The first week of the new semester has ended, and on a snow day, too! No school yesterday ^_^
No more Mrs. Lindstrom!!! *huge party* I dropped physics because of her (which is a shame, physics is cool), but now I ONLY have two textbooks I hardly use instead of two I hardly use and one I never use.
The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is in D-town this weekend! They're one of, if not THE best modern/contemporary dance companies around. I almost go to go to a master class taught by one of the company members! Jer really wanted to go and wanted to bring a group of us, but it turned out that the class was full (probably from the nearby colleges with dance majors). He's offering to take us to the evening performance, though! I've never been to a professional performance, so I'm excited, but Winterfest is also tonight, and I already bought my ticket. Winterfest is at 7pm and the show is at 8pm, and it's an hour drive to Detroit. I'd rather see the show, though. Winterfest tickets only cost $5.
I'm entering a comic contest! I've never actually done more than a few pages of a comic, and it was always a collab with a writer friend. I think I'll be okay, though, because Dustin and Sonja have been around since sophomore year, and their story has been developing constantly. The entry is only to be one or two pages, so I think I can handle pulling together a snippet ^_^
It's hosted by a community college in Ohio, but past winning entries have been from Pennsylvania, so I don't think location matters too much. Here's a link if anyone is interested!

Somebody Told Me
I love that song. I got the Incubus cd Light Grendades for xmas, it's really good. I'm also in love with The Killers, though why it took me so long to get Hot Fuss (also for xmas) is beyond me. Three of my friends have it, I could have burned a copy, but the chances of any of us remembering to do so is slim to none. Besides, I like owning the actual cd better, anyway. It's like a souvenir.
My lameness aside... I ALMOST submitted more artwork just now. But the files were too big, and I'm far too lazy to fiddle with those tonight/this morning. I've been drawing my ass off all break. It's actually really fun, but sometimes I worry about burnout in the future. I also miss dance a lot for some reason. It's only been a week! I go a month after the show since summer classes start in mid-late July. I guess it's because I know it's my last year and that I won't be able to dance while I'm in college.
Speaking of, I plan to study 3D animation, 'cause that's where it's at ^_~
OMG, I'm such a nerd. I'm doing a painting about the book Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. In all honesty, it was a last minute decision using an idea I had stored away from a lit assignment where we had to do an illustration. I did something else for that assignment because the idea (which I actually rather like) wouldn't fit any of the prompts, even the one that inspired it. I have the illustration from my sketch book scanned, but it's probably too big to submit right now.

STATE CHAMPS B*TCHES
Allow me to break down some school history:
We haven't made it to the state semis since '94. Our star quarterback (as well as myself) was only 4 when that happened. That's a LONG TIME.
We've NEVER made it past the semi-finals.
This was our FIRST time winning the semis and going to Ford Field.
It was our FIRST championship game. We were up against a team that's been to the finals and Ford Field a couple of times before.
WE KICKED THEIR ASSES HARDCORE. They were pwned from here to next week, and they've won the state championships before.
Oh yeah, and their team was bigger than ours. One of our smallest players was taking down players twice his size. Repeatedly. Throughout the game.
By the way, I don't even like football that much XP I just couldn't help but root on our awesome players, even though I don't even like some of them. Half of the seniors on the team are in my lit class. They won't be getting any special treatment. Well, nothing beyond a "great job at the game! Now close the damn window, it's COLD!"

So I'm thinking about overhauling my profile. But the only reason I'm here is because I actually remembered that this profile even existed. It saddens me. I used to be on frequently.
I'm probably going to delete my quiz results because they're from a time long ago and I now find them either immature or I just don't care about them anymore. I'm having issues with the Kakashi one. It won't hide or delete. Damn.
I'm turning into such a nerdfreakthing. I like video games and anime/manga, but then I freak about dance and art. My new thing to add to the list is literature. In world lit, we're reading Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. I love it with a steamy hot passion. I liked Lord of the Flies when we read it at school, and I plan to read 1984, A Separate Peace, and Catcher in the Rye. NERD.
So much so, that the title is a quote from Brave New World and I had to retype that last paragraph 4 times because I went off on a tangent about dance.

bored...
...but i feel like painting. maybe i'll pull up photoshop after this or something...
i don't know what my problem is with keeping up with this site. back when i first joined, i didn't have a problem. oh well. since i said i'd have art up a few weeks ago, i'm going to post something today. an unfinished sketch that i said i'd finish but never did, since i stopped drawing for the better part of two weeks.
nothing exciting going on at all. i got Gothic Sports vol. 1. Tokyopop is cranking out some good artists from Germany. i only know of two, but i adore both of their styles (which are very different, actually). Gothic Sports (by Anike Hage) looks to be a fun manga! be sure to check it out! as for the rockers out there looking for a tale of a band's hardships trying to make it in the biz (all the while dealing with school, jobs, relationships, and opportunities that may break them apart), check out Yonen Buzz by Christina Plaka. (uber <3 to her style, btw ^_~) Both titles are published by Tokyopop.
i think maybe i should shutup now and see to that posting of some art. >_>

Cedar Point!
Going to Cedar Point tomorrow! ^^ Dad finally managed to get a job around the time school lets out (relatively the same material he worked with before, but now he actually gets to draw again ^^) so we haven't had any quality time together this summer. So tomorrow, we're gonna bond over our love of roller coasters and adrenaline XP Also, randomly (since 10 minutes ago, literally) my cousin is spending the night tomorrow. So half the day with dad and the other half with Brit.
Don't you hate when something fun comes around, but then something else happens that threatens to damper all that fun? I have a bruise on the bottom of my foot where the toes meet the foot. It hurts to walk ^_~

Where did my life go?
Today, err... yesterday was my birthday! I'm 17 now, and in denial. I can't believe I'm going be a senior in high school! Where does time go? What happened to childhood and everything I miss from my sheltered youth? Except for middle school. Worst. Experience. Ever. I hate middle school with the burning passion of a thousand suns. Not fun. Anyway. High school kicks ass, so part of me doesn't want to leave. I hope next year goes by slow. Although I sort of know it won't. I'll blink and be wearing a cap and gown.
On to other news, though I'm still aching from conditioning (for dance) and tonight's three and a half hour classics class (ballet, tap, and jazz, all in one class), I feel it's important to say that I forgot what I was going to say. Other than ow. New manga volumes (Bleach 9, Land of the Blindfolded 4), new art in the works, etc. Maybe next week I'll have something up. If I'm not playing video games, which is why I haven't gotten on the computer in so long.
Shutting up now. Have a great weekend! ^__^

Luckiest day? I think not.
not lucky, just fun ^_^ nothing lucky happened. but i spent the night at my best friend's house, and this morning we went horseback riding. lots of fun ^____^ not really in the drawing mood today. tried earlier at Eri's house (we're making a comic together), but i wasn't feeling the vibe. just really tired. i had to get up before noon so we could get to the stables before anyone else. not complaining, though ^^
superstition is weird. that's why i enjoyed June 6th so much last year. we were still in school, so i got to watch a few people squirm with uneasyness. yay ^_~

Happy 4th!
I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday! And look! New art! I'll get more up eventually, I promise >.<
Don't you just hate when you're drawing on the computer, and all of a sudden, the program crashes? The window just closes suddenly, and you hadn't saved and everything was coming out better than expected? I hate that. I almost cried.
