Laeth E'Thae/Future Prospects Music Requests!
seeing as how I have nothing more pressing at the immediate moment, I thought I would save this spot in myOtaku to mention the Laeth and OS music lists I have going.
Call this an ambitious project, call it crazy, call me crazy, I don't care, I just thought I might do something different for my RPGs, and so far, Laeth and OS stick out in my mind.
Well, Let's get down to business, should you want to add something to the music list, just put it here. If someone not in either of these RPGs decides to add a song to the music list, that's fine too, but reid wither of the RPGs first, and make sure you prove to me you've read them (you know, cite examples as to why youchose your music, etc.)
Ok, here's my (albeit limited) uptade this week.
Laeth E'Thae:
The Grudge by Tool
Eon Blue Apocalypse by Tool
Bullets by Creed
Courage by Alien Ant Farm
OS: Future Prospects:
Parabol by Tool
Disposition by Tool
Faaip de Oiad by Tool
Raise Up by Saliva
Calm like a Bomb by Rage Against the Machine
In My Head by Pale 3
As you can tell, I recently bought the CD "Lateralus" by Tool, and that's where I got much of the music for this. The rest is older stuff.
Starting with Laeth E'Thae
Mcuh of my line of thinking behind these songs deviated from the normal course of the story, and sprung mainly into ideas I plan on using later on, with Madame Arcadia's permission. Therefore, these songs can only be used should my ideas work out.
The Grudge is about exactly what it sounds like, a grudge. It is about nine minutes long, and works as a great fight song, with maybe some suspense added to it. I plan on using it with Kan's character, and it tells us a little about his history. Eon Blue Apocalypse is a song for Kaze, and the song itself is nothing but a 1 minute guitar solo. I like it, though, as it is relaxing and lonely in it's own way, making me think of Kaze.
Bullets and Courage are both fighting songs, and they both are unique in the sense that, despite the fast pace, they convey a sense of desperation and anger, at least, according to me.
OS:FP
Parabol and Disposition are both songs to fit Rao's bill, so to speak, as they are both slowly moving, and convey a sense of deep thought and pain, as exhibited in the many text diaries Rao leaves behind in my posts. Parabol is a slower version of Parabola, which I mentioned earlier, and is also the prelude the the latter song. Furthermore, Disposition is technically only half a song, like Parabola, but it is quite long, and, in my opinion, fit's Rao, as it is more peaceful and relaxing. Faiip de Oiad, on the other hand, is more suspenseful and creepy, as it is not really a song, but more of a sound effect, as it appears to be a bad recording of an insane guy talking about the existence of aliens, while the static and sound effects build in the background. For this effect ot be similar, I interpreted the use of "aliens" in the story as being "SATA units", and therefore, the song fit more easily.
Raise Up and Calm... are both good fight songs, since Raise was considered to be a radio rock remix of an earlier gunfighting song by the same band, and Calm is from the Matrix Reloaded St, go figure.
In My Head also seemed to be a fairly natural choice, as it inspired me to do the scene where Sata enters Rao's head and replays his memories as a "replay file", which is very similar to the premise behind In My Head.
Oh, and for one last strange fact before I go:
"Sata" is the name of a Portuguese airline company that shuttles exclusive flights between the Azores and Canada. I used it when I couldn't think of a name, and didn't even think of the word "Sata" as being an abbreviation until I wrote it down.
So long, folks, and mind your heads on the way out.

Increivel!
Well, something cool did actually happen today, which means that I probably have at least a little bit of a life, contrary to popular belief.
We were visited today by famous historian/journalist Gwynne Dyer on the subject of the war in Iraq, and he had some very interesting things to say on the subject, since he had been in the Canadian, American and British naval forces, and knows enough about how things work to understand Bush's motives. you can take a look at his website if you want to hear more.
Furthermore, there was a math competition for half the school, and although I don't think I did too well (not too bad either,) it ate up two more classes, so my entire day consisted of about one hour of work.
Then again, I have to go to a rehearsal later tonight, so I expect to come home dead as usual again.
Lastly, I hope to update my RPG music lists sometime, so take a look this weekend if you're interested.
Ciao, people, and don't bang your head on the way out.

