~ Part 21 ~

~ Part 21 ~

The spring of a thousand lies start with but one truth.

In his workroom Seto Kaiba worked on his company. It had been a few days since he last saw Danielle or Calla. The mere though of either of them sent a shiver down his spine. The dream he had was of them dying and entering the world of the dead. He wanted nothing more than for them to be safe.

‘Why do I think of such things? Me the CEO of Kaiba Corp is going soft.’ He grumbled to himself. What had they done to change him so? Well he would just have to find out.

Clicking a file of his computer a screen of the world popped up. A little red dot glowed on the far left of the screen. He had been getting ready for this for quite sometime. He had just been waiting for one of them to show up.

Sometime later him and Mokuba were on a plane heading to their destination. ‘To Egypt’ He thought to himself.

~~~
Finding herself in a dark room Naru franticly tried to find the exit. With her hands to the wall she searched for an out. The wall never ended. It felt like it was going on forever. She could hear someone speaking but not make out the words. The feeling of danger was growing more and more in her mind. A green light could be seen ahead. She felt a pull toward it but resisted. Turning to run it followed. Closing in on her she felt helpless to do anything. Than a white light ahead of her sprang into existence. It rushed over her colliding with the other light. The two seemed to fight. The colors mixing becoming one, than pulling apart again. Finally they stopped moving altogether. Taking a tentative step forward Naru didn’t know what to do. From the light stepped a person. ’Hello Naru…’ The air around them glowed a soft blue. She knew that face…
~~~

Gasping awake Naru sat up in bed. Malik wasn’t there and by the time on her watch it was almost 9am. Grumbling that she overslept she jumped out of bed and quickly got dressed. An uneasy feeling made her stop in the hallway. Something was nagging her in the back of her mind. Something she needed to remember… She shook it off and hurried to Danielle and Callas’ room.

Barging in they were both still asleep on their beds. Smiling mischievously she quietly walked to the front of their beds (they were side by side) and grasped the pillow of each. Then she tugged them both out. With a squeak they both were pulled off their beds, head first. Falling on top of one another Danielle caught sight of Naru and pulled her down with them. Laughing hysterically the three wrestled on the floor. Pillows and blankets were thrown everywhere.

The screams brought Malik to the room. Frowning at the three of them he was bombarded with pillows. Finally at the end of their fun Calla started to make the beds. Naru pushed Malik out the door so the other two could get dressed. Still rather confused he walked away in a daze. Naru came back in and helped them fix everything up.

After they were done they went to the kitchen and got something to eat. After eating they went back to Narus’ room. Malik was there reading from his book. Which reminded Naru of what he showed her yesterday. Malik half growled at them as Naru walked over and planted a kiss on his cheek. Seeing as how he didn’t want to be disturbed she took them outside.

It was warm and inviting so they went to the market. Just having fun together they walked the many streets. Coming to an empty side street they stepping into it to escape some of the heat. Resting her head in her hand Calla smiled at them saying she was sorry but she had a headache, saying it must be the heat. A scream and gunfire could be heard.

Stepping out of the alley Naru saw that a man was holding a woman hostage demanding everyone get down. Naru pushed the others back into the alley and told they to go out the back. Neither argued and the rushed out the other side. Calla fell behind. We went back to her but the headache and her on the ground in pain. A car turned the corner and the man that had held the woman hostage was driving. If they didn’t move they would get squished.

Urging her to move, Calla laid on the ground oblivious to our crys. The sound of a car quickly came upon us. Standing up Calla pushed they out of the way. Standing alone now, an aura surrounded her. She raised her hand and the car stopped a few feet in front of her. Everyone on the streets was staring at the man as he lifted into the air. They looked around to see who was doing it. Their eyes passed right over her like she wasn’t even there. With a wave the man flew back and hit a wall knocking him unconscious.

Rushing over to them now Calla urged us to start heading back. In complete awe of what had just happened we simply followed her instructions. Practically running back the passage in the scriptures came back to my mind, ‘ Her powers were said to rival the gods themselves. ‘ A shudder ran down her back.

