Cherry blossom festival
By any random chance, did anyone out there on theotaku go to the Brooklyn cherry blossom festival at the bontanical gardens? If not, and if you're in the area, I really suggest going next year. It was awesome! A little crowded, but if you get there early, you'll have time to actually walk into shops and poke around like a tourist...which is exactly what I did.
I went with my school's Japanese club, so we didn't stay for the entire festival. (Which, sadly, we missed the sword demonstration and the fashion show...which were the two things I was looking forward to most.) However, we did see the Taiko drumming, the flower hat dance, some cosplay sponsored by AnimeExpo and the Butoh dancing. All in all, a really fun trip...especially with a bunch of loving friends. =D
So yes, check it out!
Brooklyn Botanic Gardens.
It's free. So you really can't go wrong. And, if you do go next year, don't be afraid to dress up! So many people were in kimonos, or were cosplaying, dressed in gothic lolita outfits...everything. =D
I have pictures, so if anyone wants them, I'll send you the photobucket link.