Such complete and utter crap...
Well, now that OB is down, I must find new and more exciting ways to prove that I have no life. That sucks, really.
Once OB comes back up, I'm gonna give myself carpal tunnel syndrome from surfing so much, yes, that's just how eager I am to start writing once more. Until then, though, I'm going to have to content myself with other things.
For example, hopefully I'll be going to the mall tomorrow so I can buy a transfer cable (move music and such from my old PC to my new one) and maybe, Lateralus by Tool or an anime DVD, If I have the cash.
On a better note, my good buddy got his new cable Internet up and running, so we could play Warcraft again! If any of you play Warcraft, you'll find me under my usual name: Wondershot.
And so, to depart, allow me to provide links to my other places of amusement.
PlanetTribes' "All Your Base Effect."
Armored Core Online
ACO Forums
Tokage Heavy Industries
If you know me at least a little, you'll already recognize ACO and ACO Forums, where I waste my time and burn my eyes obsessing over Armored Core.
PlanetTribes' All Your Base Effect is something I discovered fairly recently, and therefore found hilarious. If you guys ever heard of the "All Your Base" line, or ever heard of the game ZeroWing for Sega Genesis, then you will immediately recognize this.
Tokage Heavy Industries is a Japanese AC fansite, and a very cool one in my opinion. Contains some of the best fanart I've ever seen. Just thought one might want to take a look for fun.

Oh no!
Well, it was a cool four-day weekend, at least outside of the computer, but on the boards, it sucked.
Ok, for openers, only one person seemed interested in my RPG, maybe I made it too complex or something, oh well. The weekend is winding down now, and I have nothing to do for the 8 hours or so of weekend I have left.
On the other hand, this Sunday was pretty cool, as I visited a friend of mine for a few hours, and we had Asian food, courtesy of his mom. He and another buddy of mine, the infamous Steve, showed me a game he got for his computer, a Love Hina dating sim. It was really funny, actually, what with all the girls trying to kill you all the time. We had a good laugh.
Since nothing else seems newsworthy this time around, I figure I'll go off on another tangent and write about music and RPGs. Unfortunately, there has been little response from the RPGs I'm participating in (sadly, the best writers on the boards didn't seem to be around lately, as, unlike me, they probably have lives.) This week's feature would have to be Laeth E'thae, one of the more interesting RPGs I've been in, courtesy of Madame Arcadia.
Re-Entry by Limp Bizkit
Almost Over by Limp Bizkit
Thanks For Nothing by Sum 41
Minerva by The Deftones
Peace Sells by Megadeath
Millionaire by Queens of the Stone Age
Soil by System of a Down
Drop to Zero by Trust Company
Take it All by Trust Company
Go by Andy Hunter
Well, all I can say is all that depressing music I've been listening to over the years has finally caught up with me. Probably the main reason why I thought of Kaze as a character, an ultra-depressive preteen.
The music by Trust Co. basically tells all about Kaze, as Take it All is about giving up and letting it all go bay, and Drop to Zero is...well...basically about the same thing. Kaze seeks to give up on life for whatever reason, and we are not sure why he can't seem to do it, if his own soul keeps him alive, or something else.
Soil by System of a Down was probably more of a hit or miss song for Laeth E'thae, the best I can make out about this song is the lyric "evil lives in your skin", hence the idea of the plague, and revenge.
Thanks For Nothing would probably seem out of place, since it's Sum 41, but it is about Kaze being a outcast of society, being able to see spirits and all, and how, as the song says: "this is who we are, and nothing's gonna change, Thanks for Nothing."
Minerva made me think of Kaze almost immediately, as it is about wandering and trying to find something to give your life meaning, at least, that's what I think it means. I've seen the music video, and it's this guy wandering through a desert at night, which is very Kaze, in my opinion.
Peace Sells has more to do with someone else I plan to introduce to the story, someone very close to Kaze. There is a clash when the two meet, and Kaze learns more about his history than he ever wanted to know, like why he is an exorcist, and why he really is shunned by society.
Millionaire is about Kan, Kaze's fun-loving buddy who offers the crew a lift in his airship, and his soon-to-be-revealed skills when it comes to helping out the rest of the crew.
Go is, again, about Kaze, and comes at a truning point when he starts to learn more about himself, hence the sound of the heartbeat at the beginning of the song, and, it's also a fight song, for those of you who have played Enter the Matrix on whatever system, and, it gets a little sad at the end, wihch I found, was a nice ending touch.
Finally, the two Limp Bizkit songs, Almost Over is about Kan and Kaze as friends, and it really suprised me when I heard it, as it is almost an exact description of the two of them (except for the parts about rapping and such.) For example, there's the little kid, being pushed around and always having to fight, but never afraid, who grows up into a man, who learns to stand on his own two feet, make a name for himself, but who's still just a kid. Sounds a lot like Kan and Kaze to me. Lastly, Re-Entry is generally a fight song, but is could be used to describe all the characters, the world of Laeth E'thae, since the refrain is "all around the world, you know me/we know you."
Enough, I say, I must go do something else before having to return to school.
Then again, I have no life now, so there's probably no point.

