Seconds till Contact
One day two friends, Rin and Rafael, were walking home from school. They had been friends for a few months. In school, Rafael was Rin's sempai by two years.
"Watch Out!" Rafael screamed. He had reached out her, all too short.
"Wha-ahhh"
Those few seconds had changed the both of them, Rin had crossed the road in colission of a jeep.
"Rin! Oh god, you're arm!" Rafael had knelt down to her and held her up in his arms. The driver of the jeep had stopped and called for an ambulence. When it arrived rafael had demanded that he ride with her. Frustrated the medic agreed and got Rin in the stretcher.
"I'm so sorry, I could have saved you..." Rafael had stared at Rin the whole ride hoping she'd wake up. Upon arrival, she was rushed into surgery. Her arm and head had been bathered in blood, which she had lost much of.
"Hello..." Rafael had called Rin's mother to tell her what happened. It did not go well at all, but her mother just hung up the phone on Rafael.
"Great..."
"Okay, my mom." *beep* *ringing*
"Mom? Sorry i'm at the hospital-
No i'm fine Rin got into an accident so i went with her-
oh i dunno, she's in surgery. well a jeep hit her, opening her arm and head-
thanks mom, i'll call later." Rafael then waited.
At long last, a doctor had come out from the surgery room.
"Excuse me!"
"Yes?"
"Rin, the girl in there, is she okay?"
"The coma seems to-"
"COmA!?"
"Please calm down, when she used her arm to break the fall, she saved her life."
"How is she?"
"She hasen't woken up, and her arm's nurves are damaged. She may not be able to use it again. although her head is our most concern. She might loose her memories..."
"WHAT!"
"I'm sorry, you can go see her now."
"Rin-" Rafael quickly walked into the room.
"Oh god!" Rafael was filled with grief. Rin had an IV hooked to her. Her face had stitches around her nose. her arm was casted up. Her neck was in a brace, and her eye was darkened.
"..." Rafael walked by her and held her hand and began to stroke her cheek. his eyes swelled with tears seeing her in this state.
"Please wake up...please." Rafael had stod there for so long that a nurse found a chair for him to sit in, as her continued to be three inches away from her.
time passed and Rafael had been asked to leave a few times but was being force when visiting hours ended.
"Please let me stay the night with her I-"
"Kid, you have to leave, it's agienst regulation to let you be here after hours."
"...ah...fine." Rafael had stood up. He held back tears, and looked hard at Rin. Before he left he leaned in twards her. He had given her a kiss, the first one they had shared. he held his head over her, releasing tears which dropped onto Rin's face.
"Rin I'm sorry" Rafael backed away.
"mmn...nn...ah" Rin had begun to stir.
"Rin!"
"Well kid, looks like you woke her up."
"Rin!"
"Ah?" Rin had looked at Rafael with eyes of confusion.
"Where am I" Rin had slowly said. "Who are you?"
