Chapter 14
She appeared like a fairy out of the mist, and Timerian instantly knew that he had made the right decision to give his life for that vampire. He readied himself. He had indulged all night in his favorite foods, and participated in his favorite activities. Now, seeing that stunning, pale face and those striking hazel eyes against that brunette and blonde hair, he only had a single regret. He would not ever know her better. He looked around that luxurious room he stayed in until midnight, with coal mahogany chests with emerald embedded within every surface and a light emanating from every corner, and knew it would all leave his view soon; that woman and the perfect milieu.
The room filled with crimson smoke suddenly, and he acknowledged that the time had come. He tried to ready himself, but could not. He closed his eyes and waited because that was the best he could do. One second, two, three; nothing happened. He opened one eye, to see a man that looked about twenty with endless night sky eyes and tanned skin. His hair would have fallen to his shoulders if it were not tied back in a leather band. He opened both eyes to look closer, and saw in his chiseled arm a little green bottle. Maybe the way he would die splashed around in that glass container.
As he recovered from the shock he had put himself in to ready himself for the end, he realized the two vampires were talking in the middle of a heated conversation. “…read the book to save me! Surely you cannot condemn him for that?”
“I must, and he shall die, for no creature may know our secrets but us. How about this: I shall give him the poison, but not the last drop. That way it is on the verge of deadly and depending on his soul, he might survive. I also will not give the finishing slash; especially since I cannot while you hold my sword.” At that moment he gave a look of annoyance toward his sword in Brea’s fist. “I think I am being extremely generous.” He said that as he walked toward the Elvin soldier. He grabbed the man’s jaw, forced it open, and poured that vile concoction down his throat. It stung and itched while making him feel instantly weak. Half of the bottle’s contents drained into his system, when it fell out of his mouth. His throat became free, and he spit out what filled his mouth at that moment. The male growled, and snatched at Brea, and they fought for grasp of the bottle. It slipped both of their grasps, and fell to the ground. The poison dissolved into the stone, making a dark stained gash in the golden oak floor. “You imbecile! Do you realize that you have destroyed our race? If every drop of that poison is not consumed by sun rise, we all really DO become allergic to sunlight!”
“Then you find a way to consume it!”
“Oh, I will.” He said as he walked to the fragments of glass. He stuck his hand over the broken glass and fluid, and it floated back together and into his hand. “For this, YOU shall drink it.”
“Fine, for I will not die from some stupid poison.” She grabbed it, undid the top, and drank as if it were some whisky. Timerian knew that the poison was not just “some stupid poison” from reading the book, and tried to warn Brea, but that vampire held his throat mentally. She almost drank the last drop, but with new found strength, he grabbed the battle, and licked it up before it fell, for he knew they must drink all of it. She instantly realized what he had known, for her skin tone darkened to a plumb, and her hazel eyes turned sapphire blue. The poison had taken affect; the god’s blood took affect. God’s blood, the most deadly poison ever created; the only poison that affects vampires. The cure would be impossible to find, he thought in his last moments of consciousness. He might survive, not being vampiran, but without the cure, she would never make it. The outside change would only be the beginning. He needed to get help. He needed to reach the door. Needed to get…
