Bura-Bure, complete with facelift!
Today's OCRemix: "StArMaNn Mega" Earthbound Remix by DJ Seith. Now, don't expect your conventional Remix whenever you go to OCRemix.org. Everytime you go, expect to find something new wand exciting, or small and boring. Don't ever go there with expectation on what those songs may be, however. Just go to a game you like, and play it by ear, downloading one or two things at a time that look good. Now, when this Remix "happened" to get onto my list, my first reaction was: "Wow, what was this guy thinking." followed immediately by: "I like it." Whenever you go download something by Seith, his trademark style involves warping and distorting clips from the soundrack of the game itself, and playing them in no particular order, also featuring an independent drumline and using sound effects from the game itself. Even if it doesn't make the most sense, you can't really doubt the all out weirdness in trying to understand music like that. My hat goes off to DJ Seith for making a Remix that completely befuddled me with its warped sounds, and knocking on doors and the static that comes at the end of the world.

(I still think you should get this Remix, just don't expect to understand it if you haven't played Earthbound.)

Well, the site has finally recieved its much-awaited plastic sugery, there were no fatal accidents during its construction, and this site was not tested on animals before being released to the general public.

Now that's environmental concern for ya.

Well, now that I have the new look, I thought I might take a look back at the old. For me, the old started when I first went to OB, and some of the more interesting first impressions I had when visiting the site.

Well, I would like to say that I didn't behave like a dumb newbie, but that would be a lie, since my first stop was Adventure Arena, and would act out in stories too quickly for anybody to react. This earned me a few sour looks from some of the other members, but I quickly began to get the grasp of general RPing, to let other people have their chance to write as well, and to try and go more with the flow of what the creator had in mind. My first good friends when it came to RPing were Dmitri and monkeyqueen (who was known back then as oekakiotaku.) After a little while, I began to get better at the writing part, in the context of RPing, to the point that it became work and I began to write less and less. After a little while, I tried to write a few of my own RPs, but the first one died almost before it finished, then then next two died a few pages in and my most recent one never even made it to the Adventure Arena. Sad, I know, but someday I hope to be able to work on something new, and I take a great pleasure from sharing my thoughts with others, even if they aren't big hits or anything.

Now, with V7, the original charm of being a newbie member is all but gone, and I now try to be extra-wary when looking at new RPs in production. Only every once in a while does a really cool one come along, and I do my best to work in it, and usually watch its progress even if it doesn't go too well. As I said before, the RPing for me is starting to look like a real commitment, like work, but hopefully, I'll be able to continue my RPing and practice my writing skills both inside and out of the Adventure Arena, stopping only to get an iced tea and listen to some music.

Well, what were everyone's first impressions with OB? Now that times have changed somewhat, I have sort of lost the "exciting" taste for the site, but I still go because I like to write. What did you think when you first came to the site? How have you changed now? What do you like most?

Heh, good memories.