Huh...
Wow, It's 2:30 and I just woke up, just another example of the kind of week I've had. (hey, even if I go to bed at 3 a.m., I still usually get up by noon.)
Anyway, this week was, thankfully, a short week for school, but it was certainly no less hectic. We had a winter Carnival this year (as we do every year) and it lasts three days. On the first day, we had classes till noon, then we went to go watch "The Great Race" in which some poor people were forced to run an obstacle course outside...in -20 degree weather...in two feet of snow.
After having a good laugh at their expense, we went inside and had a great costume party, where we all had to dress up like stars from some TV show or movie, as that was the theme of the carnival. I went as Matt Hardy from the WWE, since I was lucky enough to find a shirt of his in my posession. We then had an auction in which cool baked items were for sale, among other things, and my friend was fortunate enough to win two loaves of bread and a giant box full of junk food. It was cool to watch. After that, we went to dinner and ate until we felt sick, then had to each go to our houses to practice the house skits. In ours, I played a bootleg ticket seller who ended up pissing off a group of communists who then went of to build a tank (yes, we built a tank out of wood for the skit) and kill the cast of American Idol, then burst into Michael Jackson's house to take the most powerful item in the world, the Ross (my house) House's Spirit Stick. After that, it was a battle between Michael Jackson, George Bush, and the Commies for the stick, and then our house teacher jumped up out of the audience and began giving one of his famous astronomy lectures (since the theme of Carnival was STARS) scaring everyone, even the tank, away. It was funny, as, for my costume, I wore a box with a hole cut in it over my head, and another box around my body, featuring the caption "Tikit Master". There was a whole lot more, as, Kurt Cobain of Nirvana rose from the dead to appear on American Idol, and was shot down by Simon Cowell (figuratively) and the tank (literally). James bond and Ghandi came out to try and stop the tank, but they were both flattened, and a young hobbit, Meagol, was captured by Michael Jackson because he posessed the awesome power of the Spirit Stick (remember, this was just rehearsal, the real show came on Friday).
The next day, we had a lot of obstacle courses to participate in, and I played Earthball (soccer with a six foot in diameter ball) and Broomball (hockey with plastic sticks shaped like brooms). After that, we all went inside and played on a giant inflated fun park the school rented for us, which I liked to call "the washing machine" as afterwards, I came out so dizzy I had a headache. After that, each of the houses went to play Tug Of War in the snow, where Ross House made history. We happened to be good friends with another house, Chapman, so when it was our turn to battle, Ross won round one, Chapman won round two, and then when round three came along, we all dropped the rope and left. We told the Headmaster what happened, and the thought it was hilarious, now Chap-Ross relations are better than ever, and we are now the only houses to have ever scored a tie in Tug Of War. We practiced our skits again (and ordered pizza) and then went home to collapse.
On the last day, I went in early so I could have breakfast, and practice the skit one more time. Around 11:00, we went into the gym to watch other skits, and then present our own, it was really cool, and I'm sure we got points for our tank. After that, we all went to eat our last meal at school, and then the buses left for the airport, and Ross students went back home. Now, I have a four-day weekend, and so I decided to start an RPG to comemmorate my good mood (see below post for details)
Have a beautiful weekend everyone, best wishes from your local frozen wasteland!

