FORGIVE AND FORGET
When you said you loved me,
Was it only for me to forgive and forget,
When you rose your hand and struck my face,
As you yelled out "You're a disgrace",
Was it still only for me to forgive and forget,
And when you held me as if in fear,
Whispering kind words in my ear,
Was it out of guilt and regret,
Did you want me to forgive and forget,
...But yet you never did comfort me,
You were like a ghost in presence and memory,
Or was it i who was too blind to see,
Too ignorant by hate to notice,
That perhaps you did not mean for me to hurt,
And perchance you did once love me...
