Odd Dreams Monday

Back
Sunday, 4.29 PM

HELL YES! I'M BACK!

So uh, I just got back about one hour ago. Tired as a dog....

Well, the Family Reunion wasn't all that bad. It had it's ups and down, but I had a good time in the end. At least I didn't have to hang around all day Saturday. Me and my cousin drove up to my Grandpa's house and worked with him. We worked all day on rebuilding an old BBQ cooker. RAWR! I got to play with torches and what not. Other than that it was pretty boring, you know, hugging old people who come up to you and go "do you remember me Josh?" "give me a hug!" "my you've gotten big!"

Saturday night me and my Grandpa got to talking about music and guitars (I had no clue he played guitar). And this morning he came down do breakfast and told me he had something in his truck. Suprise Suprise! It was a guitar. He gave me an old right-handed acoustic guitar (he's left-handed, didn't know that either). That was very cool of him, the guitar isn't much, but it made me happy.

Bluh, I start work tomorrow morning at 7:30 am...... great timing.

Later,

--Josh--

{Musician of the Day}

-Warren Haynes-

(Guitar player for The Allman Brothers Band and Gov't Mule. I met this awesome guy backstage at a Allman Brothers concert, very cool. And yes, I never changed Santana's name last time I posted)

{What I'm listening to}
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)

{Daily Family Guy Quote}
Peter (after Lois tells him he's childish): "If I'm a child that means you're a pedophile, and I'll be damned if I'm going stand here and take this from a pervert."

Odd Dreams Monday

Buh-Bye
Thursday, 10.52 AM

Well, I've been packing all morning and it's about time for me to leave. So now I bid farewell to anyone who cares. I shall return Sunday night.

Later,

--Josh--

{Musician of the Day}

Paul McCartney

-Carlos Santana-

(What an amazing musician this guy is! He is most famous for his Bass and Vocal work for the Beatles. What instrument does this guy not play? He is truly amazing!)

{What I'm listening to}
The Beatles - Good Day Sunshine

{Daily Family Guy Quote}
Stewie: Another baby? But, but I'm the baby. Why the deuce would they want to replace me? My, my cheeks are pinchable, my bottom is smooth, my laugh is heartwarming. Aha ha ha ha ho ho ho! What's that? I certainly am not overreacting! What the devil do you think happened to Bobby when they added cousin Oliver to the Brady bunch?
(Cut to the Brady family sitting around the table)
Mom: Oliver, did you break this vase?
Oliver: No the floor did (the family all laughs)
Boy: He's so cute.
(Bobby emerges from a door)
Bobby: Hey everybody I...
Dad: Bobby, you get back in the garage! (Thrusts end of broom into Bobby.)
Bobby: Ow, ow!

Odd Dreams Monday

Last Day of Bum-hood
Wednesday, 10.52 AM

Good morning folks. It's a beautiful day outside, at least it looks that way from inside, it's probably hot and sticky outside. And I have to cut the grass today. Ok, I just checked and it's only about 75 degrees and the humidity isn't enough to kill me, that's cool. So it is indeed a nice day outside.

I never did get around to watching "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" last night. I called a friend and we went and hung out at her house and watched the first half of "The Exorcist." Then some more people came over to her house who were pretty stoned. I don't get into that kind of stuff, but damn is it funny to watch! I got home right before 11 and watched some Futurama and Family Guy, can't sleep without it.

Meh, I leave tomorrow for my family reunion and I get back late Sunday. And then Monday I start work, 7am - 5pm, at least it's good money. And then my best friend moves next Saturday. Today is my last day to be a complete bum, I shall be bum-riffic today!

Santana is jamming pretty hard down there! Heh, and the quote is one of my favorites.

Later,

--Josh--

Edit: I changed the music on here to The Beatles :)

{Musician of the Day}

-Carlos Santana-

(Mexican-born American guitarist Carlos Santana is best known as the leader of the band that bears his last name, which has toured and recorded successfully since the late '60s. He has also recorded a series of exploratory solo albums and collaborations with other musicians that expand upon his basic musical style.)

