Definition.
The circulatory system transports nutrients, wastes, oxygen, carbon dioxide and hormones in a fluid called blood.
Organs and functions.
The main parts are the veins, arteries, capillaries and heart. The heart has two pumps, one for oxygenated blood, to other organs and tissues, and one for deoxygenated blood, to the lungs. First, Blood without oxy goes into the heart’s right atrium. It then goes into the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle. After that, it goes into the pulmonary artery and goes into the lungs. This is where it gets oxygen and goes into the pulmonary veins. These four veins(two for each lung) carry oxygenated blood into the heart’s left atrium.
CARING FOR THE SYSTEM
If you eat fatty foods, your arteries may clog up with cholesterol. Prevent this by eating a healthy diet and exercising well.
Medical discoveries
William Harvey found out about the circulatory system after dissecting many creatures. He found out that the heart was the pump of the system.
