I'm in an LotR mood, so shaddup with your Prophecised requests...
My Dad is in the hospital, AGAIN... God, I'm pissed for no appearent reason. Oh, wait, didn't I just give you one...
The little girl walked in, silently and quickly as to avoid her mother. She snuck past the library and continued to her room. She shut the door carefully behind her and played with her doll.
She looked into the doll's sparkling blue eyes, a hue synonomous with the sky. The doll was made of porcelain and jewels, strong, although fragile looking, with long chestnut hair and large blue eyes, her red lips stuck in an angelic smile. The young Elf hugged her doll, her sole companion.
The girl wanted to be that beautiful. She wanted to look nice. Her hair was short and raven, slightly matted, and her eyes a strange shade of pink. Her mouth was too big for her small face, but not big enough to be outright ugly. She always felt odd amongst her companions, most of which where fair-haired and dark eyed, like all Elves of Lorien.
"Nimel..." the voice of the woman she tried so hard to avoid said from the doorway. Nimel shuddered, clutching her doll ever closer. "Why?" her mother said, dried tears upon her cheeks. Nimel's small body shook. "It was no one's fault, Mother." she answered. "It was yours!" the woman screamed, grabbing her daughter's arm with a claw-like hand. "You're cursed! You're an evil thing! If I had never had you, he would never had become WHAT HE IS!! HE WOULD BE WITH ME, YOU WRETCHED, FILTHY ORC CHILD!!" she screached, causing her daughter's arm to bleed with an increasing grip. "Mother!!" Nimel screamed in Elven.
The boy walked silently with his father. Silence was the only form of communication between them. He sighed irritably. His father turned, half-furious. "Hush, Elegost." he commanded.
~...Bite me~ the boy responded within his mind. Instead of saying it out loud, he nodded. He sent up a prayer he would never be as serious, as cold, as his father had become.
~I'd rather be hunting. Or practicing archery. Or swimming. Or with Hadhod. Or wrestling with brother. Or fishing. Or kissing a girl. Or~ Elegost's mind wandered, naming off hundred's of things he'd rather do than be with his father.
Being a Ranger was interesting, true. But his father made it dull. Elegost scoffed when his father opened his mouth to lecture about some plant he found on the side of the road. Eledar shot an arrow past his son's ear as punishment. "Watch it." he said. Elegost scoffed again. "I caught it, Father." he said matter-of-factly. "No, you" Eledar was cut short when he turned, his youngest son twirling Eledar's arrow between his fingers, whistling in bemusement.
"What do you see here?" Eledar questioned. Elegost shoved his hand's into his pockets. "Celandine, some sage, a misplaced rose, some athelas, MOSS, kingsfoil" "Athelas." The elder ranger corrected. Elegost sighed again. "Damn, you're whiny today." "WHAT?" "Nothing, nothing.. More ATHELAS, Allysum..." he stopped, coming to a white and red flower he knew nothing of. "Um... Hybrid?" Elegost questioned. "Nay..." Eledar responded, a pleased tone in his voice. He smiled, most unlike him.
"It is... a Losloth." he said. Elegost closed his eyes.
~I knew this day would come... He's lost his mind...~
"'Snow Flower'?" Elegost asked, opening one brown eye to eye his old father. Eledar laughed. "Aye... they only bloom every 10 years, my boy." he answered. Elegost sighed, then muttered a 'senile fart-face' comment, which got an arrow fired at him for disrespect.
"Elegost... I'm leaving you here." Eledar said, pulling his cloak up. Elegost jolted. "What?!" he screamed. A storm came suddenly around the two. Eledar smirked. "Have fun being a ranger, oh foolish child!" he cackled. Elegost lunged for his father. "STUPID STORM RANGER, YOU BLOODY"
He never finished, considering he head-butted a tree once his father left him in mid-pounce. He was out like a light for hours until he heard a young child's cry. He fingered the near unholy-sized bump on his head. "At least there's a tommorow... At least I can feel..." he muttered, moving his arms, then his legs, finally his neck, finding that the only thing broken was his pride.
"Who in the"
~A blossom.~
That is what Elegost always called his 'sister'. Such beauty, even for an elf, so unnaturally beautiful...
~Near terrifying.~
Elegost shook the thought off. If Nimel got in a mood... Gods help us all. He watched her seem to float from place to place through the forest they met nearly 31 years before. She was humming some nursery rhyme. He smiled at her.
~Waiting to bloom~
He would always see her as that. No matter what she had seen and endured, no matter of her husband and child, she was a blossom. A losloth. Rare and beautiful.
He sighed a little, fingering the gift he was given long ago. A pressed Snow Flower given by the most precious person he ever loved.
She was still there. Always.
"Every 10 years, the Losloth blooms, Nimel." he explained. the girl turned, but it wasn't his sister. "I'm Elwen, Uncle Elegost." the girl said. "...You take after your mother." he said.
"Senile Old Fart-face! Mama always called you that!" Elwen squealed. Elegost lunged for her, pinning her down and tickling her. "I'M 8! QUIT! I'm TOO OLD, UNCLE!!" she giggled.
"You really are like Nimel." he sighed later on. Elwen's black eyes, just like her father's, shone with starlight. "I know." she muttered. Elegost kissed her on the head.
~Every 10 years... A Losloth blooms. A thing of enchanting, healing beauty. It is short lived, but spreads it's beauty far and wide. And the most beautiful of all was Nimel.~
It was a request by Wolfe. I was bored. Don't comment if ya don't like.
Goodnight all...
