My science teacher from the netherworlds...
I have a science teacher that's extremely odd and she just happens to be getting on in ages too. As I sat in her class I couldn't help but wonder why it is that I'm always so tiered that block (or period depending on your school). Well, here's a story for you that may end up getting you thinking about your own teacher.
The long droning bell signaling the end for the third block rang, relieving the teachers of their kids for a total of 5 minutes. Oh how both the instructors and the students longed for a longer break, more time for both to catch their breath and regain any lost composure from the last 90 minutes. It was a dream that would never become a reality. A young student, freshmem by her appearance, gathered up her belongings with clawed hands and flicked a loose strand of hair out of her face. "Until the 20th!" She called happily to her art teacher.
"Until the 20th." The portly women replied with a quick nod. Kaze had a few extra minutes before she had to get to her class that was just next door, so she took the time for a much needed bathroom break. After quickly scrubbing her hands she gave her reflection a quick once-over with a soft blue eye. Her midnight black fur laid smooth upon her body, her unruly silver hair had been drawn back into a loose pony-tail where it cascaded in sheets down her back, despite the restraint. She appeared to be a human-sized version of her ancestor, the fox, with a pair of honest blue eyes mixed with a touch of slyness to match.
She donned her usual attire, her silver collar with a ringing bell hung about her neck as usual and her sleevless white top, secured in the back with an iron feather clip, ended abruptly at her navel. On her left shoulder was a curious tattoo, one that she did not talk about frequently or at even at all. Her lower body was covered by a short white cloth that was split all the way up her sides, giving it the appearance of a loin cloth. To cover up what the cloth did not, she bore a pair of white shorts that ended mid-thigh, the left leg once again laced with the odd tattoo. Her ever-fluffed tail was bound in two places by a cloth secured with two more iron feathers, the top of her black tail ended in a rush of silver, much like her hair.
Satesfied, Kaze jogged to her next class, her intricate black and silver sheath bounced against her right leg. She plopped in her chair seconds before the long droning bell sounded once more for the class to begin. Her science teacher was an older white fox with a sly grin and a rasping voice, almost like claws on stone. She fixed the class with a pale yellow eye while the other danced about the room, an eerie trait that sent shivers creeping up everyone's spine. "On the 18th class." She rasped, her smile widening to reveal perfect white teeth.
"On the 18th..." The class replied rather reluctantly.
She gazed about the room once more before turning to her black board. Kaze released a breath that she didn't even know she'd been holding and that's when it hit her. It was like a wave of deprivation as she was sucked of energy, of life, of enthusiasm. How odd it was, especially since she'd been bouncing around just moments before. Kaze and a few other students, including her neighbor, stifled yawns and resisted the urge to lay their heads upon their desks. "...anyone tell me? Kaze?"
The young fox straightened in her seat and tried to refocus her blurry eyes on the board that rested on the wall right in front of her nose. "I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention." Was the quiet, shy response.
"I see," instead of giving the tiered girl a disapproving look, the science teacher's smile widened, "well you'll have to pay more attention, there will be a test on this very soon."
"Accepted and obeyed." Kaze replied in the regular apology. Satesfied, the teacher turned back to her problem, her open palm hanging just below the desk and out of sight to the students. They couldn't see as small specks of light issued from their yawning mouths and muzzles and into the teacher's old gnarled hand that was steadily becoming smoother, the fur returning and becoming glossier then before. As the students' fur lost its sheen and their instincts dulled along with their senses the teacher stood straighter and her fur grew back on the clumps of pink skin that had been exposed from age. Oh how it felt to be young again! So alive, each breath smoother and easier then the last! The teacher relished the feeling and continued to drone on about weather patterns though she knew the students were either asleep or in a whole nother world entirely.
At the ringing of the bell the students groggily gathered their belongings and a young vixen waved from the doorway, "Don't forget to study for that test." She barked out a series of cold laughs, knowing that they would fail easily and no one would even remember it, they'd blame it on late nights and activities. Oh how she loved her job!
Kaze tried to clear her head of the sleep she had just woken from and plowed through the hall of kids. Something wierd was going on in that class, she could feel it in her claws. The only questions were what, how, and how could she stop it? "On the 20th..." she muttered as she passed her teacher, noting the gleam of malevolence that shone from deep in the pupil. Once she was well out of earshot Kaze muttered a promise to herself, "On the 20th I'll find out what exactly you're up to..."
Hope you liked it! I'll write more on the 20th because that's really when I have her next (mybe it'll keep me awake to write this). 6 days and 7 hours left! Later!
