Crazy Weather
Beginning
We have a snow day today. We're supposed to get up to 6 inches, which is a lot for our area. The strange thing is that it felt like 80 degrees on Wednesday, and now it's snowing!
Before I forget, I want to say that I plan on changing my site layout to another Air theme later today.
I haven't posted in forever. Where do I start? Let me ask a better question, what interesting things have happened in the past week or so in the mundane life of Xanth?
Flash Flash Revolution
Well, as you guys know I'm obsessed with the game Dance Dance Revolution (DDR). Someone gave me a link to FlashFlashRevolution.com, and I was like "they have online DDR? ¢¾ *in paradise*"
So now it's officially my new obsession and I've been spending a lot of time there. ^^" Unfortunately, their server doesn't seem to be working right now. I wonder if it's because of the snow?
Web Design Competition
At school, the web design club (which I am a member of) entered a competition, which took place on Wednesday. Okay, let me say first that I can create something halfway decent if I'm left to myself for a while. Let me also say that I'm never going to that place again. There were a number of things that pissed me off.
Let me go over everything that happened.
- First of all, even before it started, they never gave us any information, such as how are we supposed to get our files to the competition? Do bring a CD? Do we email the files to them? Do we put them up on the school server, and email a link?
- When we got there everyone was assigned group numbers then told "Groups *random numbers* go this way, everyone else go that way." And then apparently they split up everyone else. Of course, me and my partner went with the wrong part of "everyone else".
- We eventually got to where we were supposed to go. We were told to redesign a crappy website in 2 hours. Honestly, I think 2 hours is too short for creating something decent, but then again, I'm still more or less a novice, the really good people (who won the contest) finished and then some.
- This is what really pissed me off. We were never given an instruction sheet at the beginning, with log-in details, etc. So we spent our first hour (half the given time) going through a chain of people asking "How the f***ing hell do we get onto your computers?" only more politely. XD After half the time passed, we managed to get a guy who gave us the necessary log-in information, so we couldn't even start until half the time was over.
- By this point, me and my partner were completely panicked, choked, and made the crappy website look even worse than it did before. T-T
- Time ended, and our site looked like sh*t.
- After that, everyone went to the cafeteria to eat lunch (the competition was held at a relatively nearby college) where we hooked up with the other groups from our school.
- A raffle ticket contest was held. My partner got lucky and won a printer. (one of the good things that happened in the contest) I feel happy for him, because he really wanted that printer.
- They went over the winning sites, which I have to say, looked spectacular for only 2 hours, and the prizes those contestents got... only... They didn't really win anything! O_O They got scholorships to the college where this was held. If they choose not to go to that college, they get nothing!
- Well, the competition ended, and we went to go find our schoolbus. They didn't arrange a place for the buses to park, so we had to wander around town for a while. Since I twisted my ankle earlier that day, I was very far from happy with this wandering.
- On the way back, I just had a general feeling that everything at the competition had gone badly (except for the fact that my partner won a printer off the raffle).
- You know how school buses bounce and jolt all the time? The laptop fell off the seat from next to me, and the corner hit my twisted ankle. It was a little on the painful side.
- I felt so happy when we got back. I'm glad it's over.
May the gods of sporks and insanity be with you,
~Xanth~
