I've got the no car blues *blues guitar riff here*
January 25, 2006; 12.24AM
Hey guys. Sorry for not being around so much lately. Life's been going pretty crappy lately.
Sunday night around 7PM, as I was coming home from a friend's house, I totaled my car. I wasn't at fault, but it still sucks a lot. I'll give you a brief description: a jackass didn't yield to oncoming traffic and pulled out in front of me. I hit him going 55 on his back-passenger side, and he hit the car paralell to me on my right, sending him flying into a ditch.
All three cars were toast. With lots of butter, lots (I'm so lame, I know). I came out fine, although I got a nasty rash on my arm from the airbig, no biggie (they smell like shit). The jackass (as I call him) suffered no injuries, and the third party was all fine, but they all left in an ambulance for some reason (I'm guessing because they're cheapskates and they want some extra money out of this).
Bottom line. I have no car. The car I had wasn't worth too much, but it was a great car and had very low mileage. I'm expecting to get a check for around $4K from the jackass's insurance company for a new car. Wish me luck finding a (good) new car. I'll need it.
In other news: my mother is going to the hospital tomorrow for hernia surgery. That means she'll be in bed for about two weeks, so I'll have some temporary wheels. This is good and bad news. It's good that she's finally getting this procedure done, and it's bad because my mommy's going under the knife :(.
On a lighter note, school's going wonderful (I think.) I've got some pretty fun and easy classes. Oh, and I also have early work release, so I get out every day at 12:25PM for work.
I also have two (TWO!) jobs. Both are pretty cool. I work as a Administrative Assistant at a local electrical company (my uncle owns it, so I got this position easily). I have a pretty easy work schedule, and everyone there is pretty much family to me. So it's all good.
I'm also doing a little tutoring on the side. I'm tutoring this chic from a local private high school in Geometry two days a week. I get $25/h for that (pretty sweet, huh?). I'm thinking of putting an ad in the paper or something for tutoring, I could make some awesome money on the side.
In other good news, February 24-26 I'm going to Atlanta for the State-level Academic Decathalon. I won about three medals (Math-G, Art-B, and Renaissance History-B) at the city level; not too good, not too bad. I have to find some free time to study my ass off before we leave for state. Our coach said that the music teacher was going to teach us theory, so I'm psyched. Oh, and some other teachers are teaching us some other crap, whatever.
Also, Right now I have up an mp3 of the second half of Abbey Road. I know none of y'all like The Beatles, and I'm sure hardly anyone will visit (Much love to everyone who does, this applies to both). So screw all you other bastards and suck it up.
Have a good day everyone.
Mucho Love-o,
Josh