EarthBound!
It's been quite a week, and I am really tired now so I'll just give you the big news now and leave the details of my week for tomorrow.
I have just created a new RP in Recruitment to celebrate my good mood. It's called EarthBound: The Day They Returned, and I'm hoping that some good writers will join up. Take a look at it if you're interested. I put a little work and a lot of typing into it, so enjoy, and I'll see you tomorrow.

*gasps for breath*
Needless to say, it's been quite a week. Hence my new favorite expression, "my school isn't boring, but aside from that I have no life." Too true.
Generally, It's been a fairly productive week. I am now in the play "Much Ado About Nothing" and I tried out for the drill team in Cadets. If I'm lucky, I'll make the drill team and go to several cities to be in parades, as well as be the main event at our Cadets inspection this spring. As I said, aside from school it's hard to have a normal life.
On the other hand, I made a couple of nice purchases. My mom and I got gifts for my dad's birthday. (I won't mention them because he might read this) Furthermore, I got Battlefield: Secret Weapons of WWII Expansion for myself, so I should have some fun this weekend.
Oh, and I also posted in Solo's Outlaw Star: Future Prospects because I didn't want it to die so easily. It got me thinking, too, I listen to music to get ideas and such, despite the fact that they don't usually work out in the story. However, I think I might burn a CD with several tracks that gave me ideas for the story, sort of an unofficial soundtrack. Here are a few of my favorites:
Phenomenon by Limp Bizkit
Underneath The Gun by Limp Bizkit
Creamer by Limp Bizkit
Deer Dance by System of a Down
Jet Pilot by System of a Down
Parabola by Tool
Juicy by I.M.E.
Me vs. Me by 4LYN
Leave You Far Behind by Lunatic Calm
Dragula by Rob Zombie
Ultrasonic Sound by Hive
Seed by Sublime
Prime Audio Soup by Meat Beat Manifesto
Young Grow Old by Creed
Ok, now, here's my line of thinking behind some of these songs (some may only make sense if you've read the story, I won't bother with explanations here.)
All the Limp Bizkit songs make me think of Rao, Phenomenon is mostly about the wilder side of his personality, the unpredictability that sparks in the heat of battle and makes him do things he wouldn't do otherwise. Underneath The Gun is more about his relationship with the emotionless Sata and wrestling with his own inner demons. Creamer made me think of him as a Ban Pirate, seeing himself a tier above the rest of the group, knowing that he is part of the future and the rest of the world is ignorant of his generation of space pirates.
Parabola by Tool is Sata's theme song, as it is wild and intense at the start, and calming, and also conveys a sense of holiness and greater powers, which makes Sata interesting as a character because she is so emotionless and mundane, but capable of incredible things that not even Rao is aware of. (To be honest, the character Sata was inspired by KOS-MOS from Xenosaga, as she is also a mechanical weapon, but exhibits strange spiritual and godly powers under certain circumstances.)
Deer Dance makes me think of the Ban, because they are basically the other power with their own views of how the world should be run. Coincidentially, Deer Dance is a statement against globalization and martial law, so it kind of fit together from me. Jet Pilot is about the ship Malus Gemellis, and it's soon to be revealed hidden capabilities.
Ultrasonic Sound is a fight song, and it seems to mix in with Sata's robotic existence, as the song itself sounds very mechanical. Leave You Far Behind was a no-brainer, as it is, in my opinion, the ultimate techno fighting music. Dragula I would use, once again, for space combat using the Malus Gemellis, and more of Sata's hidden talents come into play. Me. vs. Me is also a cool fight song, but also one to be used in car chases and such, especially when riddled with stunts. (this seemed apt since the song is also in the XXX OST, and is played in that scene where Vin Diesel snowboards through an avalanche.) Juicy is also from the XXX OST, but it made me think as Sata and Rao as being famous assassins. Especially with the lyric "that killer's got it made."
Young Grow Old by Creed is, in my interpretation, a song about discovery and learning more about yourself and others, what better song to fit Sata and Rao? Rao has much to learn about Sata, and he may end up surprising himself in the process.
Seed by Sublime is actually one of my most pointless choices, as it is nothing more than a flash-in-the-pan song with no connection to the story. However, it is sort of fast-paced, and could probably be used in a mock battle involving a lot of comedy.
Last, but not least, Prime Audio Soup actually fit perfectly with my introduction to the story. (In Recruitment signup) It has almost no lyrics, but grows more and more insane and climactic until dissipating back to slow and cool. This was sort of the thing I had in mind when posting the exchange between Rao and Saito, becoming more and more intense as Rao talks murder with Saito, and Sata poisons Saito's coffee. Eventually, the two dump the body, and return to the shadows from whence they came, much like the pace of the song itself.
Man, now that I finally have time to do stuff I end up doing pointless stuff like talk endlessly about writing and music, way to go, me.

