Chapter 2!
Chpt 2. “Louis”
As soon as Lestat was out of the streets, he took the boy off of his shoulders and set him down on the soft, dew covered grass near a brook. He looked at the boy’s face and wondered if he was even alive.
So, he moved his face closer to the boy’s and studied him for some time. His facial features were some-what close to that of Lestat’s. He had a subtle but prominent chin, fair skin, he seemed to shave everyday, and his nose was small and slightly rounded.
Soon after, he stopped looking at him and sat down on the grass next to him and looked at the stars. ‘What’s so special about him? Vampires know that they are not allowed to touch an innocent…unless he serves a greater purpose to someone much powerful than they.” He thought.
Lestat decided to take a quick nap, so he lay down on the grass and fell asleep without much difficulty. He was awakened later by someone’s scream echoing throughout the morning air. Luckily for Lestat, it was a cloudy day so he wouldn’t have to worry.
He stood up, ran to a tree, and climbed it effortlessly. He surveyed the area and say a few blurry shapes in the distance. As Lestat arrived at the scene of the commotion, he saw that the boy was well and breathing. He also saw two vampires moving in for the attack.
“Come on now, it won’t hurt…. much” the one on the left sneered through his gaping fangs.
As the boy was backing up, he tripped over a log and fell onto his back. He kept backing up until he hit a tree.
The one on the right told the other vampire, “It’s much more fun when they run, but this’ll do.”
Just as they were about to latch onto him, Lestat jumped out of the tree and landed in front of them.
“Lestat! Wha-what are you doing ‘ere?” one asked shakily.
“Didn’t I already warn you about this?” Lestat asked, his voice sounding irritated.
The other vampire seized his chance and lunged for the boy, but he was thrown off in mid-attack and hit his head on a large log.
Lestat quickly disposed of the remaining attacker, and turned to the boy.
“Who are you?” he asked.
“L-Louis, sir” the boy replied uneasily.
“Please, call me Lestat.”
Louis stood up and looked at Lestat’s fangs. As he stood, his body trembled from fatigue and hunger. He almost fainted right on the spot, but supported himself with a nearby branch.
Lestat walked over and threw one of Louis’s arms over his shoulder and started to walk back to the brook.
“How did you do that? Back there, you didn’t even touch him.” Lestat inquired
“Well, I have this kind of…um…power.” Louis responded.
“Power? You mean telekinesis?”
“Yes, I get premonitions, move things with my mind, or if I concentrated hard enough on a single thing I could make someone go completely insane…or worse.”
They reached the brook and Lestat pulled something out of his satchel and handed it to Louis.
“Here, eat this, you need your strength.”
“I thought that vampires drank nothing but blood…”
Lestat looked at him with his piercing silver eyes and thought to himself, “He’s one of the few gifted beings. I thought that I was the only one, but I guess I’m not so alone after all…”
