Kaguya Kirei stood on the roof of Kikyo Castle, deep in thought. Her dark eyes were stormy. Anyone who saw her would have one thought.
'That is one PO'd Beeyotch...'
"KIREI-KUUUUUUN!" a loud voice said. "KAGUYA-HIME!" a boy's voice followed. Kirei paid no mind. A girl who looked like a cat and a boy with a shiny black braid and blue suit appeared in front of her. "Kirei! Whatcha doin' here?" the cat-girl asked. "..." "Kaguya-sama?" the boy said. "Ever wonder if sensei is watching us? If he's... proud?" Kirie asked in a sexy, breathy voice. The boy gulped "Holy Hell..." he muttered.
~When'd she get that voice?!~
Kirei looked down, running her fingers through her pale white hair.
"Ever wonder if someone's always watching you?" she asked. The boy looked at her. "Y'mean... Your Brother... Kimidaro?" "Kimimaro, idiot." "That is my name!" the boy said with a smile. "Baka-kun..." Kirei said, shaking her head. "My brother, Hayate-sensei, My Master... Haku-chan..." Kirei said, whispering the last name. Kirei sighed. "It's like they never left. When I go to Nami-no-Kuni, I swear, it's like Zabuza and Haku are still watching me, protecting..." Kirei stopped, her voice breaking. She sighed again, a single tear falling. "When I go home, and look at Kimi-kun's picture... I know he's there. I know."
The cat girl looked up, one of her ears twitching. "No one ever truly leaves as long as those who care for them still love them, Kirei." she said. Kirei smiled for an instant. "So, the spirit's linger as long as we love the dead? As long as Sohaku loves the father she never knew? As long as I hold onto my brother, a thing of bones and rotting flesh? As long as Shikamaru and Ino and Choji seek vengence? As long as there is turmoil, the spirit's linger, not love." Kirei said, her eyes glowing strangely. Neko and Baka shuddered.
"We were supposed to watch Sohaku today, anyway... Let's go..." Kirei said, turning and walking away. She stopped, turned around, and curtsied, as if someone was there. "Hayate-sensei." she said. Neko and Baka looked at each other. "Psy-cho." Neko mouthed. "Schizo." Baka mouthed back.
Gekko Noaki stood by the Memorial stone, the same way her half-sister did at Kikyo Castle, dwelling upon morbid thoughts. "Hayate-kun..." Noaki whispered. "Happy New Year, Angelic One." she said, opening a bottle of sake. She poured some onto the stone, her eyes laughing through tears. "I have to go, Inochi" she said.
Gekko Sohaku was running around with Maito Baka, giggling as she tried to catch him. "You're a meaner!" she squealed as her fingers brushed against his pants leg. Baka continued to run, seeming more happy than the child. "WELL NYAH-NYAH!" he said.
Kaguya Kirei and Neko walked out in traditional furisode. Kirei's was white and cream, showing off her hourglass figure and frail, undeniable beauty. Neko was in a red furisode, unhappy to be forced into such a get-up. Her tail twitched irritably. Baka stopped and stared. "Holy Hell..." he said again. Sohaku tackled him with enough force to bowl him over. Baka let out a loud "Ach", which sent all the girls into giggles.
"NOT FUNNY!" Baka screamed. The girls continued laughing. Sohaku stuck out her tounge. "Bleh!" she said. Baka reflected on how much Sohaku was like her father, how she was the embodiment of Hayate's hidden side. The side that his student's frequently saw, a simple, unbridled, take-no-shit-and-grab-life-by-its-blue-balls way of life.
Sohaku had Hayate's dark eyes. Baka smiled softly, putting a hand into Sohaku's long, dark brown hair. Sohaku cocked her head. "Baka-nii?" she said, confused. "Yes, Se... Er, Sohaku-chan?" he asked.
"You rapist!" Neko said with a giggle. Kirei gave Baka a 'Go To Hell or Get Over Here And Get Some Then You Choose What's Worse' glare. "So-chan, let's go put your furisode on." Hyuga Moriko said from the doorway. Her long brown hair was secured in a tight ponytail that fell to her knees, and her Byakugan glowed with a kind light. Her usual traditional robe was replaced with a long blue kimono with orange dragons on the chest and back. The kimono was quite open chested. That, or it was just because of Moriko's big chest being put into a place so small. Either way, heads would be turned that night, all of them looking at the Hyuga Cadet Branch leader.
~Didn't Sensei get a babe?~
Baka thought with a smirk.
"Yes, Ka-san!" Sohaku said, getting off of Baka and running to glomp her mother. Baka thought of the lyrics from song he had heard a thousand years ago. It was actually just two weeks before his Sensei's death, but it was still a long time ago.

Baka started laughing. Everyone looked at him, startled. "Baka-kun?" Moriko and Neko said in unison. Kirei raised one delicate, white eyebrow. Sohaku blinked. "God, Hayate..." Baka chuckled. Sohaku looked at Baka closely with her dark, all-seeing eyes. "Oto-sama?" she said. Moriko bit her lip. Neko winced, then looked at him. "I-di-ot." she said in a sing-song voice. Kirei gave him a soul-shaking, crap yourself glare.
~...Oh yah, I'm screwed!~
Umino Sarako stood in traditional robes next to her brother at their family shrine. She sighed, annoyed.
~After this, Iruka'll drag me to the memorial stone, then Hokage Mountain, then God knows where... and I was supposed to meet Lee-kun!~
"Ne-chan, you do realize you can leave, correct?" Iruka asked, his eyes closed. Sarako jolted up. "ARRIGATO, NII-SAN!" she said, bolting out the door. Iruka sighed.