And now, for something completely different...
HOW TO LIVE IN CANADA
at least, according to me.
1: Bitch about the weather, or brag, or cry, just make it known to the rest of the world, it's our pride. (Follow by example, kiddies. Now, what was I doing all last week?...right.)
2: No matter how temporary, you should celebrate your victories (sure, that three foot wall of ice at the end of your driveway is gonna be back tomorrow, but you have to admit that giving it the axe was fun.
3: No matter the situation, there's always something on hand that could be useful. (the side of your shovel, the tiny ice pick, or the axe, which one sounds more fun to take down that annoying layer of ice covering your street?)
4: No matter what, the world is always a better place when people work hard. (When I work hard, my dad sometimes lets me off shoveling, when my dad works hard, he falls asleep before he can ask me to shovel.)
5: No matter how little or how much stress you have, it always feels so much better after you break something. (Especially something fragile, like glass, but since that probably isn't a good idea, break ice on your driveway, throw it at your wall, bash it on your head, it's all good.)
I should write a book, I really should. (Or do my homework, I really should.)

Gah, estupido
I completely forgot that you can't see my ACO story unless you are registered. Oh well, unless you are interested in registering for some reason, don't bother. I don't think I'm gonna win anyway.
Well, the Otaku Awards Nominations have closed, and my fondest wish came true, as I was nominated for RPer of the year :), and although I don't think I'll win, at least I know I've been thought of. Danke, Solo.
Ah, well, enough of my random selfishness. Have a beautiful weekend, people (if you can take the cold, that is.)

woo
What a day, some of the stupidest fun I've had in a long time.
It was my friend's birthday today, so we all went out to a Chinese restaurant where we had food that we could get anywhere else. (pointless, eh?) After we stuffed ourselves, we went to the bowling alley where we had a hilarious time. (I bowled about seven strikes.) and during the second game we had them put up the guards so there were almost no gutterballs (my friends still managed to get gutters sometimes, since the guards don't cover everything. We invented some new throwing techniques, and someone nearly broke their ankle from a wild throw. Furthermore, we tried throwing two balls at once, and when the machine started, one of them owuld get caught at the end of the alley. It sucked because we thought we would be thrown out. Oh, and we also changed our names a few times. After that, we went to my friend's house, where we played Time Crisis 3 on his PS2, complete with light guns! (the good old days, ne?) Now I want to buy that game.
Oh, and I've written a new story in ACO Forums Writing Contest, so when the voting starts after the weekend, be sure to vote for me! ^_~
