I am the walrus.
My friend's awesome poem:
Revenge of the Llama
Someday said the llama,
vengence shall be mine,
and so begins our little drama,
of a llama who crossed the line.
o a cruel and heartless man belonged,
said llama known as Vosper,
even though his sufferings were prolonged,
he was never allowed to prosper.
Vosper, energy spent in toil, dreamed up a devious design,
the cruel man in oil did he boil,
well that didn't that feel divine?
Vosper the newly freed beast,
was an animal hero in the very least.
The Ballad of Reading Gaol
(well excerpt)
by
Oscar Wilde
"Yet each man kills the thing he loves,
By each let this be heard,
Some do it with a bitter look,
Some with a flattering word,
The koward does it with a kiss,
The brave man with a sword!"

kings of convenience
I haven't been to a concert in so long; grade 12 is killer. But the other day I decided I had better visit McGill before attending, so I was in Montréal and what great luck, my third favourite band the Kings of Convenience were in town. Actually, I'm lying; I specifically scheduled my trip to coincide with their concert. But none the less, it was really, really good. They're capable of reaching the legendary third harmonic overtone; granted, I don't know what that means but it sounds quite impressive. Does it not? Honestly, you should all go out and buy their CDs right now. But, on a darker note, if you do go and see a band that’s capable of reaching the legendary third harmonic, please, please, please, don't sing along. I know, it's hard but the rest of us want to hear that third harmonic.
Except, now I’m in love with the song parr-à-pluie; so haunting and misspelled but beautiful.

Kaori Yuki
I've been getting very into scanlations and manga recently. And there's a certain artist in particular who continues to stand out in my mind, you may have guess it; as it's the name of the topic, Kaori Yuki is just fabulous. Absolutely the best artist I have yet to come across, my all-time favourite. FYI her works include Count Cain, Angel Sanctuary, Boys Next Door ect. Her work is just so beautiful and deep and I can't even describe it. And her storylines though at times twisted they're incredibly moving and at times even bring me near tears. I just finished the 3rd chapter of Ludwig Kakumei and I am so inspired. Amazing, absolutely amazing, you can read it here: http://www.sakura-crisis.net/translations/ludwig/ by the way. Word to the wise, the sleeping beauty character is artistry incarnate; I've fallen in love. Now I can want to cast off my plans of going to McGill becoming a lawyer and eventually PM and go into comic book writing. But alas, my skills and technique and mind don't even come close to thoes of Kaori Yuki. From now on, I won't rest till I approach her skill level! Oh sweet inspiration, never leave me.

Hawksley Workman
Well, my friend Sebastian called me up the other day it seemed after minutes from returning from the oriental mall where I had impulsively spent the last 20$ I had on some excellent anime: the Kare Kano series. What luck it was that he invited me to a free concert! Hawksley Workman by the way, I can’t say I’d heard much of his stuff before hand. Actually, I can really only say I listen to one of his songs regularly, that song being “striptease”, haha. But then about two minutes later, my friend Kyle called inviting me to the very same concert. I felt very loved, in a friendly way of course as Sebastian and Kyle are my bandmates. I guess Kyle is an alright friend. He made pizza before we went as he just got off from work, that being a pizza place, and he made a vegan pizza -and- he remembered what I like on my pizza. I’m a vegan by the way. Funny how boys always remember when it’s convenient. To thank him, I tried to silently offer him the front seat on the way home but he made such a big deal about it that I got embarrassed and claimed it anyway. But the concert, it was pretty good, considering it was free and everything. But I must say “striptease” was a little bland it lacked that “oomph” kind of, perhaps it was just because I could see him and he wasn’t particularly attractive and when I listen to it on CD, I can imagine he looks like what ever I please. And he was wearing a muscle top and I’m sorry but muscle tops? Shudder, I don’t know why but I just don’t like muscle tops and that kind of turned me off of everything. He was a very capable vocalist though, though he did tend to get a little caught up in his own voice at times. I hope I’m not shallow, now that I think of it; almost all the male musicians I like are attractive. I always used to think it was their musicalness that made them attractive but Hawksley Workman’s music isn’t too bad. Oh no, wait, I forgot; Elliott Smith isn’t very physically attractive and yet he’s one’s of my favourite musicians ever. So nevermind, I think I’m okay. I guess Hawksley just wasn’t that good.

Sunfest
I recently attended the first day of London Ontario’s local Sunfest and must say, it was surprisingly quite good. I mean not that I was expecting it to be bad, it just the genre played just usually isn’t my cup of tea and I liked the bands quite a bit. There was this one Arabic band that was really good, made you feel like you were in the middle-east if you got really lost in it. They had a sitar too like George Harrison. There was also an electric double bass which I thought interesting enough to warrant mentioning, but in a different less remarkable band. But then Leigh had to go home as she’s fast tracking in summer school and had to study. So it was a little miserable after that. It started raining so I felt very cold and alone. But the next band was quite good. It was some sort of “fusion” as my aunt called it so it had all sorts of influences. There was a bag pipe and an accordion and one of those turn-tables as I believe they’re called. It was sort of like what Bjork would sound like if she did electronica and incorporated bag pipes and the harmonica. The main singer danced sort of like me, so to say, not very well. But there were lots of people dancing in the crowd which was quite amusing, Even more so, watching their dates slowly inch away form them. There were lots of lovers about most of which looked awkward and somewhat gaping or perhaps that’s just how I perceived them. I’m warning you boys and girls, boys are all the same; don’t fall for their dirty tricks.

Sondre Lerche
Turns out I went to see Sondre Lerche and I took my friend Jenni. We had to go buy fake IDs and everything because after I bought the tickets, I realized that they said 19+ and it didn't say that anywhere else so I was quite peeved. But in the end it was quite worth it. Sondre is so amazing live he sounds just as good as he does recorded. His voice is effortless. The opening acts were pretty good too. Charlotte Martin had this one really good song about stalking and I've always wanted to be in love enough with someone to stalk them but not really because I think that that would be really, really painful. But I did meet a really nice boy and at first I was acting all aloof and stuff because I'm quite weary of boys; they can be so cruel. But then it was quite persistent so I had to give in and he turned out to be quite nice indeed, to say the least. I don't know who was better Sondre or BRMC. It's a tough call, better bass in BRMC but then no nice guy. Ah, I can't decide. I'll have to go to lollapalooza and see BRMC again.
