land near school. Not only that but they are also getting more and more dangerous.

CHARACTERS.

Yuri. A young girl who is elected, against her wishes, by her class-mates to protect the school from aliens.

Miyu. She is in Yuri's class and her best friend. Yuri often confides in her.

Kasumi. She is also a member of the alien party. She has no fear of aliens what so ever and is often the first to go after the aliens.

Kumi. She is the third member of the alien party. She is the most responsible of the three hunters and she tries to take charge and work as a team.

Megumi. She is the teacher in charge of the alien party.

Borgs. These are symbiotic aliens used by the alien party. They are worn on the head as a helmet and can communicate with their hosts. They also protect their hosts from attacks.

ART & MUSIC.

Both the art (5/5) and music (5/5) are excellent.

VOICE ACTING

The Japanese acting was great as usual (5/5). I didn't see the English dub so i have no idea how good or bad it was.

Personal note. Once again a anime with a lot of potential that they managed to screw up. Not only did they leave the story unfinished the lead character truly annoying. There is no end to her constand whining and crying. I truly hope that the manga is better according to the commercial on the DVD it continous after the point where the anime stopt.

Review of the anime Akira
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Akira.

Genre. Action

STORY.

It is 2019 and 30 years after World War III. In the war Tokyo was destroyed by something immensly powerfull force. This power was unleashed by the power of the human mind. Now thirty years later scientists are once again trying to control this power. Tetsuo is a member of a biker gang who gets picked up by the army and is subjected to the tests to awaken his powers. His friends however are trying to get him back and they get help from a resistence group who try to stop the disaster from 30 years ago from happening again. But soon their fears come true as Tetsuo's power goes out of control and now they must struggle to keep him from destroying the city.

CHRACTERS.

Tetsuo. A member of a biker gang. After running into a former experiment he is taken in by the military for experimantation. He soon finds himself great powers but lacks the power to control it.

Kaneda. The leader of Tetsuo's gang and his friend. He is very fierce and protective of his gang and teritory.

Kei. She is a member of the group that oppose the experiments and try to put a stop to it. She offers Kaneda her help in saving Tetsuo and further her own goals at the same time.

Akira. One of the first experiments by the scientists. He was the reason the city was destroyed 30 years ago.

ART & MUSIC.

Both the art (5/5) and music (5/5) are excellent.

VOICE ACTING

The Japanese acting is great as usual (5/5) but the English isn't that bad either (4/5)

Personal note. This is it. Ground zero! This is the first true anime i ever watched and where my love for anime started. I must also confess that the first time i watched it i was rather disappointed by the end. But i have watched it a few times sinds and those earlier misgivings have disappeared. What is left is a truly amazing anime especially considering the age of almost 20 years. It is however very violent and bloody so definitly not for children. It is however a classic that every anime lover must have seen at least once.

Review of the anime Aika
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Aika.

Genre. Action/comedy

STORY.

Once again the world has sufferd a huge catastrophy and the sea level has risen hundreds of feet. Aika and her partner Rion are salvagers and recover things from the submerged cities of the world. One day they are hired to find a sample of a meterial called Rag. But before they even get started they run into a another organisation who is also looking for this material. This organisation consists of beautifull young girls and are led by Hagen and his sister who has his own plans for this material. But Aika has a few secrets from her past that may come in handy and she may not be as harmless as she looks.

CHRACTERS.

Aika. She is very skilled at her job and also a skilled fighter. She has a secret past that she keeps hidden. It left her with a special outfit that makes her very powerfull.

Rion. Aika's partner and daughter of the owner of the company. She likes Aika a lot and has a lot of respect for her.

Hagen. A scientist who is after the meterial Rag for his own purposes. He and sister run a organisation consisting of young scantely clad girls.

ART & MUSIC.

Both the art (4/5) and music (4/5) are excellent.

VOICE ACTING

The Japanese acting is excellent as usual (5/5). I didn't watch the English dub so i don't know how good or bad it was.

Personal note: It is a pretty good anime. It is not great but it is not bad either. The story is not ment as a comedy but the way they made it is kind of funny. I'm referring to the many many many pantyshots in the series. It is not a hentai and there is no or very little sex but it gives the impression that the disaster wiped out most males leaving the world populated by young beautiful women who wear very very very short skirts and very tight outfits. If this annoys you should forget about this anime and move on to something else.