{What I'm listening to}
The Beatles - Maxwell's Silver Hammer

{Daily Family Guy Quote}
Peter: You gotta help me Brian. Teach me how to be a gentleman.
Brian: Well, Peter, it's not really that hard. Let's start with polite conversation. For example, 'it's a pleasure to see you again. Lovely weather we're having.' Now you try.
Peter: 'It's a pleasure to see you again. After Hogan's Heroes, Bob Crane got his skull crushed in by a friend who videotaped him having rough sex.' How's that?
Brian: Wow. Perfect. My work is done. But just for the heck of it, let's try it again.

Odd Dreams Monday

Hangin' Out
Tuesday, 4.51 PM

Hey guys, sorry I didn't post yesterday. I was just too lazy to do much of anything. I didn't do much of anything Sunday and Monday. Me and my friend went to the mall and to Wal-Mart and bought a bunch of DVDs to watch. He had a gift card to Wal-Mart and a bunch of b-day money so he bought them all. I watched Goodfellas (a very good movie) and Kill Bill Vol. 2, and a Los Lonely Boys Concert DVD. It was all cool. That was my first time seeing Goodfellas, and it is one hell of a movie. I think I'm going to watch it again very soon. Well I'm gonna keep this short, so I'm gonna go watch One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest in a bit. I'll comment later.

Later,

--Josh--

{Musician of the Day}

-Eric Clapton-

(For as long as rock has been synonymous with roll, Eric Clapton has been considered one of the world's best guitarists, if not the best. Eric Clapton is without a question, the world's most famous guitarist. )

{What I'm listening to}
The Beatles - Rocky Raccoon

{Daily Family Guy Quote}
Stewie: Damn, must have pulled something playing hoops last week. (Goes to flashback of Stewie playing basketball.)
Stewie: I know you ain't puttin that rock up from here, cause you ain't got no J! (Stewie trips basketball player)
Baskeball player: Yo man, that's trippin!
Stewie: Brotha please, you're the one who's trippin'! Now go on! Cry home to your momma! She waitin' for ya!
Basketball player: Now don't make me stick my size thirteens up yo narrow ass!
Stewie: Oh, sweet! Bring it on bitch! Now how you gonna act?! (Basketball player walks away.) Jeeze! Bringin that trash in here. Dis is my house!!!

Odd Dreams Monday

Got the rained on my concert blues
Sunday, 11.03 AM

Well the concert wasn't too great. Mostly because of the rain. Me and my dad were soaking wet the entire time, and then it got dark out and the wind began to blow, making us icicles. I can tough that out just fine, but my dad..... if you knew him you would know what I'm talking about. I would have enjoyed myself a lot more if I could have gotten closer to the stage, from where I was I couldn't make out who was who. (The concert was held a minor league stadium, what a brilliant idea that was, with the stage all the way in the outfield, 300 or so yards from home plate and the bleachers. I wanted to go hang out in the outfield and watch the show, but my dad... bleachers it was.) The only highlight of the show was when Willie's son came out and played Texas Flood on an electric guitar. The rest of the show sucked. After Willie played for about 80 minutes, Dylan came on and played his part. We left after about 3 Dylan songs, I really wish I could have stayed to see Dylan play, but we were miserable. Like I said, it would've been much better if I could see what was happening.

Later,

--Josh--

{Musician of the Day}

-Stevie Ray Vaughan-

(an American blues guitar legend, known as one of the most influential electric blues musicians in history)

{What I'm listening to}
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Flood

Peter (to New Yorker): Excuse me sir, I believe you're in my seat and I had sex with your mother.
Man: What'd you say?

