~ Part 20 ~


*happy smile* After I forced myself to write a starting the creative juices just flowed lol. and I'm sorry about yesterday. I'm going to make it to everyones sites today, Promise! well I guess then on with the fic!

~ Part 20 ~

In her great battle the Essence left behind the power to defeat the creature if she was to fail. Alas greed and pain corrupted it changing its outcome. It became part of the creature itself… until it revolted…

Sitting outside in the sun were Naru and Danielle. They talked about everything since Danielle woke up. How Malik was, the weather, her new lifestyle. Neither of them could remember anything that had happened with the strange green light. But it was gone now so they didn’t worry about their lost memory.

After a time Malik also joined them. Sadly he was pulled into their gossip. He even shared some he knew. Naru was hugging on him and laughing with him so much that even Isis came up. She said that dinner was ready. She had sent Malik up to tell them, but he used the excuse that he forgot.

“You go ahead. I would like to watch the sunset.” Danielle said
“Alright, I’ll keep Malik from eating all the food.” Naru said and went down the stairs.

Danielles’ thoughts drifted once again to Seto. She had left with not even a good bye. ‘He probably thought I ditched him. He hates me now…’ She thought as a single tear rolled down her face.

The sun was almost down. The colors were magnificent. All the reds and blues. Oranges and Pinks. Purples and Greens. The air seemed to shimmer with the radiance of it. Just as the sun was three-fourths of the way down something else come from the setting sun.

A person was walking toward her. Danielle didn’t see here before because the sun had been in the way. Half rising to her feet the figure stopped. She decided to see if they needed any help, so she walked toward them and they started walking to her.

Getting closer she could make out it was a girl with long hair and clothes that didn’t fit in with the desert. Gasping when she realized whom it was Danielle ran to them. When she reached them the girl practically collapsed into her arms.

“Danielle…” The person sighed.
“Calla! How did you get here? Are you alright?”

She didn’t respond. Urging her to walk Danielle half-dragged half-carried Calla to the stairs. Setting her down just inside Danielle quickly closed the overhead door cutting out the heat. Looking down at her friend Danielle could tell she was dehydrated. Callas’ skin had a red tint to it, showing she was out there all day.

“Calla, can you hear me? Say something, please.”
Breathing in a little she said softly, ”I’m sorry…

Relieved that she was still alive Danielle quickly got help for her. The halls were alive with activity for the longest time. The healer told them she had lost too much water. Her organs were on the brink of shutting down. How she had survived as long as she did was a miracle. They tried to get her to drink, but she could hardly even keep it down.

Naru and Danielle were in Maliks’ room. They were talking about how Danielle knew her. Of how she threatened her when they were at Setos’ house, even how they had been friends in school. Looking a little guilty Naru said she knew her too.

“What? How?” Danielle asked
“Well you see, I don’t really KNOW her I just kinda know OF her. She was in my dreams the past two nights. And the sorceress you say is her mom I’ve read a little about her, well really Malik did. He tried to teach me how to read the ancient text so we went over a paragraph with her in it many times. I know it by heart now,” She gave a little laugh, “It said:

‘A sorceress protected the Pharaohs’ family line for as far back as the written word knows. She never aged nor could she die. Her powers were said to rival the gods themselves. But she denied being a god herself. She trained every Pharaohs first child until they were too old to learn anymore. Then she would leave until a new heir is born. Her appearance was of a goddess. Long silver hair with eyes of the deepest Violet. Her return marked good fortune and wealth for the crops they raised. Since she brought no harm to the people she was welcomed everywhere.’

And that was all he taught me.” Naru finished.

The healer came into the room, “Your friend is awake and Mistress Naru. Please no more friends. They’ve kept me up for the past three nights with there healing.” He smile
“Of course Oten I promise no more.” She smiled

They hurried over to Callas’ room. She was sitting up in bed looking very healthy. She was fussing with the younger healers that she was fine. Catching sight of the two of them Calla smiled.