Review of the anime Oh! My Goddess OVA
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Oh My Goddess OVA.

Value: 4/5

Rating: 13+

Genre. comedy/romance.

STORY.

Keiichi is a student at the university. One day he tries while trying to order some food he accidentily calls the goddess hotline and the goddess Belldandy appears and grants him one wish. Keiichi thinks that it is a loke and tells her that his wish is for her to be his girlfriend forever. Great is his surprise when he discovers that she is not only a real goddess but she will grant his wish too. So now he finds himself living with a beautiful goddess who is his girlfriend but has no clue what to do next. Luckaly her older sister Urd dissides to help closely followed by her younger sister Skuld who wants Belldandy back. Caught between these three goddesses does Keiichi even stand a chance?

CHRACTERS.

Belldandy. A goddess who travels to earth to grant Keiichi's wish. She is a very kind and gentle person who really cares deeply for Keiichi. She desperatly wants to grant him his wish but a secret from her past may ruin everything.

Keiichi. A young student and member of the motor club. Thinking it is a joke he wishes for Belldandy to be his girlfriend. He now finds himself living with not one but three goddesses as Belldandy's sisters also join his household.

Urd. Belldandy's older sister. She is a lot more wise to the workings of men and because Keiichi is not moving fast enough to suit her she dissides to help. The only problem is that all her helpfull plans seem to backfire on Keiichi.

Skuld. Younger sister of Belldady. She misses her sister badly and dissides to go to earth with the plan to break up her relationship with Keiichi. But she must be carefull as anone who interferes with a wish must face devine punishment.

ART & MUSIC.

Both the art (4/5) and music are excellent (4/5).

VOICE ACTING

The Japanese acting is as usual excellent (5/5). I didn't watch the English dub so i don't know how good or bad it was.

Personal note. I like this anime. The mix of romance, comedy and drama is very good. The characters are well worked out. Belldady may be sickingly sweet at times but then again she is a goddess. And being stuck between three goddesses i sometimes feel bad for Keiichi.

Review of the anime Ah! My Goddess the movie
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Ah My Goddess the movie.

Genre. comedy/romance.

STORY.

It has been some time sinds Belldandy became Keiichi's girlfriend. She lives together with him and her two sisters Urd and Skuld. Then one day a prisoner is released from the lunar prison. This person is Celestin a old friend and mentor of Belldandy. When she encounters him though he removes all her memories of Keiichi. Now Keiichi, Urd and Skuld must find out what he did to Belldandy. Can they recover Belldandy's memories and stop Celestin's plan before it is to late?

CHRACTERS.

Belldandy. A goddess who became Keiichi's girlfriend when granting his wish.. She is a very kind and gentle person who really cares deeply for Keiichi. She and her three sisters live in a old temple with Keiichi.

Keiichi. A young student and member of the motor club. Thinking it is a joke he wished for Belldandy to be his girlfriend. He now finds himself living with not one but three goddesses as Belldandy's two sisters live with them.

Urd. Belldandy's older sister. She is stuck on eath for trying to meddle in Keiichi and Belldandy's relationship and normally just hanges around. She seems to know a lot more about Celestin and why he was imprisond than she lets on.

Skuld. Younger sister of Belldady. She really misses Belldandy and dissided to move to earth to be with her. She still hasn't forgiven Keiichi for stealing her sister but she tolerates him.

Celestin. A god who was imprisond for all eternity in the lunar prison. He was Belldandy's friend and mentor. In order to reach his goals he removes her memories of Keiichi and infects her with a virus that infects the gods systems.

ART & MUSIC.

Both the art (5/5) and music are excellent (5/5). The art is even better that the series but that is to be expected for a movie as the budget is so much bigger for them compared to the series. The music is excellent and i don't know many anime's that have a better soundtrack than this.

VOICE ACTING

The Japanese acting is as usual excellent.

Personal note. This a very good anime. As usual the buget for the movie was bigger than for the OVA and it shows. The graphics are stunning and the music is excellent. The humor was a bit less abundent in this movie compared to the OVA and there is a lot more action. Especially the part were Urd confronts Celestin was breathtaking. The movie stands excellent on his own and the story is such that it is not nessessary to watch the OVA or series first. I can truly recommend you watch this movie if you ever get the chance.