Odd Dreams Monday

Bluh
Saturday, 10.58 AM

I don't have much to talk about, so today's post is pretty short. Just about everyone I called wasn't home, so yesterday was my third day trapped in the house. I'm starting to go crazy, if I don't see a peer today I might kill myself, I need school back so badly. But I am going to a concert later today: Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson. I just hope that they're not too old to jam, and I hope they play a lot of blues and do some improvisation. Well, I'll comment some time later today. Bye,

--Josh--

{Musician of the Day}

-Jimmy Page-

(Only the coolest guitar player ever. Yes, he is using a violin bow on the guitar.)

{What I'm listening to}
Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child

{Daily Family Guy Quote}
Guy on Airplane: "Oh great, I always end up sitting next to a damn baby."
Stewie: "What did you just say?"
Lois: "Stewie, stop fussing."
Stewie: "Pipe down Lois." (Slaps guy on head) "Hey big man, turn around. Oh you can't hear me now. I was going to watch the movie, but forget it. For the next 5 hours, your my bitch."

Odd Dreams Monday

Stairway to Heaven
Friday, 11.03 AM

Holy crap it's Friday! Not that it means anything now, since school is out, got worked up over nothing....

Well I just got back from my job interview, it was rather short, but all my questions were answered. I start when I get back from my Family Reunion next week and I work until school gets back in. I will we helping out the Data Com guys, who work with the low voltage stuff. And the pay will be pretty good, somewhere around $8/h or higher. I'm sure it won't be all that bad.

When I went to get into my car today, there was this overwhelming musky smell coming from the inside of my car. A few days ago my friend accidentally left my back door open when it was raining. So the back of my car got soaking wet. I forgot to let my car air out, so now it's on the verge of molding. I used a whole bottle of Fabreeze on it and it still stinks like hell. Hopefully it will be better very soon because I have to get out of this house, wish me luck.

--Josh--

{Musician of the Day}

-Robert Cray-

(I saw this guy on the Eric Clapton: Crossroads DVD, he is a legendary guitar player. He played an awesome song called Time Makes Two, go get that song right now! It was so beautiful I almost cried)

{What I'm listening to}
Jeff Beck - Goodbye Porkpie Hat

{Daily Family Guy Quote}
Peter: Hey Lois, give Chris a break. I mean, no TV? So he failed a class, it's not like he felt up his cousin in the garage that one time when I was 19.

Odd Dreams Monday

Stairway to Heaven
Thursday, 2:47 PM

Yesterday wasn't very exciting. I stayed home to watch my little sister while my dad went to a doctors appointment. Then around 4:30 I left and went to my school for Senior Portraits. That was the first time I ever wore a tuxedo. Other than that, I didn't do much of anything.

Earlier today I learned the first half of Stairway to Heaven and a bit of Since I Been Lovin You by Led Zeppelin. I can't wait until I learn the solo, matter of fact I think I'll try that out as soon as I get through with this :) I've learned the minor and pentatonic scales so it should be a piece of cake....... or pie......... mmm, pie.

Anyways, I planned to go hang out today, but nobody is home... so I guess I'll just play guitar and watch some Star Wars. Tomorrow I have to get up and go to a job interview at Pace Electric. Eww, a job, but the good thing is I don't have to start until I get back from my Family Reunion on the 13th. I hate working, I'm a procrastinating bum, but I have to pay off my Car bills somehow.

I'm starting a new daily thing, like the Family Guy quotes and my daily song. It's the "Musician of the Day," so I can showoff all of my favorite musicians. Oh and I changed my layout, since Hendrix was scaring off everyone :P I hope you like the new layout, I do. Have a nice day,

--Josh--

{Musician of the Day}

-Buddy Guy-

{What I'm listening to}
Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven

{Daily Family Guy Quote}
God: Here, let me light that for you, babe.
(Zap with Thunderbolt to the cigarette)
Girl: Hey, thanks!
God: Yep, magic fingers (chuckles).
(Zap with Thunderbolt to the girl incinerating her.)
God: Jesus Christ!
Jesus: What?
God: Get the Escalade! We're outta here!