Out of breath they reached the hidden stairwell. Well away from anyone now Danielle bust out,

“How the hell did you do that?!”
Looking a little confused, Calla answered, “I - I don’t know…”
“How can you not know? You lifted your hand and poof!” She snapped her fingers; “You stopped the whole car and lifted the man out of it.” Shaking her head, “And your telling me you don’t know how you did it?”
Waiting a minuet she answered, “I truly don’t know. It was just like the knowledge of how to do it just popped into my head. I don’t think I could do it again though…”
“Your mom must be helping you! The sorceress from the scriptures. She has to be your mom and she’s helping you!” Happy now that she found it out Danielle plopped down on one of the rocks.
Naru spoke them, “I found out some more about the sorceress.” She told them of the scripture she read.
Danielle was the first to respond, “So she’s the daughter of an evil being?”
“Not exactly, see they only believed her to be an evil being but she could have been the one that saved the Pharaoh.”
“But this dark creature didn’t show up until after she left?”
“Yes so her magic could have been keeping it away and when they sent here away the creature was able to come.”
“So why didn’t it come before?”
“I don’t know it was just one theory there are many more.”
“So Calla is the daughter of a being that could have brought this destruction to the world?”
“Or her mom helped stop it. You’re only looking at one side.”

Rather annoyed that they were talking about like she wasn’t even there Calla went inside. After more debates they also followed. Danielle said she needed something to drink so she went to the kitchen. I went off to find Calla. Finding her in her room I walked happily in.

“Hey Calla!”
“Hello Naru…”

Stopping in my tracks a memory flashed into my mind.

“What did you say?”
Turning to look at me Calla repeated, “I said hello Naru. Are you ok you look pale. Maybe you should lie down.” She turned back around.

Images of my dream came flooding back to me. Gasping I took a step back. Turning back around Calla stood and took a step toward me.

“D-Don’t come near me!” Naru said
“Naru what’s wrong? It’s me Calla are you ok?” She took another step toward me
I jumped back a step and shook a finger at her, “I know what you are! Your going to die tonight creature!” I turned to run.

It was as quick as a shadow. Blocking my path it advanced on me. Whispers filled the room shoving me down onto one of the beds.

Laughing it said, “I don’t know how out found out, Naru dear. But the Essence isn’t here this time to help you. She’s too drained from this after noon. So say goodbye to me and hello to the darkness.”

Raising its hand my world fell around me.

Darkness consumed everything as a feeling of falling took over my body. Opening my eyes I found myself in a dark place. There was a wall behind me. Following it I tried to find an exit. Laughter my ears and ancient words wound around me. Fear gripped my heart, as I could not stop going forward. A green light materialized in front of me, nearly on top of me. It beckoned me forward. The whispers stopped and the spell broken. I turned and ran as fast as I could. The thing screamed and followed me. The swiftness of its form made me appear slow. I knew it was going to catch me, what was the use in going on?

A white light enfolded around me, pushing the dark thoughts away from me. A warm feeling filled my soul as it danced around me. The green light tried to follow but couldn’t get in. It screamed again in frustration. The white light enfolded around the green one. The thing fought and fought until it grew tired and gave into the other. Changing shape the green light turned into a person. The light set them down on the ground. Going over to the other form I saw that it was Calla. From the light a form stepped forward. She was the definition of grace, with hair as white as the light, and eyes of gray. It spoke in a voice as enchanting as her figure.

‘Hello Naru…’
looking a little shaken I said, “Hi…”
‘I hope you are well?’
“Well yes, um, who are you?”
She smiled, ‘I am that childs’ mother.’
“Where are we?”
A sad smile on her face she said, ‘We are in the underworld.’
I gasped, “So I-I’m dead?”
‘No, she used a power to bring you here so you could be killed with ease. But she did not except to find me here.’
“So your daughter is evil?”
‘No, at least not all of her. A dark half resides in her mind. She fights it but sometimes it gets out. I was able to help you here for this is where I am doomed to stay.’
“Did you die?”
‘No, I chose to come here to stop the creature from taking over our world above. But I failed and as punishment am trapped here forever.’ She raised her hand. Calla and I rose from the ground. ‘I want you to protect her. The time will come when her power is needed. Only she can defeat the shadows she rose’

A powerful energy surrounded us and I felt us move. Looking down I saw the woman turn once again into a white light. It followed us until it hit a barrier. We continued up threw blackness and nightmares. My world began to spin and passing out I remembered a dark hand reaching for my throat…

~~~~~~~~~
Raising up from my bed I saw Calla sitting in a chair by me. She looked up from the book she had been reading. Putting it down she said, “Naru we need to talk…”
I responded in an exasperated tone, “You have no idea how much we do.”
And I'm done for today *stretches* I think I'll go read some... *walks away*
