Why Do I Love You - Story Post 1
The game ended and the teachers told the students to get dressed. Sighing, Eric put the ball away. As he entered the boys' locker room, Cody slammed his hands on his shoulders.
"Jeez, man. What's with you? It's like you don't even try against me. Do you want people to get suspicious?" Cody hissed in Eric's ear.
They heard the others start to come in, so they slipped into the showers, so as to not be overheard. Once safely out of sight, Eric wrapped his arms around Cody's waist, laying his head on Cody's shoulder.
"Why would they get suspicious? You're not the only one on the team. And, I told them I had a stomach ache." Eric answered.
"Some of those girls know, I think. Caitie and Lyndsey seem to at least." Cody said.
"What's so bad about that? If everyone knew, we wouldn't have to sneak around..." Eric backed away, tears in his eyes.
Cody sighed and pushed Eric against the wall. He kissed him gently. Cody waited until Eric had calmed down before backing off.
"You know why we can't do that. Our lives wouldn't be the same. None of the would hang out with us again, and everyone would be disgusted. I don't want you to go through that." Cody murmured softly.
"I don't care what they think. If they can't accept us, then they suck." Eric answered gloomily.
Trying to cheer up his boyfriend, Cody cracked a joke. "Not as well as I do though."
Cody chuckled, Eric scowled.
"This isn't funny, Cody!" Eric cried. He pushed Cody away and stormed off.
Cody sighed and followed him. Most of the guys had already left, so the couple hurriedly got changed. Cody carefully snuck a glance at Eric, wondering if things would get better between them.
Eric pulled on his hoodie and hurried outside. He thought about how he’d gotten together with Cody.
They were the last ones in the locker room. Eric had been crushing on Cody since they’d met and he was trying to hide his embarrassment about changing in front of him. It was hard because Cody wouldn’t stop looking at him.
“You’re blushing. Why?” Cody asked. Then he added, mild anger in his voice that confused Eric, “Did some girl flirt with you? One you like?”
Eric shook his head ‘no’ and pulled on his shirt while keeping his eyes on the floor. Cody smiled and moved closer to Eric. Lightly grasping Eric’s chin, Cody made him look into his eyes.
“You’ve changed in front of guys before, right?” Cody asked softly. Eric’s eyes widened. He couldn’t like him back, could he?
“Y-Yes.” Eric mumbled meekly. Cody leaned closer.
“Then why are you so embarrassed? You like me or something?” Cody leaned closer as Eric’s eyes clenched shut, so sure Cody was fooling around and would tell everyone about him being gay. “Is that a yes? Good. I like you, too.”
Eric’s eyes shot open, and Cody moved in the last few inches, bringing their lips to meet in an electrifying kiss. Their tongues met in a passionate dance, stroking, teasing the other, neither fighting for dominance. They stayed like that until the need for air became too much. As they separated, Cody pulled Eric close, resting his chin on the top of Eric’s head.
“So, what happens now?” Eric softly wondered out loud. He wanted Cody to go steady, but he
was unsure what Cody wanted.
“Why don’t we keep things quiet for now?” Cody asked softly. Eric moved to look up in Cody’s eyes.
“You mean we’d be together, but no one would know?” Eric asked, making sure he understood.
“Yeah, for now at least.” Cody assured. Eric smiled.
“Okay.” He said leaning up for another passionate kiss before the new couple headed to gym class.
Everything had been perfect at first, but seeing other couples hugging or kissing in public made Eric crave more. Eric sighed as he sat down on the bleacher. He sighed again when Cody joined him.
“Talk to me, Eric. Tell me why you are so set on us showing PDA.” Cody whispered, wrapping an arm around his love.
“I just get so jealous of the other couples and I want everyone to know you’re mine and I’m yours.” Eric whispered back, wanting to lay his head on Cody’s shoulder.
“Then, know this: I love you, no one else. I’m just afraid of everyone else’s reactions would be.” Cody murmured. Eric looked him in the eyes and nodded.
“I love you, too. I guess I can wait for that a little longer.” Eric complied.
Cody smiled. Out of the corners of his eyes, he glanced around to make sure no one was watching. Then he gave Eric a quick peck on the cheek. Eric blushed and smiled. Cody smiled back.
Unfortunately for them, a goofy looking girl came out of the girls’ locker room in time to see the exchange. Her eyes widened before she broke out in a grin and squealed. She ran over to the boys.
“Well?” She asked crossing her arms and trying to look angry.
Cody and Eric looked up in alarm. Fearing the worst, Cody jumped away from Eric when he saw the girl.
“C- Cati, what d-do you mean?” Cody uncharacteristically stammered. Cati laughed.
“I know we aren’t exactly in the same circle, but I would like to know if I’m sitting next to the most kawaii couple 3rd period.” Cati mock pouted. “Of course, it’s not like I haven’t suspected. I mean, Eric, I’ve wondered about you a while. You have all the characteristics of a uke. I know, cause I’ve read loads of yaoi. I like it so much I prefer it to het. But you don’t understand one word of what I just said and think I insulted you or something…..”
Cati trailed off noticing the nervous looks on both Cody’s and Eric’s faces. She smiled softly at them.
“Learn otaku. Yaoi is a genre in which two guys, like yourselves, fall in love. Het is straight. Kawaii means cute. Uke means …….. um I’m sooooo not getting into that with you.” Cati explained.
“How do you know everything? Seriously!” Cody almost yelled. Cati just stared at him a minute.
“I do NOT know everything. I’m just a rabid, book-loving fan-girl. Honestly! So….how long have you two been a coup-AH!” Cati was cut off by the boys dragging her farther away from the others.
“Not so loud.” Eric hissed in her ear.
“Sorry. Geez, what’re you guys hiding in the closet for, anyways? Half of everybody already suspects. What do you think we girls are giggling about when we’re not talking about manga, anime, schoolwork, clothes, or our own boyfriends? We are discussing whether or not you two are together.” Cati inquired, looking at the two guys seriously.
“WHAT?!!!” The boys shouted in stereo. Cati rolled her eyes as the gym teachers yelled at them to be quiet. Then the bell rang and they could resume talking.
“Now who’s being loud? Gol-lee, you two are thick. And I don’t wanna hear about that right now.” She added, seeing Cody’s mouth forming a smirk.
“About what right now?” Eric asked, confused, having missed the smirk. Cati shook her head.
“About the fact that there is actually somebody who’s a bigger perv than me… I wanted to keep my title a little longer.” Cati stuck her tongue out at the boys. “See ya tomorrow!”
“Don’t tell anyone!” Cody hissed. Eric got this thoughtful look on his face.
“Wait a moment…Do the girls seem disgusted by the thought of us together?” Eric asked. Cati knew him, and yaoi comics, well enough to know what he was hoping. Cody looked nervous, half hoping the answer was ‘no the girls don’t’. He really did want to show everybody that Eric was his, he just didn’t want it to cause problems for his boyfriend.
“I don’t think so, but I can get my friends’ opinions just to be sure. I’ll give you the verdict as soon as it comes in. But why should it matter? You really like each other, ne? Why do you care? Seriously, I don’t even like you guys that well and I think it’s great you’re together!”