Odd Dreams Monday

Last Day of School
Wednesday, 11.14 AM

Well yesterday sucked.....

Yesterday was my last day of school. First of all, only half of the students even came, and second, just about everyone left around lunch. I decided to stay to say goodbye to everyone, but "everyone" had pretty much left. Also, no senior prank, wtf?

I skipped all my lame classes and hung out in the technology room with a few friends and watched Kill Bill vol. 1. That was pretty fun, I love me some Kill Bill. I didn't see too many of my friends, and didn't see any of my senior friends (whom were at graduation practice, and I will probably never see again).

I decided to go to my last class to see if anyone was there, but come to find out, my teacher was writing passes for people to go home. I found that very odd because he is extremely strict. So I roamed around school looking for anyone I knew, said goodbye to all the cool teachers, and left.

After school I hung out with my friend Robby, who is moving soon (he doesn't leave on the same day as my family reunion, he got his dates mixed up, so that's cool). We chilled for about an hour then we went to Katie's house. We watched Zeppelin's "The Song Remains the Same," and chilled till about 9.

Not a very exciting day, just a start to a depressing summer, at least I've got myO. I've got about a week of freedom until I start working, hoorah.

(Yes, that IS a violin bow Jimmy Page is using on his guitar, nothing beats a live "Dazed and Confused")

{What I'm listening to}
Led Zeppelin - The Rain Song

{Daily Family Guy Quote}
Lois: Peter, why are we stopped?
Peter: Yeah, I'll have three cheeseburgers...
Lois: Peter for God's sakes she's havin' a baby!
Peter: Oh that's right...and a kid's meal... and uh, I, I guess I'll have fries...if I have fries is anyone else gonna have any? Cuz ,uh I don't wanna be the only one eatin' them... I'll feel like a fatty.

Odd Dreams Monday

Attention All!
Sunday, 5.25 PM

Wassup people? Not much going on here, except the fact that only 2 days of school remain! No school, but a summer job awaits, and to a bum like me, it sucks beyond comprehension. Meh, and my best friend moves away in two weeks. So I'm no looking forward to summer too much this year. Oh, and don't let me forget to mention my Family Reunion, which I have to leave for 2 days before my friend moves away. I planned to drive with him up to his new place in South Carolina and hang out with him for a day or two and go to one of his dad's gigs, but that's all ruined.

On a brighter note, with 2 days of school left, I somehow kept my A average. And not but a week or so ago, I got my Graduation Test Scores back (you might remember earlier posts when I mentioned how easy they were), and I scored pretty high. I passed with distinction in all subjects except for science, and I scored 99% percent higher than all others who took the test. Guess that makes me the top 1% :). It made all my teachers proud, and now I guess I have to get off my academic "ass" and start doing more challenging work. Heh, academic "ass."

Anyways sorry for not posting too often. To be brutally honest, I'm not busy, just incredibly lazy (and enjoying my last moments with my best friend). Lately I've actually picked up the guitar. Before I just learned a few songs and put it down, but lately I've actually started putting some heart & soul into it. Now I love it more than anything. And I've become even deeper in love with music. I am now in love with the blues and all things Fender and Hendrix.

Oh, and, if you haven't noticed there's a new theme.

(Currently my favorite album, Revolver, by the Beatles)

{What I'm listening to}
The Beatles - For No One

{Daily Family Guy Quote}
Peter (narrating his life): "I walked into the kitchen and sat down at the table. I looked with a grimace at the questionable meal Lois had placed in front of me. Of course I'd never tell her how disgusted I was with her cooking, but somehow I think she knew. Lois had always been full of energy and life, but lately I had begun to grow more aware of her aging. The bright, exuberant eyes that I had fallen in love with were now beginning to grow dull and listless with the long fatigue of a weary life. (Lois knocks Peter out.)
I woke several hours later in a daze."