“Danielle! How are you? I hope I didn’t startle you when you saw me a little while ago.”

A loud grumble could be heard throughout the room. “hehe sorry!” Danielle put her hand on her stomach. It was the thing that had growled really loud. Naru fell into fits of laughter. Looking embarrassed Danielle could only smile as her face turned red. “I forgot I haven’t eaten any dinner”

Calla was also laughing, “Yeah food sounds great!” She swung her legs over the bed and jumped up. Rolling her eyes at the healers as they told her she needed to rest, she walked over to them. “So whos your friend Danielle?” Extending her hand, “Hi I’m Calla,”
Naru took it saying, “And I’m Naru. Welcome to my home.”
“And what a lovely home it is! Why this stone wall goes very well with the stone floor.” They all broke into laugher again.

Walking them to the dinner room they talked about this and that. Danielle really wanted to know how she had gotten here but didn’t say anything about it. Malik was waiting for them in the dinning room. He frowned at Calla but greeted her. Danielle and Calla dug into the food as took Malik outside.

“Hun do you remember that scripture you were teaching me from?” Naru said
“Ah, the one with the sorceress in it?” Malik said
“Yes could we maybe read from it again? I’d like to learn more about that sorceress.”
“um, ok…”

They walked to his room and he got out the book again. Continuing from the part they had left off Naru learned how to read scripture more and learning about that sorceress.

‘Eventually the people grew afraid of her. Her powers were starting to scare them. Rumors of how she was sucking away the Pharaohs power for herself sprang up, or how she wanted her blood to be in the Pharaohs line to make her stronger, and many others. They wanted her to be killed by beheading in the middle of town. The Pharaoh finding the claims ridiculous told her she needed to leave before things got out of hand. So she left.
After she was gone a dark creature descended from the heavens and brought devastation to the people. They wept for the Pharaoh to help them. So the Pharaoh help a ceremony praying to the gods for forgiveness in what ever they had done. During this ceremony the dark creature entered the palace. The palace was surrounded by a dark cloud that no one could get in or out. A blinding flash destroyed the barrier. The Pharaoh was praised for saving them.
The priests were given powers stronger than any knew. They had items that became know as the Shadow items for that is what they brought. Thus began the shadow games…’

Malik stopped her there. Looking into her eyes he said, “Why did you want to know about the sorceress?”
Looking back at him she said, “Because I thought it was interesting.”
Taking her chin in his hand he said, “Now the truth.”
Casting her eyes downward she said, “I think she is in my dreams. I remembered the description of her and it fit the woman in my dreams.”

Letting her go he went into deep thought. ‘First the light and then the dreams. My Ra what else could happen?’

“Are you mad at me?” Naru asked tenitavly.
“No, just worried.”
“About what?”
“Nothing lets go to bed. I’m tired.”

They cuddled in bed and Malik, with all his heart, wanted nothing more than to protect her…

Danielle and Calla were in the room that they were sharing. Talking deeply about the current events.

“I think your right,” Calla said, “This sorceress woman, you told me about, is in some way connected to me.”
“Yes, and I’m very sure of it now.” Danielle replied
“How so?”
“Well for one, you should have died today. Unless you had some magic help you, you should have died. And another, how did you get here so fast? Then get lost as you did?”
“I’m not really sure. I only remember blacking out and waking up with a major headache. Then being here. How did you get here?”
“I think Kisara has something to do with that. But I haven’t been able to talk to her since I left and I don’t have my item anymore. It wasn’t with me when I left…”
“Don’t worry, no one can use it except you.”
“Yeah but what if someone finds it? I may never see it again…”

Calla gave me an encouraging pat on the back then went to her own bed. After lying in bed for a long time I couldn’t fall asleep… My thoughts once again drifted to Seto… I hope he’s all right…


There you go. sorry it was so long. But I couldn't find a good place to stop ^^;; anyway. On to everyones site! *walks away*
