Where I’m From
By Jesse
I am from Jersey by York,
the end of the line,
now one of two.

I am from dad leaving,
but not before eating the porcupine,
separation,
miss them, the tree, not him,
now reuniting.

I am from the car that wasn’t,
just a hunk of metal ready to disintegrate,
hoping we would make it.

I am from one or the other
North or South,
supermutt, then get hit by a car.

I am from “Bye, Bye Birdie”,
“oh yeah we got you a dog”,
Avery and the eagle feather,
Bruer lectures and body bags,
watch the flying desk!!
